I raced through the doorway behind Uncle Jasper, my heart hammering against my ribs. The scene inside the hospital room hit me like a physical blow.
Imogen was on the floor, blood soaking through her designer dress. A nurse hovered over her, face pale with shock.
"She pushed me!" Imogen wailed, pointing a shaking finger directly at me. "Juliana pushed me! My baby... my baby!"
I stood frozen in the doorway. Everyone's eyes turned to me in shock, but my mind was already analyzing the situation with cold clarity. This was a setup. I'd been with Nathaniel in the hallway when the screaming started.
Liam burst into the room, his face ashen. "What happened? Imogen!"
He fell to his knees beside her, hands hovering helplessly over her bloodied form. The terror in his eyes might have been convincing if I hadn't already pieced together their scheme.
