In the anime, the Twelve Talismans had no energy consumption, and this trait was perfectly preserved in Louis's version.
The powers felt "locked in," their limits capping out so hard it was like a coffin had been nailed shut to the concrete floor.
At the same time, just like in the anime, the set of talismans appeared to come with certain hidden restrictions.
Some of their powers couldn't be used together.
In the show, the fluctuating strength of the Demon Sorcerer Shendu had always been criticized by viewers—especially at the end of Season 1, when he had all twelve talismans but still got completely overpowered by the protagonist.
Some said he was just too arrogant. But once Louis obtained the Twelve Talismans himself, he understood the real reason.
Although the talismans were Shendu's power source, they were also the result of his own magical research. After all, he was a Fire demon—not an all-elemental one.
And these magical artifacts had a very simple internal conflict:
Elemental incompatibility.
Each zodiac talisman carried its own elemental affinity. The Pig and Rat belonged to Water. The Ox, Dragon, Sheep, and Dog belonged to Earth. Tiger and Rabbit were Wood. Snake and Horse were Fire. Monkey and Rooster were Metal.
So, conflicting elements couldn't be activated together. For example, if he used the Pig's Heat Vision, he couldn't use the Snake's Invisibility or the Horse's Healing at the same time. Earth types like the Ox, Dragon, Sheep, and Dog also clashed with Water, making them mutually exclusive.
Of course, this only applied to Louis, who had absorbed all twelve talismans into his body. If he were using physical talismans externally, none of these restrictions would matter.
Also, passive effects weren't impacted by these conflicts—only active powers were limited.
So even when Louis used Heat Vision, the Dog Talisman would still keep him immortal in the background.
It was only when he tried to use the Dog Talisman's protective power to keep someone else alive at the same time that conflicts arose with powers like the Pig's.
"Well, this makes life at Hogwarts even more interesting. If a fake wizard beats a real one, who's gonna say the fake isn't real?" Louis chuckled and leapt up to do three sets of one-finger push-ups.
Right now, he felt full of energy. The Ox Talisman's super strength was passively active—his physical body was outrageously strong.
"So real wizards all learn a little light magic and then max out swordsmanship, huh? I'm just a Muggle with a wizard's title and maxed-out physical stats—same energy," he smirked.
Louis spent a while testing all his powers until he was satisfied. Then he sat back down at his desk and grabbed a random Hogwarts textbook to start reading.
There was still a month before school began, and he needed to actually study. He couldn't afford to show ignorance when the time came.
Half a month later, Louis sat hunched at his desk, staring at a potions textbook, deep in thought.
His owl, named Fafnir, sat quietly in its cage nearby, blinking its bright, intelligent eyes at him as he studied.
The book was One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi—a dual-subject textbook used for both Potions and Herbology. Louis had memorized the whole thing in three days using his Sharingan.
Aside from basic herbal knowledge, there was one sentence in the book that truly struck him:
> Muggles cannot brew potions. Even if they follow all the correct steps, the result will always be a useless mush.
That single line from the author didn't just slam the door shut on Louis's hopes—it also dropped a major problem in his lap.
He couldn't brew proper potions. So what was he supposed to do in Potions class?
No amount of power could fix that. Even if he smashed the ingredients into powder, he couldn't conjure magic from nothing.
"Good thing I found out early," Louis sighed, tossing the book aside. "If I realized this at school, I'd be totally screwed."
In the corner of his room lay a chaotic pile of textbooks—books he'd already finished reading. Every word of every one was imprinted in his mind, but still, he hadn't learned a single spell.
Once again, he confirmed his identity as a Muggle.
"Ugh… so frustrating." Louis leaned back in his chair, staring blankly out the window.
Suddenly, a line of text appeared in front of his eyes—a system notification.
[You have infiltrated a school of magic as a Muggle, deceiving the wizarding secrecy laws and multiple wizards involved in your admission.]
[You deceived: Half-giant Rubeus Hagrid, Legendary Wizard Albus Dumbledore, sharp-eyed and experienced witch Minerva McGonagall, and Hogwarts' school rules.]
[Their being deceived has minimal real consequence.]
[You have received 4,700 Trick Points.]
[Current Trick Points: 5,560.]
[Reward granted, but result not considered significant.]
"Sure, a Muggle enrolling at Hogwarts is a pretty ironic twist… but to those wizards, it's just a minor detail," Louis muttered, scratching his nose. "Guess only large-scale deceptions—ones with real impact—earn rewards on par with that Voldemort trick."
But one thing still bugged Louis: how to unlock the next tier of prize draws.
"When I tricked my first underage wizard, I unlocked the Premium Draw tier. But when I fooled Voldemort—a powerful adult wizard—I didn't get the next level…"
Louis pondered the pattern, but he had no clue what the condition might be.
The Legendary Draw was insanely powerful, and now he was only one step away—just one unknown tier separating him from it. How could he not be desperate?
"Whatever, I'll figure that out later. Right now, let's do a draw!" Louis looked at his points total:
5,560 Trick Points!
Enough for a full ten-pull in the Premium Draw!
"Whether it's the Sharingan or the spatial ring, Premium Draws have been amazing so far," Louis said, cracking his knuckles.
"System—give me a premium ten-pull!"
