Whether it could truly be called "skinship" was a matter of debate, but after washing away the morning's heat in the shower, Yugen and Miyuki sat down to share breakfast.
"It's not so bad to indulge in luxury every once in a while," Yugen remarked, leaning back.
"I agree," Miyuki replied with a serene smile.
"I, however, find it somewhat restless..." Minami countered timidly.
The two were enjoying a leisurely morning at a table on the suite's expansive balcony, treated to the pinnacle of hospitality. Given that Yugen was the current head of the Kagurazaka family, Tatsuya was the heir to the Yotsuba, and Miyuki was publicly recognized as Yugen's fiancée, they were effectively VIPs of the highest order. Normally, it would be expected for a small army of security to surround them. However, since the hotel was part of the Kagurazaka Group's holdings, they had opted for the absolute security of the top-floor suite instead of a conspicuous guard detail.
Minami's hesitation likely stemmed from her humble upbringing. Despite the shift in dynamics, the fact remained that she was Miyuki's Guardian under the Yotsuba name. It wasn't practical to have her stay in a separate room, a point driven home by the combined "persuasion" of Yugen, Tatsuya, and Lina. Minami had eventually, if reluctantly, accepted.
"Technically, Minami, you should be enjoying this as a guest as well," Yugen said.
"She insists she wants to look after you, Yugen-sama. It's very much like her," Miyuki added.
"You two..." Minami murmured, blushing slightly.
When the room assignments had been made, Minami had initially intended to follow Tatsuya and Lina. However, Miyuki had intervened with a decisive, "Yugen-san, let's pull Minami-chan in with us." Behind that decree lay a quiet promise made to Lina. Minami had reconciled her presence by acting as a personal attendant for the couple. Since tipping wasn't a custom in this country and it caused no harm to the staff, Yugen decided to let her have her way.
"Once again, thank you for yesterday. Did you manage to get some rest?" Yugen asked.
"Yes. I felt... very well-loved," Miyuki replied, her eyes twinkling.
"Right... well. Good," Yugen coughed, feeling a familiar heat rise to his cheeks. Even though he had accepted their new status, a certain bashfulness remained. Looking to change the subject, he suggested, "The weather is perfect today. Shall we head out somewhere further afield?"
"I would be delighted!"
Yugen had already briefed Miyuki on the mission involving the Shinkai-kai. Locating a unit of deserters was primarily the National Defense Force's job; they were merely support. When he had joked, 'We can't exactly have you firing off Strategic-Class Magic in the middle of the city like Lina, can we?' Miyuki had conceded easily.
For today, Miyuki's self-imposed role was that of Yugen's "devoted servant." While she harbored a deep-seated desire to be that for him every day, Yugen had strictly forbidden such behavior in public. The result was this—an outpouring of concentrated affection in private. It felt slightly odd to treat the birthday girl as a subordinate, but Yugen decided to indulge her whim as a cute request from his fiancée.
"I want Minami to come with us too."
"Understood. What about Tatsuya-sama and the others?" Minami asked.
"They'll be joining us. We're taking a boat, so wear something easy to move in. There's no rush."
Once Miyuki and Minami retreated to the inner room, Yugen began to change. Nothing particularly eventful happened during their preparations... at least, not for Yugen's side of the suite.
When they met up with Tatsuya and Lina to begin their excursion, it was Lina who was walking with a slight, rhythmic rub to her hip. To put it bluntly, she and Tatsuya had engaged in "youthful indiscretions" the night before. Apparently, Tatsuya's self-control had finally snapped—though Lina's deliberate provocations meant the blame was shared.
