Chapter 133 - Chapter 133: Excessive Defense

Danzo slammed the table with a thunderous bang, his one eye burning with fury.

"You insolent brat—how dare you speak to me like that!" he shouted. "Is this treason? Do you plan to betray the village?"

The elders in the Hokage's office visibly flinched at the outburst. Danzo Shimura rarely lost control like this. If even he was this shaken, then clearly the situation with the Uchiha was deteriorating far faster than expected.

But Ryosuke Uchiha stood firm, his Mangekyō Sharingan spinning—His Mangekyō Sharingan spun silently—ten sharp points forming a perfect star, glowing with eerie precision. Instead of flinching, his eyes grew colder, fiercer, more resolved.Chakra flickered faintly around him like a shimmer of heat haze.

If he wanted, he could pump chakra into his eyes right now and summon his Susanoo in a flash. One wrong move, and Danzo could very well find himself on the receiving end of a righteous pummeling.

Ryosuke had no intention of backing down. At this point, who in Konoha could truly threaten him? Even if the entire ANBU Black Ops mobilized, they'd struggle to stop him. The very arm Danzo kept hidden beneath that cloak—laden with stolen Sharingan—was proof of his crimes.

Killing him would be justice.

"You're quick to shout 'treason', Danzo," Ryosuke said with a bitter smirk. "Disrespecting you doesn't make me a traitor. Don't flatter yourself. You're a counselor, not the Hokage. Or did you start thinking your authority eclipses even the Third's?"

The entire room tensed. Even Hiruzen Sarutobi's aged face hardened a touch. It was no secret Danzo had often acted without the Hokage's explicit orders, leveraging his position and his secret faction, Root, to shape Konoha from the shadows.

Danzo's expression twitched with visible anger. Ryosuke had struck a nerve—and he knew it.

Hiruzen folded his arms, voice low and authoritative. "Danzo, let's not escalate this further. This isn't the time for internal conflict."

"Not escalate?" Danzo seethed. "You heard what he said! This Uchiha scum is clearly rebelling! We should seize Ryosuke and Fugaku here and now—cut off the head of this traitorous clan before it's too late!"

Ryosuke narrowed his eyes. "Careful, Danzo. You're about to create the very rebellion you're so desperate to prevent."

The two remaining elders, Koharu and Homura, exchanged uncertain glances. They had known Danzo since their genin days, back when they were teammates under the Second Hokage. But even they knew this was dangerous ground. Ryosuke wasn't just any Uchiha—he was a prodigy, a once-in-a-century talent whose power rivaled that of a Kage.

They had seen the blue skeletal armor of his Susanoo. It wasn't fully formed like Madara's or Itachi's, but it was still terrifying. And if Ryosuke could awaken it, then Fugaku Uchiha—an experienced clan leader rumored to have his own Mangekyō—surely had more to show.

They'd be fools to fight now.

"Danzo," Homura finally said, "this isn't the time to provoke a civil war. The Uchiha aren't just angry. They're cornered. If we make the wrong move, we won't survive the fallout."

Even Hiruzen nodded solemnly. "The village isn't prepared for an internal conflict. We've just recovered from the Third Shinobi War, and Orochimaru's betrayal weakened our top ranks. Jiraiya and Tsunade are away. If a conflict erupts now, we're vulnerable."

Danzo gritted his teeth, glaring at Fugaku and Ryosuke. "You're all soft… just like always. If Tobirama were alive, he'd never tolerate this."

Fugaku remained silent, sifting through the stack of "complaints" Danzo had submitted as evidence of Uchiha misconduct. His eyes landed on one that made his brow twitch.

"Aha," he said quietly, lifting a scroll. "This one's interesting. A man named Konda Akira filed a report claiming he was brutally assaulted by an Uchiha officer. Yet I remember that night well. He was drunk, violent, and attempted to stab someone with a broken bottle."

He looked up.

"The victim was a civilian. One of ours intervened and defended him. Konda got what he deserved—but we didn't press charges. And now he's accusing us of excessive force?"

Danzo snorted. "There was no injury to the civilian. The Uchiha could've de-escalated. This is a textbook case of excessive defense. He should have fled instead of attacking."

Ryosuke laughed out loud.

"Run away? Is that what you think a shinobi should do when someone attacks them with a weapon?"

He turned to the room. "What about you all? If someone tried to stab you, would you run? Would you kneel and beg, or would you fight back?"

Silence.

Ryosuke's gaze swept across the clan heads and village officials. "You all know the answer. It's instinct. It's survival. The Uchiha aren't monsters—we're protectors. We don't punish our own for defending lives."

"And as for you, Danzo..." He stepped forward. His eyes flared, chakra leaking like steam. "You protect criminals and paint us as villains. You call it excessive defense—I call it restraint."

Danzo hissed through clenched teeth. "You twist the truth to suit your own ambitions."

"No," Ryosuke said. "I speak it plainly. You're just too used to no one challenging your lies."

The room buzzed with unspoken tension. Most of the smaller clan heads were keeping their heads down, unwilling to side against either Danzo or Ryosuke. But they saw clearly now—Danzo was playing a dangerous game, and Ryosuke wasn't bluffing.

Danzo's face turned red with rage. But this time, no one backed him. Even Hiruzen remained quiet.

The silence spoke volumes.

Fugaku rolled the scroll back up and handed it to Hiruzen. "These complaints are paper shields for a vendetta, nothing more. You want to stop violence, Danzo? Start with your own department. Clean Root's bloodstained hands."

Danzo took a shaky breath, visibly trying to compose himself. "This… isn't over."

"No," Ryosuke agreed. "It's just beginning."
