The five hobgoblins spread out, forming a half-circle around him. The mage stood at the back, her glowing green eyes fixed on Zane. She raised her staff slowly, muttering words he didn't understand.
"Tch, I said I won't let you finish that," Zane muttered and dashed forward.
The two in front swung their claws at him. He ducked low, spun, and slashed one across the waist. Blood splattered as the goblin screamed.
He followed up quickly, kicking its leg to snap the joint and drove his dagger deep into its throat.

The second goblin came right after, slashing downward with both hands. Zane raised his dagger and blocked, sparks flying. The goblin pressed down, snarling. Zane smirked—he used his claws and stabbed it right under the ribs.
The goblin choked on blood before collapsing.
