Chapter 11 - Shadows From the Past

---

Scene 1: The Manuscript Gets Noticed

Zainab's secret novel, The Real Wife, had reached the inbox of a popular online publishing platform. She hadn't expected a reply so soon.

But there it was:

"We love your story. Let's talk about turning it into a published series."

Her heart nearly stopped.

This wasn't just a book.

It was her truth — in fiction.

And now the world would read it.

For the first time, she looked in the mirror and saw not a girl forced into marriage… but an author, a voice, a woman reborn.

Scene 2: Yusuf's Past Revealed

Yusuf sat at his desk, eyes narrowed at the folder in front of him.

> "She's investigating me," he muttered.

Inside were printed screenshots, news clippings — even a photo of him in handcuffs years ago. Someone had hired a private investigator.

It was Lana.

And worse… she had already leaked part of it to a gossip blog.

> "Billionaire Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim linked to financial scandal and secret arrest in Dubai?"

His phone buzzed nonstop. The board was calling. Investors were nervous.

But all he could think about… was what Zainab would think.

Scene 3: The Letter

That night, Zainab found an envelope slipped under her door.

Inside was a handwritten note — from Ayo.

Her first love.

The one she thought she'd marry before everything changed.

> "Zainab… I saw your story. I know it's you. If you ever need a real way out — I'm here. I never stopped thinking about you."

She held the paper, stunned.

Just as she was standing up, Yusuf entered.

Their eyes met. He noticed the letter. The look on her face.

> "Who is it from?" he asked, his voice tight.

Zainab folded it slowly. "Someone who didn't abandon me."

Scene 4: A Dangerous Choice

Later, in the garden, Yusuf found her alone under the moonlight.

> "I know you hate me," he said quietly.

"But I'm not that man anymore."

Zainab looked up, unreadable.

> "Then prove it."

> "How?"

She turned to him. "Start telling the truth. About everything. About Lana. About Dubai. About why you married Amina — and why you kept me."

Yusuf took a deep breath. He had built his whole life on secrets.

But if he wanted Zainab back…

He would have to burn those walls down.

> "Tomorrow," he said. "Meet me in my father's old study. I'll tell you everything."

Scene 5: Someone Is Watching

Across the street, behind the tinted window of a parked car, a camera clicked.

Amina Musa sat in the passenger seat, eyes sharp, mouth twisted in a smirk.

> "Let them fall in love," she muttered.

"Let them get comfortable."

She glanced at the man beside her — a tall stranger in sunglasses and a scar across his cheek.

> "We'll take everything back. One way or another."
