Chapter 14 - A New Mission

Sasir sits at a table with someone across from him. He looks at a tablet while biting a pen. "So you say the weapon was going through some form of intense emotions before that thing came out of his arm. That doesn't make any sense. None of these damn metamorphosis cases make sense," he walks to a window the other side holding the body of several weapons each with different animal features in place of a limb on their right side.

"I'm telling you what I saw man don't know what else you want," Sasir leans back yawning.

"Did you see any form of drugs or something that could have even slightly been a reason to explain this?" Two researchers walk in with their own tablets showing things to the first one. "Get me in touch with a rank one commander, this may be a lead."

"What did you figure this out?" Sasir sits up as the other two leave. "Does this mean I can leave?"

"You may leave."

Hours later Sasir walks into Bai's office who is standing at a desk looking through papers. "Ah there you are. Weapon T-S-2 you are to be assigned a rank one mission," she smiles as she turns walking over. "If you are able to complete this mission then you shall no longer be disgraced."

"What's the mission then?" Sasir questions as he stares Bai down.

"Are you aware of what the island of Sanyx is? Actually don't answer that, you're a weapon you only know of this island," she smiles as she steps close to Sasir's face. "I give you two missions, you may do either first. Your first is to retrieve T-S-3. We believe that she is somewhere within the elvish nation of Osearithle. You are a weapon so you should be able to move fast and efficiently enough to locate her," Bai steps away walking towards a tablet placed on a dresser. She sets it on a table sliding it towards Sasir. "The other mission is for you to go to the island of Sanyx and locate the remains of the scholars, alchemists, or researchers of as many expeditions as possible and locate their notes so we can maybe understand what is happening to the weapons who rebel."

Sasir looks at the tablet confused. Nearly 140 expeditions were all perfectly recorded and each member wrote down. He glances at Bai before looking back at the tablet. Some even have possible places of death on them but most are marked as lost shortly after they started going deeper onto the island. "Why are you giving me both tasks? Wouldn't exploring this island be better for a different weapon or an expedition team?"

"Did I tell you to question my orders?" Bai turns away grabbing and lighting a cigarette. "Sorry doc I ain't quitting," she blows smoke into the air. "If you want to return to being welcomed by weapons and the T family I recommend you damn get to work," as she sets the cigarette back in her mouth she watches as Sasir gets ready to speak again. "Don't."

With that Sasir jerks back slightly surprised before turning and leaving bringing the tablet with him. An hour later he arrives at a military port, the same one he was pushed off. "You work the boats round here right?" Sasir looks at one of the admirals.

The admiral sighs before talking. "Weapon T-S-2 correct?" Sasir nods quickly after. "Where you wanting to get to kid?"

"I need to go to the elf nation just across the sea," the admiral sighs as he begins to walk over to a boat.

"No you don't kid. Bai told me you'd be here and I'll take you where you tell me, but tell me how you plan to hold T-S-3 captive while you search through Sanyx?"

Sasir stands puzzled for a bit not thinking about moving Tailrill during his search through Sanyx. "I suppose that is a good point sir. Then we will go to this Sanyx Island first."

The admiral scoffs as Sasir follows him onto the boat. "Names Gilvoc and just so you know I ain't gonna wait forever when we arrive. Take too many days to return, and I'll presume you are dead and leave."

"How many days are you gonna give me?" the boat departs as Sasir shows his concern. "There have been 140 recorded expeditions; it'll probably take several days."

The admiral laughs to himself a little. "You have permission to sleep on the boat so just if possible come back to the boat in between finding your notebooks."

Sasir seems surprised that the admiral doesn't seem to be stacking things against him. "Oh, well then I'll make sure to be back at the boat whenever I can," Sasir turns and watches the water flow around him as the boat moves towards Sanyx.

He looks down at the tablet and begins to read through the different expeditions. The first one, a small group that the tablet shows went deeper into the island before they were no longer tracked. The case with many expeditions that didn't stay near the coast. Every expedition is marked as presumed dead. Sasir begins looking through the faces as he tries to guess whose notebook he will be finding. Expedition five Adlee nine Heleleth twelve Umeris thirty-three Gustave. Sasir decides to just flip to random pages, getting bored quickly expedition sixty-eight Morven expedition one hundred Adro expedition ninety-two Eldan expedition twenty-three Ianven. Eventually Sasir gets more bored and shuts his eyes.
