Daela runs faster, but Drakar is rapidly gaining on her, his deep frightening voice growling at her to stop.
Daela doesn't, she recognizes that pleading voice from earlier, she has to go towards it. Daela propels her much shorter legs forward, desperately praying to the goddess for a miracle.
Oh, goddess! Don't let him catch me, at least not yet!
And then it happens.
She hears the loud, painful hiss noises behind her that cause her legs to halt; Daela turns around, gasping breathlessly, only to find out that the dragon is no longer chasing her.
Drakar has mistakenly stepped on a trap, Daela winces in horror, seeing the thick sharp metal thorns piercing into his legs and the blood dripping from it.
Her eyes lock with her captor's vivid ones that burn even more fiercely at this moment,
"Don't go," Drakar's grunt of pain sends a freezing feeling in Daela's spine.
