Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The Threads of Love

Indraprastha still shimmered with the afterglow of revelation. The world had witnessed a god remember his divinity, a brotherhood reforged, and a kingdom blessed by unity. But before vows were exchanged, before fire circled two souls, there were still stories left untold.

Vaidehi stood at the edge of the palace courtyard, her fingers tracing the hem of her shawl. Agasthya stood behind her, watching the morning mist curl around the columns.

"You should go," he said quietly.

She turned to him, surprised. "Go?"

He nodded. "Your family deserves to hear from you—about us. Not from rumors or bards, but from your own lips."

Vaidehi smiled. "And here I thought you'd hold me back."

"I trust you more than I trust time," he said, gently taking her hand. "Come back soon."

She nodded, eyes shining. "And when I do, let the world bear witness to what we choose."

Meanwhile, in the quiet chambers of Mathura, Karna leaned on the stone balcony beside Krishna. The sky above was pale gold.

"You're going to Vidarbha," Karna said without looking.

Krishna raised a brow. "Of course. Did you read the letter?"

Karna chuckled. "Rukmini didn't send me one."

Krishna smirked. "She wrote to me with her soul. I could not ignore it."

Karna turned serious. "Her brother will come for you."

"Let him," Krishna said. "When love calls, even the gods must ride."

There was silence. Then Karna spoke again, slower this time.

"There is someone. In Mathura. Her name is Vaishali."

Krishna looked sideways, surprised. "You're in love?"

Karna nodded. "Have been for years. She's a healer. I met her when I was injured during training once. She speaks with her eyes. And listens with silence."

"Have you told her?"

"No. I always felt... too burdened. Too unworthy."

"But you're not that man anymore. You are Radheya, beloved of the people. A brother among gods."

Karna laughed softly. "Then maybe it's time."

Krishna leaned back. "Tell her. Before the next war begins."

In the temple courtyards of Vidarbha, Rukmini whispered to her maidens, hands trembling as they prepared her for her unwanted wedding.

"He will come," she said. "I know he will."

And somewhere far across the roads, Krishna rode beneath the stars, alone but unwavering.

Agasthya felt the tremor of his departure and smiled quietly to himself. Love was unfolding across the world like the petals of a stubborn lotus.

Each with its own thorns.

And yet, no one dared stop it.

Because when hearts beat in truth, not even fate could silence them.
