"Luna, you can come in."
I turned away from the flowers I had been admiring and glanced at the girl who had spoken.
She was a small, nervous-looking maid whose fingers twitched restlessly as she avoided my gaze. Looking at her more closely, I recognized her as one of Sabrina's maids.
No wonder she looked half frightened to death, I thought. Sabrina was probably as horrible to her as she was to everyone else—except the people in big positions and I wondered how people never noticed it.
A chill washed through my spine as I remembered a particular punishment she had given me when I was thirteen. I still had the scar on my lower back.
Stepping into the room, I turned slowly on the spot and took everything in. The room was like a glass box, the ceiling and walls forming one vast window. I had heard it was one of Luna Megan's favorite spots in the house, but I had never been inside until now.
