Mika's arms tightened slightly around her waist, pulling her in closer as his gaze softened just a fraction. He tilted his head, studying her flushed face, the sheen of sweat on her collarbone, the way her body was trembling against him.
"Yelena..." He murmured, voice low but edged with concern. "Are you alright?"
Her hazy eyes flicked to his, startled, while he went on, his expression serious now.
"For a while now...your body's been getting hotter and hotter. Even just holding you, it feels like I'm touching fire. I swear, my palms are burning."
"And sitting here with you on my lap like this, I'm practically sweating buckets. I can almost see the steam rising off your skin. Tell me...is this topic too much for you? Should we stop?"
For a moment, she froze. His words cut too close to the truth. 'He knows. He knows I'm burning up because of him, because of what he's saying, because of where his hands are…'
