Thompson stood on the doorstep of his parents' home, fidgeting with the zipper of his jacket, the last time he was here was to shout at his mother because of Vera. It was a nasty memory he didn't want to gone down with. Taking a deep breath, he rang the doorbell.
Sandra flung the door open, sensing her son's fidget, her light up, she had been waiting for him to come and see her. " Thompson ! Oh, sweetheart, come in! I have missed you so." She pulled him into a warm embrace.
Thompson relaxed into his mother's embrace and they settled into the plush sofa. His mother's presence had such an effect on him that he began to feel his shoulders be at ease.
Sandra jumped on the sofa like a teenager who met her long lost friend, "So, tell me everything," she said, "It's been too long." She let out a dramatic sigh.
