Chapter 14 - When Beauty Holds No Witness

Though the universe had been born,

a quiet catastrophe was unfolding.

While Doma floated joyfully through the orbits of newly formed planets,

he suddenly paused

his ancient senses picking up something… missing.

He gazed closer at the worlds that drifted in order

and his light dimmed.

There was no life.

Nowhere.

Not a single breath in the entire creation.

They had hoped the oceanic clouds

the remnants of Sitali Beutal

would give birth to life.

But each planet, shaped by its own chaotic traits,

had crushed that chance.

What remained of life's essence…

had already been extinguished.

---

Deffo arrived beside Doma, smiling

but his heart paused.

He could feel it....deep in his soul

something was wrong.

"Something has happened,"

Deffo asked gently.

"Why do you look… troubled?"

Doma turned, his divine voice low and heavy,

his eyes drifting across the veiled skies of Vleues.

"Life has been destroyed," he said.

"The atmospheres of these planets have changed.

What fragments of life remained… are gone."

---

Deffo fell silent.

"If life could not be born…

then what's the point of a universe so vast?"

he whispered.

For a moment.....an eternity...…

the stars did not sparkle.

They mourned with them.

And then, for the first time ever,

Doma's eyes.....those cosmic lights....

were not glowing with magic,

but clouded with tears.

---

The loss of Sitali had wounded him once.

But now, to witness the second death....

the erasure of hope itself.....

it was unbearable.

Deffo came close.

His heart ached remembering every moment Doma had held him...

raised him....believed in him.

Now he saw the same strength crumbling before him.

Silently,

he embraced Doma.

---

Doma did not weep aloud.

He knew....he could not break.

If both of them shattered now,

who would hold this fragile cosmos together?

But tears fell nonetheless.

Shimmering like falling stars,

running down the face of a divine being.

From afar,

Vleues looked breathtaking

not just beautiful, but celestial:

a canvas of stars, glowing mist,

ringed orbs spinning like art in the sky.

But what was the point of such beauty

when there was no life left to see it?

---

Just then…

Doma felt something.

A spark.

A tremor.

Still locked in Deffo's embrace,

he blinked

his divine senses reaching into the very breath of the void…

Something was calling.
