Chapter 87 - A New Journey begins.

Aryan and Aanya walked towards the door.

Prerna smiled and said,

"Bhai, why did you stop carrying Bhabhi? Mom wouldn't have minded."

She laughed.

Aanya and Aryan looked at each other.

Then Devika said,

"Sorry, Aanya beta, for making you wait outside."

Aanya smiled politely.

"No, it's okay, Aunty."

Devika then welcomed her according to their tradition and said,

"Welcome back, beta... not as a guest, but as our daughter-in-law."

Aanya and Aryan stepped inside.

Aanya looked around the house and remembered the day she had told Aryan that she would never come back.

Prerna smiled.

"Welcome back home, Bhabhi."

Aanya just smiled.

Devika said,

"Well, you both should take some rest now, okay?"

Aanya nodded and started walking toward her old guest room.

Devika looked at her in confusion.

"Aanya, why are you going that way?"

Aanya stopped and turned toward her.

Devika continued,

"Aryan's room is this way, right?"

Aanya was shocked.

She looked at Aryan and raised her eyebrows.

Aryan said,

"Mom, let her sleep in the guest room only. By the way, my room is small and not suitable for two people."

Aanya also nodded in agreement.

Devika looked confused.

"What do you mean, not suitable for two?"

Aryan looked at her.

Devika continued,

"You two are married, and you want me to let my daughter-in-law stay in the guest room?"

"No way."

Aryan looked at Aanya.

Aanya said,

"Well, Aunty, it's okay. I'll sleep in the guest room."

Devika immediately replied,

"No, no, Aanya. No need to listen to Aryan's words."

Aanya became silent.

Devika smiled.

"You both go. By the way, from today onwards, it's your room too. If you want any changes, we can discuss them tomorrow morning, okay?"

Helplessly, Aanya replied,

"Okay."

Then she went to the room with Aryan.

Meanwhile, Prerna asked,

"Mom, today you somehow convinced them to stay together in one room... but what about tomorrow?"

Devika smiled.

"I have an idea for that too."

Inside the room, Aanya looked around.

The room was as clean as usual.

Aryan looked at her.

"What are you looking at?"

Aanya looked at him.

"Nothing."

Then she looked at the bed and thought,

This is so small.

Aryan noticed she was thinking about something again.

"Now what happened?"

Aanya looked at him.

"Well... I need to change my dress. It's so heavy."

Aryan pointed toward a door.

"The changing room is there."

Aanya went inside and changed her dress.

Meanwhile, in her room, Nandini was pacing back and forth in anger.

"This Devika has gone mad!"

"She... she let that girl marry Aryan?"

"How could she?"

"She didn't do the right thing at all."

"And that Aryan... he also said yes in front of everyone."

"I know he agreed only because his mother told him to. Otherwise, he would never have married her."

She clenched her fists.

"From tomorrow onwards, I'll make that Aanya suffer."

"And at last she herself will leave this house."

Meanwhile, Aanya changed her clothes and came out.

She saw Aryan arranging the bed.

She frowned.

"Seriously... what are you doing?"

Aryan looked at her.

"Can't you see?"

Aanya replied,

"Not that."

"Why didn't you say anything when Aunty told us to stay in one room?"

Aryan answered,

"I did tell her, didn't I?"

Aanya became silent.

Aryan asked,

"Why didn't you say anything?"

Aanya replied,

"I thought you would say something."

Both of them became silent.

After a moment, Aanya said,

"By the way... it's so hard to share a room with you."

Aryan replied,

"Same here."

Aanya looked at him seriously.

Aryan continued arranging the bed.

Aanya asked,

"Where will I sleep?"

"I won't sleep on the same bed with you."

Aryan looked at her.

"Don't worry."

"It's not for you."

Aanya looked at him in shock.

"Then where should I sleep?"

"I can't sleep on the floor."

Aryan pointed toward the couch.

Aanya looked at it.

"On the couch?"

"Seriously, Aryan Mehra?"

"I can't sleep on a couch."

"What made you think I could sleep comfortably on that?"

Aryan didn't say anything.

He walked toward the couch.

Aanya frowned.

"Why aren't you saying anything?"

"I can't sleep there."

Suddenly, Aryan pulled the couch open.

It transformed into a bed.

Aanya looked at it in shock.

Aryan looked at her.

Aanya smiled.

"I didn't know it was a sofa-cum-bed."

Aryan didn't say anything.

He simply handed her a pillow and a blanket.

Aanya looked at him seriously, then turned her face away and went to her bed.

Aryan also went to his bed.

After a while, Aanya looked at Aryan, who had closed his eyes.

She asked,

"Have you slept?"

Without opening his eyes, Aryan replied,

"No."

Aanya said,

"Well, I'm sleeping in your room only for today. From tomorrow onwards, I'll go back to my room."

Aryan replied,

"Okay."

After a pause, Aanya asked,

"You remember about tomorrow, right?"

Aryan asked,

"What?"

Aanya replied,

"We need to go to the lawyer."

Aryan suddenly opened his eyes but didn't say anything.

Aanya looked at him.

"What?"

Aryan replied,

"Okay."

After that, Aanya looked at him for a few moments.

Then she turned around and went to sleep.

The next morning, Aanya suddenly woke up and opened her eyes.

She was shocked to see Aryan standing in front of her.

She immediately sat up.

"What are you doing?"

Aryan looked at her seriously and showed her phone.

Aanya looked at her phone and asked,

"Why is my phone with you?"

Aryan replied seriously,

"How many alarms do you keep?"

Aanya asked doubtfully,

"Alarm?"

"I…"

Suddenly, Aanya realized.

"Oh…"

Aryan continued,

"Does anyone keep this many alarms?"

"That too on a Sunday?"

Aanya looked confused.

"Sunday?"

"Wait... I usually don't keep so many alarms."

She checked her phone and realized that she hadn't turned off her weekday alarms.

She looked at Aryan and smiled awkwardly.

"Well... Mr. Aryan…"

Aryan continued,

"You know, because of you, I didn't get any sleep."

Aanya lowered her head.

Aryan continued,

"From 4:30 this morning, your alarm kept ringing."

"Every five minutes, it started again."

Aanya felt guilty.

Aryan continued,

"Because of your alarm, everyone woke up... except you."

Aanya smiled awkwardly.

"Well, it's a good thing, right, Mr. Aryan?"

"Usually, in cities there are no hens to wake us up."

"So instead of hens, my alarm solved the problem."

Aryan looked at her seriously.

Aanya smiled.

"Well... it was a joke."

"I thought you would smile."

Aryan looked at her with a straight face.

"It's not funny at all."

Aanya's smile slowly faded.

"Okay..." she murmured quietly, lowering her head.

Aryan continued,

"I wanted to switch off your phone, but it asked me for the password."

Aanya asked,

"You could have unlocked it, right?"

Aryan replied,

"I don't know your password."

Without thinking, Aanya said,

"It's your birthday date only."

Aryan suddenly became silent.

Aanya immediately realized what she had just said.

She quickly said,

"Well... it's not a big deal."

"You're making a huge issue out of it, Aryan Mehra."

Aryan looked at her.

"You…"

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

They heard Prerna's voice.

"Bhai... Bhabhi... breakfast is ready. Come fast!"

Aryan replied,

"Okay, we'll come."

Prerna left.

Aryan looked at Aanya and said,

"From next time onwards, don't keep alarms if you can't wake up."

While getting up from her bed, Aanya replied,

"Okay, okay, Mr. Aryan Mehra."

"You don't need to tell me."

Suddenly, she slipped.

Aryan quickly held her.

For a moment, both of them looked into each other's eyes.

Aanya looked away.

"Well... I need to get ready."

"Prerna called us for breakfast."

Aryan nodded.

"Yeah... okay."

Then he let go of her.

Later, at the dining table, Devika, Prerna, and Nandini were sitting.

Suddenly, Aryan came.

Prerna asked,

"Bhai, did you sleep well?"

Aryan replied,

"No."

"Because of Aanya, I couldn't sleep well."

The three women looked at him.

Prerna and Devika looked at each other, trying to hold back their laughter.

Nandini looked at him seriously.

Then Aryan realized they had misunderstood him because it was his first night after marriage.

He quickly clarified,

"Alarm."

"I mean, her alarm."

"That's why I couldn't sleep."

Prerna and Devika smiled.

"Ohhh... okay."

After a while, Aanya also came and sat down.

Prerna smiled mischievously.

"Well, Bhabhi, Bhai is saying he couldn't sleep because of you."

Aanya suddenly realized the double meaning and looked at Aryan.

Aryan looked at her and immediately explained,

"Your alarm... I mean…"

Aanya didn't say anything.

Prerna laughed.

Aryan and Aanya looked at each other.

Just then, the maid, Sudha, came and placed the food on the table.

Aanya looked at her and asked,

"Who is she?"

Devika replied,

"Aanya beta, she's the new maid."

Aanya asked,

"Maid?"

Devika nodded.

"Yes."

She turned to Sudha.

"Sudha, she's my daughter-in-law, Aanya."

Aanya smiled warmly at Sudha.

Sudha smiled back.

"Ma'am, your daughter-in-law is so beautiful. Now I understand why Aryan sir got married so suddenly."

Aryan suddenly looked at Sudha.

Realizing what she had said, Sudha immediately stopped talking.

Nandini rolled her eyes.

Devika continued,

"She helps with the household work and also takes care of Prerna."

Aanya looked confused.

"Prerna?"

Everyone suddenly realized that Aanya didn't know about Prerna's incident.

Aryan looked at his mother.

Prerna quickly covered it up.

"Aanya, we've already eaten."

"You eat before the food gets cold."

Aanya nodded.

"Yeah."

While eating, Aanya suddenly asked,

"By the way... where is Max?"

Prerna replied,

"He's at Bhai's friend's house for a few days."

"I've been telling Bhai to bring him back, but every day he forgets."

Aanya said,

"No problem."

"Now that we'll be going out anyway, we'll bring him back."

Nandini looked at her.

Prerna asked,

"You guys are going somewhere?"

Aanya nodded.

"Yes."

Prerna smiled excitedly.

"Wow! Where are you planning to go?"

Aanya and Aryan looked at each other.

Then Aanya replied,

"Well... we're going to the university."

Prerna looked confused.

"University?"

Aanya nodded.

"Yes. Well, I have some work there. Right, Mr. Aryan?"

Aryan nodded.

"Yeah. She has some work."

Devika smiled.

"Oh, okay. How long will it take, beta?"

Aanya looked confused.

Devika continued,

"Well, Aanya beta, some of our family members are coming today to see you."

Aanya became silent.

Aryan looked at his mother.

"Mom, why did you tell them?"

Devika shook her head.

"I didn't."

Nandini interrupted,

"I told them."

Everyone looked at her.

Nandini continued,

"What's wrong with that?"

"Well, she's the new daughter-in-law of this house, right?"

"So our relatives would also want to meet her."

"I mean, everyone is confused about your sudden marriage."

Aryan was about to say something.

Before he could, Aanya spoke.

"You're right, Aunty."

Aryan looked at her.

Aanya turned to Devika.

"Aunty, the work won't take long."

"We'll be back before lunch."

Nandini smiled.

"Well, you should be."

"You need to prepare lunch."

Again, everyone looked at her.

Nandini continued,

"It's your Pehli Rasoi."

(A traditional Indian ritual where the newlywed bride prepares her first meal in her husband's home.)

Aanya nodded.

"Yeah, Aunty."

"I know."

After breakfast, Aanya and Aryan left and went to a lawyer's office.

They explained everything to him.

The lawyer listened carefully before saying,

For a mutual consent divorce, the law generally requires you to wait at least one year from the date of your marriage before filing."

"Since you've been married for only one day, you aren't eligible to file for divorce yet."

Aanya looked shocked.

"What?"

"One year?"

"But, sir... I mean... one year is too long, right?"

She looked at Aryan.

The lawyer replied,

"I know this isn't what you wanted to hear."

"But the law doesn't allow couples to end a valid marriage immediately after the wedding."

Aanya asked,

"But still, sir... is there any other way we can apply for divorce?"

The lawyer replied,

"Unless there are exceptional legal grounds—such as fraud, coercion, or another reason that could make the marriage void or voidable—you'll generally need to wait before you can seek a divorce."

Aanya explained,

"Our families arranged everything."

"We agreed because we didn't want to hurt them."

The lawyer asked,

"Were either of you threatened or forced to say 'yes'?"

Aanya shook her head.

"No."

The lawyer nodded.

"Then, based on what you've told me, this appears to be a valid marriage."

"Simply regretting the decision after the wedding isn't enough to make it void or voidable."

"Your best option would be to wait until you're legally eligible to file for divorce."

Aryan and Aanya looked at each other.

Later, they came out of the lawyer's office.

Aanya sighed.

"Now what will we do?"

Aryan didn't say anything.

Aanya looked at him.

"You knew everything about this, right?"

Aryan looked at her.

"Yes."

Aanya frowned in irritation.

"Then why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Aryan replied calmly,

"Because I knew you wouldn't listen to me."

Aanya sighed.

"Then what will we do now?"

Aryan thought for a moment.

"Well... you're going to graduate in a few months. After that, you want to do your MBA abroad, right?"

Aanya nodded.

"Yes."

Aryan continued,

"During that time, one year will pass. Once we complete one year of marriage, we can apply for divorce."

Aanya paused for a moment before smiling.

"Yeah... you're right."

"Why didn't I get this idea?"

Aryan glanced at her and said casually,

"Because you don't have a brain."

He started walking away.

Aanya stared at him in disbelief.

"Mr. Aryan Mehra!"
