The soft hum coming from the kitchen was a welcoming sound the broke the silence that had once came with being an isolated individual. The producer of this soft melody was the fox man or Osamu Dazai as he called himself.
I sighed studying the glass of tea that had long gone cold. Fresh dried tea leaves sent by an anonymous individual. The tea leaves came in a package with the note 'we hope to see you see you soon - C.O.F'
Yea not cryptic at all. Besides what even is C.O.F?
I stared into the distance as the humming was soon replaced by rustling. "Hey Ryu?" I hummed a response. My mind still on the mysterious tea giver."We are running low on some food. Um- do you want to go to the village market with me? You don't have to if you don-"
"Let's go"
"huh?"
"What are you staring at lets go"

The village market was rather chaotic little place that advertised local produce. Ladies selling makeup products that claim to make even an old lady into a young damsel. Vendors hawking about miracle foods and what not. It was an unusual sight for me but seeing the fox man (now somehow in the form of a woman thanks to his magical kitsune powers) flirting with the vendors to get a discount was more unusual.
As I scanned all the produce most of them where vegetable and honey.
How strange....
"Excuse me, but why is only honey and vegetable available?" I asked a sweet looking grandma.
"oh my! Are you new here dear?" she asked gently. I nodded.
"Well child the spring festival is coming up so we have to save our resources for that. The nearest town is 15 kilometers away so every year a couple weeks before the festival we start prepping" she patiently explained. I nodded in understanding.
Spring festival huh? Wait ... where'd that fox slip off to?
