Chapter 99 - Kaido of the Beasts

The New World operates differently from the first half of the Grand Line.

Even with the World Government's organization, intelligence transmission is far slower here.

Generally, capturing pirates relies entirely on immediately dispatching fleets for decisive battles.

Since most New World pirates have their own territories, finding them isn't too much trouble.

However, among the pirates who hold their own domains in the New World, there's a rare, small fraction of individuals who don't fit in. They are immensely powerful, strong enough to stand at the apex of this world, yet they have no interest in territory and prefer to wander aimlessly.

One such individual is Red the Aloof, who narrowly lost a battle against Golden Lion Shiki. Another is Roger, who has no interest in dominion, focusing solely on finding legendary locations.

And then there's one last individual. Though he hasn't reached the heights of the first two, he's second only to them, a generation slightly younger than Whitebeard and Roger, known as "Kaido of the Beasts," captain of the Beasts Pirates.

He commands a vast number of subordinates but dislikes acting with them, preferring to roam alone.

In some aspects, he's quite similar to Alucard, but their true personalities are entirely different.

Near Marineford's G-5 Branch in the New World, three enormous Marine warships were completely annihilated, and Vice Admiral Casal, responsible for guarding the area, was brutally killed.

The one responsible for this incident was Kaido of the Beasts.

The G-5 Branch lacked the power to confront Kaido, leaving them no choice but to let him wreak havoc and then depart. After seizing one of the Marine warships, Kaido left once more, alone, bringing none of his subordinates.

The surviving Marines immediately reported the incident to Headquarters, hoping for an immediate dispatch of personnel to pursue Kaido.

During the meeting, Kong rubbed his temples. One of the largest Marine branches in the New World had been utterly wiped out. That madman Kaido was utterly lawless.

In truth, before this incident, the Marines had arrested Kaido twice, but ultimately couldn't contain him, only letting him escape.

To this day, they still hadn't found a perfect method to deal with Kaido.

"Which direction did Kaido head after he left?" Tsuru suddenly asked.

Rear Admiral Jemocasi stood beside Tsuru, quickly reporting, "Headed towards the sea area northwest of the G-5 Branch, but Kaido himself likes to wander, so we can't confirm his exact route. It's said the G-5 incident only happened because he accidentally stumbled into the town."

"Garp! Take your men and go!" Kong remained silent for a long time, then turned to Garp, who was snoring soundly during the meeting...

"Garp!!" Kong slammed the table in rage.

POP!

The bubble from Garp's nose popped, and he quickly woke up, saying, "The meeting... has the meeting ended?"

"You idiot..." Sengoku muttered softly beside him.

"Hm, mhm," Garp rubbed his nose, then shamelessly asked the furious Kong, "Uh, what's up?"

"You, take the Marines and capture Kaido!" Kong was too fed up to dwell on Garp's habits; if it worked, he would've said it long ago.

"That hard-skinned kid, huh." Garp reminisced. He had fought Kaido before. Though he defeated him, Kaido still managed to escape. He was one of the few brats who had ever escaped from Garp's grasp.

"Originally, if he hadn't done anything, there'd be no rush to deal with him. But since he destroyed one of the only two Marine branches in the New World, it's unforgivable!" The destruction of G-5 and the killing of the Vice Admiral thoroughly enraged Kong, forcing him to play the Garp card.

"Oh dear, I've got myself a troublesome mission," Garp said, scratching the back of his buzz-cut head.

On the other side, after wreaking havoc at Marine G-5, Kaido stole a warship and drifted across the ocean. He was a very strange man, pursuing battle, pursuing death, but also harboring his own desires, hoping to build an army composed entirely of Devil Fruit users to reach the pinnacle.

Kaido, without a permanent log pose, had no idea which sea area he was currently in. However, the fierce cluster of whirlpools ahead woke him from his slumber. Looking closer, his ship had already been drawn into them without warning.

"You bastards! Can't even get a peaceful nap!" Kaido roared, leaping from the warship into the sea vortex. He unleashed a powerful punch in the ocean, shattering the water currents in the surrounding sea area. For a moment, even the massive whirlpools ceased their rotation.

When Kaido surfaced, he found that the warship he had been on was shattered by his punch, unusable. Turning his head, Kaido spotted a forest island in the distance and decided to head there for the time being.

His body, even more exaggerated than Whitebeard's, swiftly swam towards the island, astonishingly fast despite its enormous size.

Alucard, who had been closing his eyes, feigning sleep while sitting on a pile of large animal corpses, suddenly felt a powerful aura approaching the island.

He had been here for over two weeks but still hadn't found Vegapunk's secret base.

'That guy wouldn't dare lie to me. If so, he must have hidden it too well.'

However, Alucard had discovered something else interesting here. Among a pile of skeletal remains, something was buried.

Alucard glanced at a dark red, banana-shaped fruit with peculiar swirl patterns that he had placed nearby.

It was a Zoan-type Devil Fruit!
