"Sunshine…" Thaddeus murmured, his voice low and troubled. "We might get to find out soon."
Kayden tilted his head slightly, confusion flickering in his eyes. But Thaddeus only pulled him tighter into his arms, holding him as though bracing for a storm neither of them could yet see.
Kayden's voice dropped to a quiet, steady tone. "Daddy… I know you're not afraid of being found out. What you're afraid of is how it might damage things between you and my father. And more than anything… you're afraid it might break what we share."
Thaddeus's gaze lingered on him, but he said nothing. His silence was heavy, his thoughts weighing down his chest.
Kayden shifted, his lips curving into a faint smile. "But Daddy, can you stop worrying about all that? No matter what, yes… I might be young, and you might be twice my age. But I'm not the first in history to love someone older. And so what if you're my father's best friend? That doesn't erase what I feel for you."
