POV Rio
After I got the quest to deal with Ack-Ack and her gang, I first went back to Sanctuary and started to make a few plans. I already knew where the base was as I had seen it during my explorations, and it was also marked on my map. I ended up coming up with several plans, but decided to try the easiest and most difficult to trace back method. Just West of USAF Olivia was an unassuming junkyard. I had actually taken almost everything from the area as it was unprotected. But there was one thing I didn't take. A deactivated prototype Sentry Bot.
It was the Combat Sentry Prototype MkIV, and I had the command holotape that could order it to protect certain places in the Commonwealth. One of the few places is USAF Satellite Station Olivia. Now, all I needed to do was activate it and send it to clear out the invaders that took over the station. However, before that, I scouted the local area to ensure there was nothing that would interfere with my plan. And it was a good thing I did. As Dogmeat and I ended up having to fight off a small army of Mole Rats.
After all was said and done, we had killed 43 Mole Rats and a legendary Mole Rat Matriarch. I got a very nice legendary piece of medium raider armor. It increased my movement speed by 10%. As for why there were so many Mole Rats. We had accidentally walked into a Mole Rat nest. The largest I had seen so far. And with the Hunting in the Wastes perk magazine I found a while back, I got two pieces of meat from each Mole Rat, and it taught me how to best butcher the creatures to possibly get more meat. I left the battle with over 100 chunks of meat.
But the real prize was found near it. A nearly complete set of T-51 Power Armor. It was also in pretty good condition. I also looted a decent sniper rifle from the crashed Vertibird next to the Power Armor. I took the sniper and power armor back and upgraded the sniper as best I could. I didn't plan on sending the Sentry Bot with no support. And I didn't intend on using the T-51, as the one piece of armor it was missing was the helmet. So instead, I took the sniper as I would pick off anyone I could while they were distracted by the massive hulk of metal death. Once I had everything ready, I activated the Sentry Bot and gave it orders to defend USAF Olivia.
"US Air Force Station Olivia detected as requiring assistance. Engaging navigation mode," The Sentry Bot says while ignoring me completely.
I followed it for a little bit, but then split off from it and set up in a position where I would have a good line of sight on the raiders while they tried to defend themselves. The raiders didn't notice the Sentry Bot until it was already there, or perhaps they ignored it because who would possibly expect a sentry bot to appear here, of all places. They started to shout, and right as the Sentry Bot opened fire, I took my first shot.
SNAP
My first shot hit the raider and caused their head to explode. None of the raiders seemed to notice as they were too busy trying not to get evicted by the twin miniguns the Sentry Bot had for arms. I kept shooting and took out 3 more raiders before I had no more targets. The raiders decided to retreat underground, where they thought they might be safe.
'If this were the game, then it would be a smart move. But this is real life, and a narrow doorway won't stop it.'
The Sentry Bot squeezed through the doorway, and I just started to loot the corpses. I wasn't going down there as that would be crazy, so instead I would wait for a bit and see if any raiders showed up or if any tried to flee. I had the armor and clothes to appear as a raider from a distance. Which is all I needed to fool them into getting closer.
POV Ack-Ack
I was cleaning my minigun when I heard the sounds of gunfire and screaming.
"Great, what have those idiots done this time. I swear if they set off another turret or prewar trap, I am going to kill them myself," I grumble.
Jess, my lieutenant, runs towards me with a panicked expression. That makes me a bit more alert, as I know Jess wasn't one to panic easily.
"Boss! We've got a problem! We're under attack!" Jess screams.
"What?! Is it that punk Jared and his gang?" I ask while getting my gun ready for combat.
"No, it's worse, some crazy robot is slaughtering its way down here. It's one of those d@mn Sentry Bots!" Jess says with a panicked look.
For once, I totally understood his panic and was starting to panic myself. Sentry Bots were one of the most dangerous things you could stumble across in the wasteland. They were hard to kill and could take a lot of firepower to bring them down. Usually, you would need explosives and a lot of them to destroy them. But we had none as we hadn't managed to break into the storage rooms where we thought all the good stuff was.
"Send Jake and his idiot brother Logan to hold it off. Everyone else needs to make a barricade upstairs, and we will make a firing line," I order him.
"Yes, Boss!" Jess yells and starts to go do what I told him.
Meanwhile, I put away my minigun as it would be suicide to try and use it. It may shoot fast, but I can't use it from cover, so I would get ripped to shreds long before I destroyed the robot. Instead, I went through my old gear and pulled out an old shotgun.
'This'l do nicely.'
10 Minutes Later...
Our barricade didn't last too long, and we had been forced back all the way to the door we couldn't break open. There were only 4 of us left out of the 28 people I had under my command. Even with all my men here to fight it together, we couldn't bring down the damn machine. But we at least broke two of its legs and one of its arms. Not that it mattered much, as we were running out of ammo, and we could hear the damn machine walking closer. I had long since run out of shotgun ammo and switched to a 10mm pistol. With me were Jess, Mary, and Cutter.
"That thing will reach here any moment. Jess, take my minigun and shoot every bullet you can. Mary, Cutter, you two will cover him with me. If Jess goes down, I will take the minigun and keep going," I order.
"Sure thing, Boss!" They respond.
I didn't trust Mary as I knew she was aiming for my position, so I didn't give her the gun. Cutter was called that because he was proficient in knives, not guns. So his aim was piss poor at the best of times. So Jess was the only one I trusted to use my pride and joy.
Clunk... Clink... Clunk
It rounded the corner, and I shouted to open fire.
WRRRRRRRR BBBBBBRRRRRTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!
We all start to fire at the robot, and it responds in kind. Thankfully, it wasn't super accurate due to all the damage it had taken, but that only lasted for a couple of seconds before I saw Cutter get turned into a sieve. But it didn't matter as we had disabled its arm.
Click Click Click
It tries to use its broken arm and fails, and we all stop and breathe a sigh of relief. But then I notice it doesn't stop, instead it starts crawling towards us. But what is most alarming is that I notice it starts to feel hotter and hotter in here.
"Oh sh*t! It's gonna blow!" I scream and make a run for my office just to the right.
Jess and Mary freeze, and by the time they respond, it's too late. I slam the door shut just as the Sentry Bot starts to flash.
BOOOOOOM
I hide to the left of the door as the blast goes off. My door is blasted off its hinges.
Cough Cough
I cough as the dust from the blast settles. Once it does settle, I see the small pit caused by the robot self-destructing and look around for the bodies of Jess and Mary. I find Jess first. He was a pile of flesh that was only identifiable because my minigun was badly damaged near him. Mary took a few more seconds as I found her still alive, but more importantly, she was blasted through the locked door into the room we couldn't access before. She was badly burned, and even if I had some Stimpaks, it was not likely she could be useful anymore. So I did what she didn't deserve and put a bullet in her head.
I regretted doing that immediately.
Scree?
I turn my head to the weird chirping noises and movement. What I see makes my blood turn to ice. I was somewhere around 20 or so Radroaches. They were all different sizes, but one thing they all had in common was the look in their little beady eyes. Hunger.
"Oh, f*ck me!" I complained out loud.
I shot my 10mm, but I only had three bullets and had to throw my gun at them. I injected myself with any chem I had, and then I made a run for the nearest weapon. I grabbed Cutter's knife and started to swing like my life depended on it. One by one, I gutted the nasty things, but with everyone I killed, the big one would feed on it and get bigger. And the roaches would still get some bites and scratches on me. As I had killed the 15th one got my foot and ripped off two of my toes.
I screamed in pain and kicked the thing away, and stabbed another that tried to attack my other leg. But the wound made me slower, and I was losing a lot of blood. By the time I had finished the smaller ones, I was exhausted, and some of the chems had worn off. But all that remained between me and living was one roach. It was several feet long, but I didn't care. All I cared about was getting into that room and finding a Stimpak to not die.
"Come and get me, if you dare!" I scream at the top of my lungs and taunt the roach.
It chitters and flies at me. I run at it as well and tackle it. As we are struggling on the ground, I stab it over and over again. It bites into me over and over again, and I can feel it rip chunks of my flesh off.
"DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!!!!!!" I scream.
After what felt like forever, the roach stops moving and falls off me. I felt cold and lethargic. I started to crawl towards the room and tried to find anything that could save me. I crawled through some oily substance but ignored it and kept going. I saw a medkit and felt hope. But then I saw a lighter clink onto the ground to my left. That was when I noticed what I was crawling it.
'Sh*t.'
FWOOOOSH
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"
