Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Sumeru Butter Chicken

First, a multifunctional mobile cooking station was brought in.

Then came a large bag of ingredients.

The potatoes, tomatoes, and chicken inside all seemed slightly better than ordinary ingredients.

These ingredients, of course, were sourced from the world of Teyvat.

For today's showcase, Bai Mo had specially prepared the necessary tools.

Aromatic spices from Sumeru, rich butter, purchased poultry, and tomatoes and potatoes from Qingce Village.

Under Bai Mo's hands, these ingredients were methodically transformed into a dish.

However, many who observed Bai Mo's cooking techniques couldn't help but frown.

This guy's culinary skills didn't seem particularly high—just average at best!

Though his knife work was undeniably impressive, his other abilities appeared to be at a beginner's level?

Yet, as they watched the ingredients being processed, the air gradually filled with an intense, mouthwatering aroma, and everyone's eyes widened in astonishment.

After all, Bai Mo had prepared everything right in front of them!

The potatoes, tomatoes, chicken, milk, and butter were all ordinary enough, but why did the final dish emit such a rich, complex fragrance?

He had only added the powdered flesh of a single fruit, hadn't he?

How could it possibly produce such a layered scent, as if a dozen different aromas had merged into one?

"Done~ Sumeru Butter Chicken~"

As Bai Mo poured the butter chicken onto the serving plate, an even more potent fragrance spread throughout the venue.

This aroma!

Yamazaki Akira, who had been idly twirling a cinnamon stick, suddenly snapped to attention.

Even with his extensive knowledge of spices, he couldn't identify anything resembling this scent!

Moreover, this composite fragrance was perfectly harmonious, far more astonishing than any artificially blended spice mix!

Seeing the stunned reactions of the audience, Bai Mo nodded in satisfaction.

The effort and expense he'd put into acquiring the Sumeru Spice Fruit and its unique cooking method had paid off—directly stimulating the senses with such a potent ingredient had left a lasting impression.

"I made quite a bit, though it might not be enough for everyone to have a full serving. Still, there should be enough for each of you to try a bite!"

As Bai Mo stepped aside with his plate of butter chicken, several staff members in black stepped forward with measuring cups.

Each person received a small plastic cup containing about ten milliliters—just enough for a taste.

But none of the Totsuki students complained about the modest portions.

After all, they were equally curious about the mysterious ingredient and its extraordinary flavor.

Bai Mo had cooked an entire large pot, so the distribution to the students didn't require his attention. Instead, he leisurely sat on a nearby chair to enjoy his own lunch.

After tasting his Sumeru Butter Chicken, Bai Mo had to admit his cooking skills were still somewhat rough.

What should have been a dish rated at least three blue stars had only reached two green stars due to his technique.

Still, thanks to the quality of the ingredients, it was undeniably a unique and flavorful dish.

Beside him, Nakiri Senzaemon sat down with his own plate of butter chicken and a large bowl of rice.

"Would you like some rice? I had it specially prepared while you were cooking."

"How thoughtful of you~" Bai Mo accepted without hesitation and began eating the butter chicken with the rice.

"Butter chicken is a traditional Indian dish. The most authentic version requires marinating the chicken overnight with cheese, ginger, garlic, and red chili powder. But your dish uses fresh chicken directly…"

Bai Mo cut him off with a smile. "Old man, I'm not here to teach cooking—Totsuki is far more qualified for that than I am."

"But I do want to ask: did this dish give you a different kind of experience?"

Senzaemon, who hadn't yet taken a bite, paused before nodding. "Though the dish has its flaws, the unique flavor profile is truly unforgettable."

"Traditional butter chicken uses a spice mix called garam masala, typically composed of dried coriander, cumin, cloves, nutmeg, fennel, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, and ginger powder. Yet you achieved this incredible depth of flavor with just the pulp of a single fruit—it's astounding!"

Bai Mo glanced at the Sumeru Spice Fruit on the cooking station, now the focus of many eager eyes. "I only used half of that fruit. The rest is a gift to Totsuki. And for Erina, I'll give you two extra."

At some point, Nakiri Erina had already approached them.

Her cheeks slightly flushed, Bai Mo continued, "I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of dishes you can create with this."

"Really?" Erina's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Don't worry, I'll definitely develop something even more incredible!"

Her words carried an unspoken implication—that Bai Mo's dish still had plenty of room for improvement.

Bai Mo didn't mind. "This was my first time making this dish, and I still have a lot to learn about cooking. But if you can prepare a dish that satisfies me, I'll bring you a new dream ingredient next time."

"It's a deal!"

Watching his granddaughter and Bai Mo make their agreement, Senzaemon silently continued eating his butter chicken rice, choosing not to interrupt.
