Chapter 460 - 460 - Pain's ignorance!!!

Hidden Rain Village, Land of Rain.

Konan had just finished breakfast when a knock sounded at the door.

She rose, crossed the room, and pulled it open.

"What is it?" she asked flatly, her expression unreadable as she looked at the White Zetsu standing outside.

"Two major events happened in Konoha yesterday."

White Zetsu produced a scroll. "The details are all in here."

Konan nodded and took it. The moment it left his hand, White Zetsu sank into the ground and vanished.

Konan unrolled the scroll with a casual motion—but after a brief glance, her eyes widened slightly in surprise.

The first report detailed the graduation exam and team assignments for the Genius Class.

In particular, it gave an extensive account of the battle between Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto.

"Awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan and a Partial Tailed Beast Transformation at only eleven or twelve?" Konan murmured. "As expected of his student."

She had never heard of the so-called Nine-Tails Chakra Mode and naturally mistook it for a standard partial tailed beast transformation.

Konan continued reading.

When she reached the second piece of information, she fell silent.

The second event was that Kitazawa would officially become the Sixth Hokage next Monday.

Her fingers tightened around the scroll without her noticing.

Kitazawa becoming the Sixth Hokage meant he would live and die with Konoha.

Even with the Flying Thunder God, he would never abandon the village and flee alone.

Now, everything depended on the meeting between Kitazawa and Nagato.

She didn't know what Kitazawa ultimately intended to do, but she could only place her trust in him.

Konan rolled up the scroll, slipped it away, and headed toward the tall tower where Deva Path Pain resided.

She climbed the stairs and soon stood before him.

"This is the latest intelligence from Konoha," Konan said, handing over the scroll.

Pain opened it and read in silence.

"According to the intel, Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke already possess Kage-level strength," Konan said once he had finished.

"It doesn't matter." Pain understood what she was implying, but his tone remained flat. "Before a god, they cannot stir up even the slightest wave."

In his eyes, neither the Mangekyo Sharingan nor a partial tailed beast transformation posed any threat.

He possessed the Rinnegan.

The Rinnegan originated from the legendary Sage of Six Paths—eyes that surpassed the Mangekyo Sharingan.

As for a Jinchuriki's partial or full tailed beast transformation, he had witnessed both. Neither could compare to the power of the Rinnegan.

Even though Uzumaki Naruto contained the strongest of the Tailed Beasts, the Nine-Tails, the fox's performance over history was unimpressive.

Uchiha Madara had controlled the Nine-Tails multiple times, for example.

On top of that, Nagato commanded the Gedo Statue.

After consuming seven-tailed beasts, the Gedo Statue had recovered most of its combat strength and could be considered the number one summoning creature in the ninja world.

In the end, Nagato's only disadvantage was a lack of information.

But that was to be expected.

The Nine-Tails Chakra Mode had only ever appeared on Uzumaki Naruto.

The previous Jinchuriki, Uzumaki Mito and Uzumaki Kushina, had been no different from any other host.

So Nagato simply refused to believe that Naruto's special form of partial tailed beast transformation could surpass him.

Konan wasn't surprised at his reaction.

She knew very well that Nagato currently believed himself invincible.

He would never give up on attacking Konoha and capturing the Nine-Tails because of a single report.

"Kitazawa possesses Wood Release," she added quietly. "He'll be even harder to deal with than Tsunade."

Konan hesitated for a moment before asking quietly, "Are you sure you can defeat him?"

"A god does not lose."

Pain answered flatly, then casually handed the scroll back to her. "Spread the word. In one month, we move on to Konoha."

"…Yes."

Konan agreed, but her heart trembled.

Clutching the scroll, she turned and left the tower.

On the way back to her room, Konan walked in a daze, her thoughts tangled.

She pushed open the door—and froze.

"Why do you look so tense?"

Kitazawa was sitting on the sofa, one eyebrow raised as he took in her expression.

"In one month, the Akatsuki will head to Konoha Village."

Konan snapped out of it and answered directly, without hiding anything.

Kitazawa only smiled, as if he'd expected this.

Before, he'd been somewhat worried about how things might turn out. But ever since obtaining Sage Art: Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands, he'd become completely calm.

"The day before you set out, arrange a meeting between me and Nagato."

After thinking for a moment, Kitazawa gave his instruction.

Konan's lips parted as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she only nodded.

"Come here."

Kitazawa beckoned.

Konan walked over to him.

"Don't worry. I already have a plan."

As he spoke, Kitazawa slipped his hand under the hem of her Akatsuki cloak and rested it on her thigh.

She had on light purple leggings—thicker than stockings to the touch.

Konan instinctively glanced down at him.

"As for what that plan is, you'll know when the time comes."

As if suddenly remembering something, Kitazawa withdrew his hand. "I bought you some new clothes."

He opened a summoning storage scroll and took out a qipao.

"Thank you."

Konan began undressing without the slightest hesitation.

In no time, her body was fully exposed to Kitazawa's gaze.

Feeling the heat in his eyes, Konan calmly picked up the qipao.

The side slits ran high to her hips, revealing her long, slender legs.

Konan stood in front of him and slowly turned in a circle.

From the side, Kitazawa could fully appreciate how stunning the qipao looked on her.

The form‑fitting cut traced every line of Konan's figure, and paired with the half‑revealing style, it exuded an intense, seductive charm.

"It's very beautiful."

Kitazawa patted his thigh.

Konan took half a step forward and sat down on his lap.

As she moved, the qipao pulled tight around her waist and hips, making her waist seem even slimmer and her curves more pronounced.

The sight hit Kitazawa like a shock.

He couldn't help but nod in satisfaction.

Having Konan wear a qipao had definitely been the right choice.

Her figure was made for it—neither too thin nor too full.

By comparison, Tsunade wasn't as suited for a qipao because she was more voluptuous. Of course, if she wore one, it wouldn't look bad either.

"Do you like this qipao?"

Kitazawa's hand slipped inside the garment, coming to rest on the inner side of her thigh.

Without the light purple leggings, her skin felt smooth and soft to the touch.

"I like it."

As his hand stroked her thigh, Konan's legs tensed on their own, her toes curling slightly.

"I also bought a few other outfits," Kitazawa said with a small smile. "You can wear them for me next time."

"Mhm."

Konan gave a soft sound of agreement, feeling as though his hand was reaching straight into her heart.

"Did you receive the intelligence?"

Kitazawa looked up at her and asked.

"What intelligence?"

Konan's rosy lips parted slightly as she asked in a low voice.

"I will become the Sixth Hokage next Monday."

Kitazawa murmured as his hand brushed over her warm skin.

"The Akatsuki received that intelligence."

Konan's unfocused gaze sharpened a little. She looked at Kitazawa, puzzled as to why he was bringing this up now of all times.

"After I become Hokage, the Anbu will be short a Commander."

Meeting her eyes, Kitazawa asked, "Do you want that position?"

"I do."

Konan answered without the slightest hesitation.

"Then I'll give you the reward you deserve today."

Kitazawa drew his hand back, then set both hands on her slender waist.

"Thank you."

Konan lowered her head and pressed her lips to his.

Already warmed up, she quickly became more animated, wrapping her arms around him and moving with growing enthusiasm.

Two hours later, Kitazawa walked back into the Hokage's office.

He stretched, feeling invigorated.

He had, after all, successfully interrogated a member of Akatsuki and extracted a great deal of useful information.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Come in."

Kitazawa looked up.

"Kitazawa."

Shizune stepped inside and asked, "Where were you earlier? I couldn't find you."

"I had some business outside the office. I just got back."

Kitazawa replied evenly.

"This is the detailed procedure for the Hokage succession ceremony."

Shizune, not suspecting anything, handed over a document and asked, "Do you see anything that needs to be changed?"

"No."

After reading through it, Kitazawa shook his head.

He had attended Tsunade's Hokage succession ceremony before; the procedure matched exactly, so there was nothing to revise.

"Alright, then."

Shizune nodded. "I'll go ahead and give the orders."

"Sorry to trouble you, Shizune."

Kitazawa said with a slight smile.

"It's no trouble."

Shizune paused at the door and added, "Try to give Lady Tsunade as little money as possible so she doesn't lose it all at the casino."

She had originally planned to retire alongside Tsunade, but both Tsunade and Kitazawa had stopped her.

Having her spend all her time just watching over Tsunade would have been far too wasteful.

"Actually, I'm the one who opened the Konoha Casino."

Kitazawa said after a brief moment of thought.

"You opened it?"

Shizune's eyes widened in surprise.

"It's better to provide an outlet than to try to block it."

Kitazawa explained, "We can't stop Tsunade-sensei from gambling, so we use another method to minimize the losses."

"That's actually a pretty good method. At least we don't have to worry about her squandering money everywhere."

Shizune laughed. "You really do have your ways. I'm relieved, then. See you next time."

She took the document and turned to leave the Hokage's office.

The door closed behind her, and Kitazawa pulled his gaze back.

After finishing the paperwork, he turned his attention to researching a standardized Yin Release Chakra Mode.

Even though most of the students from the Genius Class had already graduated and been assigned to their own team leaders, that didn't stop him from teaching them.

Besides, he was Hokage now—he could do as he pleased.

A week passed in a flash.
