Chapter 1 – The Void
Darkness.
Nothing but darkness.
I don't know how I got here, or how long I've been here. Time has no meaning. I feel nothing—not hunger, not thirst, not even the need to sleep.
Just... nothing.
> "This sucks."
I walk. I don't know where I'm going, but movement feels better than standing still. I search for light, for life, for anything.
> "Hello? Is anyone there?"
Silence.
Only my voice echoing back, swallowed by the endless black.
> "Could be worse," I mumble. "I'm not in pain. I'm not hungry. I don't feel tired. I don't even need to breathe. So… am I dead?"
I sigh and push my blonde hair back, wandering deeper into the void.
> "Maybe I'm dead, and this is some kind of divine waiting room. Just me and the silence, waiting to be judged."
> "Hey! Gabriel? Michael? Anyone up there?"
No response.
> "Figures."
> "Maybe I'm in hell... or purgatory. This sure as hell isn't heaven."
Then a thought hits me.
> "System?"
...
Nothing.
> "Okay, worth a shot. HELLO—"
Something answers.
A voice like thunder crashes through the void, knocking me flat on my back. It reverberates not just through the air—but through me. Like it spoke into my soul.
> "Stop asking foolish questions. We have matters to discuss."
I can't see anything—but I feel it. The presence. Vast. Ancient. Impossible to comprehend.
> "What... what do you want? Where am I?"
> "You are in a place that both does and does not exist. A liminal space—perceptible only to beings such as myself."
> "Did you bring me here?"
> "No. Your universe ended. Deleted. Erased. It is as if it never was. How you survived… I do not know."
> "No. No, that's not right—this has to be a dream."
But it isn't. Deep down, I know that. I remember… walking through my neighborhood. A strange light in the sky. Then—darkness.
> "You remember now. Good. That makes what comes next easier."
> "You are... unique. A being outside time and space. Normally such existence is achieved through ascension. But you? You got lucky."
> "I could leave you here. Let your mind dissolve in solitude. But instead, I offer you a chance—a new world."
I pause.
Stay here in this nothingness? Or live again?
> "I want to leave. Please."
> "How polite. Very well. Since you've asked nicely… I will give you a gift."
> "A gift?"
> "Yes. The powers of your favorite Marvel hero—the Sentry."
> "Wait—seriously?! Thank you! That's incredibly generous—"
> "Don't thank me yet." The voice grows colder. "There is a condition: you will be reborn in the world of The Boys."
...
Well, shit.
> "Just The Boys? Not Godzilla, not Darkseid, not Thanos or Galactus?" I mutter. "So, evil corporations and psychopaths with capes. Pretty much Earth 2.0."
> "To clarify," I say more clearly, "do I get the full powers of the Sentry?"
> "Yes. You will awaken in Alaska—far from civilization. There you will consume the Golden Sentry Serum and gain his full power... including the Void."
> "...That's incredible."
> "Be warned: you are not mentally ill. But your soul is now bound to this place. The Void within you will manifest in ways even I cannot predict."
> "Understood. Is there anything else?"
> "Yes. Remember: although this world resembles the television show, it is not bound by its limitations. The supes are more powerful—more dangerous. Closer to how they were meant to be portrayed."
> "Like if the show had a better budget and was animated?"
> "Exactly. I will send you back one week before the events of Season One."
> "Thanks for the chance. I won't waste it."
A portal opens—spinning golden light, like Doctor Strange's. On the other side, a frozen wasteland awaits.
As I approach it, I feel something in my pocket. I reach in and pull out a small, seven-inch vial with a golden glow. The label reads:
"The Golden Sentry Serum."
I chuckle.
> "Now is the time for vigilance."
