POV: Ember
I could see the last piece of Malphas floating above Victoria's lifeless body like a dark cloud.
It was small now - barely the size of a baseball - but I could feel the hatred radiating from it like heat from a fire. Victoria's sacrifice had weakened the ancient spirit, but it wasn't dead yet.
"There!" I pointed at the shadowy form. "I can see what's left of him!"
"Where?" Cade asked, looking around frantically.
"You can't see it because you're not an omega," Dr. Chen explained quickly. "Only certain wolves can see spirits directly."
The dark fragment of Malphas began spinning faster, trying to escape before I could stop it.
Not this time, I thought, struggling to stand up.
My legs felt like jelly after everything I'd been through, but I forced myself to walk toward the spirit. Each step sent pain shooting through my body, but I didn't care. This monster had killed my parents, possessed my enemy, and tried to steal my children. It was time to end this forever.
