CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE

Faelyn bites her lip, uncertainty filtering across her face. She has been standing outside Amendiel's chamber for a few minutes and just like the previous night, she is too anxious to enter.
She can hear Amendiel's faint voice, and finally, Faelyn pushes the door open without knocking.
"Amend—" Faelyn's words cut off immediately, and her mouth drops open in shock as her eyes trail down to their stark nakedness.
Her eyes shift from Leera to Amendiel's, and a wave of queasiness washes over her. Faelyn flees outside, slamming the door shut. Her eyes burn hotly with tears, a dull ache twisting in her chest like a blade made of ice.
She hadn't been able to get any sleep after not talking to Amendiel. She had been a coward last night and decided to try again early this morning.
Sudden anger courses through her.
