Shadowhunters Camp, Prince Will Herondale's Tent, 1509
Tessa stood nervously outside Will Herondale's tent in the Shadowhunters Camp.
The air was thick with anticipation as she called out softly, "Will, can I come in?" She could hear the rustling of fabric and the faint sound of his footsteps approaching the entrance.
"Of course, Tessa, please come in," Will said from inside the tent. Tessa took a deep breath and pushed the flap aside, stepping into the dimly lit space.
The warmth of the tent enveloped her, and she felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. Will stood by a small table, his expression a blend of warmth and curiosity as he welcomed her in.
"Your Highness," Tessa said, curtsying gracefully to Prince Will.
"Thank you for not saying anything about me being a prince to Arthur and his daughter Rhaenys," Will said, his voice low and sincere.
"Of course, I understand the importance of keeping certain matters private," Tessa replied, her heart racing at the thought of the responsibilities that came with his titles.
"But still, thank you, Tessa," says Will with a sincere tone.
Tessa felt a warmth spread through her at his gratitude, realizing how much his trust meant to her. "I believe everyone deserves a chance to be seen for who they truly are, not just their titles," she said, meeting his gaze with a newfound determination.
"Why do you want to keep your true identity a secret?" Tessa asked, her mind racing with curiosity.
Will hesitated for a moment, then replied, "It's complicated, but I want Princess Rhaenys to get to know me as a person, not just someone with a prince title in their name."
Tessa nodded, understanding the weight of his words. "But don't you think that revealing your true self might strengthen your bond with her?" She pressed.
"Maybe," Will said, glancing away. "But I'd rather take that risk with her."
Tessa then says, "Understood. So what are you going to do now? Arthur, his daughter, and his traveling party are leaving for Dumbrock tomorrow."
Will then said, "I was thinking that we offer to escort them to Dumbrock."
Tessa raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the suggestion. "That could work, but we need to be careful about how we approach it; we would rather not come off as too eager."
Will nodded, contemplating her words. "You're right; we should present it as a casual offer, something that feels like a natural extension of our journey."
Tessa then says, "I'm guessing you want to use that time to get to know Rhaenys more."
Will then says, "You are correct."
Intrigued by the suggestion, Tessa asked, "May I ask why?"
Will said, "Let's just say I have my reasons, and they are my reasons alone."
Tessa raised an eyebrow, sensing there was more to the story. "Fair enough," she replied, "but just remember that sometimes the best connections come from being open and honest."
Will says, "True, but I want to get to know Princess Rhaenys first. Before I reveal my identity as a prince to her."
Tessa nodded, understanding his desire for caution. "That makes sense," she said, "but just be careful not to lose out on a genuine connection in the process."
Will smiled at Tessa's words, appreciating her concern. "I promise to tread lightly," he assured her, "but I also can't ignore the feeling that there's something special about her that I want to explore."
Tessa nodded, understanding his perspective. "Understood," she said. "Should I go and speak to Arthur and put the offer out to him?"
Will paused to consider his response before answering. "Yes, that would be a good idea."
Tessa took a deep breath, ready to bridge the gap between the two worlds. "I'll make sure to approach him carefully," she replied, her determination evident as she turned to leave.
As she walked away, Will felt a mix of anticipation and apprehension. He knew that Tessa's conversation with Arthur could change everything, especially if he hoped to be able to have the chance to get to know Princess Rhaenys better.
"I'm going to win your heart, my love, just like I did in our past life," Will declared with confidence.
