I remember that when I began writing the Spirit Hall plotline, there was a reader's comment that said: "Please don't let Bibi Dong fall in love with Yu Xiaogang, otherwise this storyline will become completely unbearable."
At that moment, I realized things had taken a bad turn — I was heading into a narrative landmine.
This doesn't mean that in my story, Bibi Dong and Yu Xiaogang fall in love.
Rather, in my version of the story, Qian Xuanji and Qian Renxue construct illusions for each other, and I originally intended to present Bibi Dong's sudden feelings for Yu Xiaogang as an illusionary process — only to reveal the truth in a major reversal later on.
In my outline:
The Rakshasa God chose Bibi Dong very early on, and thus had Qian Xuanji cultivate her. In other words, Qian Xuanji can be understood as: the High Priest of the Rakshasa God!
Qian Xuanji is a fanatical god-maker. What makes him more extreme than Qian Daoliu is that while Qian Daoliu was loyal only to the Angel God, Qian Xuanji doesn't discriminate—he supports any path to godhood.
Qian Xuanji's plan for training Bibi Dong was to first turn her into a naive, sweet girl, then allow Yu Xiaogang to get close to her, and finally shatter all of Bibi Dong's beliefs and ideals — with the ultimate goal of maximizing her evil thoughts so that she could offer a sacrifice and start her path to becoming a god.
However, in my plot, the Rakshasa God and Qian Xuanji's plan has already been interrupted. In other words, the aforementioned plan no longer exists. But in Qian Xuanji's illusion, created within Qian Renxue's illusion realm, he still believes he is carrying out the Rakshasa God's plan to cultivate a successor.
That's why, during the arc where Bibi Dong elopes, two versions of Qian Xuanji appear:
The first Qian Xuanji, who brings Yu Xiaogang out and forces him to choose between Bibi Dong and the Golden Dragon Fruit — this Qian Xuanji is actually Qian Renxue in disguise, and the Bibi Dong is the real one.
The second Qian Xuanji, who appears after Bibi Dong is captured and locked in a secret chamber — this one is the real Qian Xuanji, but everything that happens in the chamber is an illusion.
Due to the overlapping storyline involving the hunt for Tang Hao, I won't elaborate further here. In the end:
Qian Xuanji will be heavily wounded by Tang Hao's "cheat-like" powers.
The chamber scenes are not a master-disciple setup between Bibi Dong and Qian Xuanji, but a father-daughter confrontation between Qian Xuanji and Qian Renxue.
In the script, neither Qian Xuanji nor Bibi Dong will die, but Qian Xuanji will be written out of the plot, with no further major development.
