POV: Council Elder Marcus Grimm
My hands shook as I pulled the ancient book from my bag.
"Dr. Chen, keep working on him!" I shouted as Cade's body lay still on the floor.
Everyone in the room thought I was just another mean Council member. They were wrong. I had been searching for this moment my entire life.
The leather book in my hands was over three hundred years old. My grandfather gave it to me before he died, along with a warning I never understood until now.
"High Elder Grimm," Elder Kane called out. "What are you doing? We need to continue the trial."
"The trial is over," I said firmly.
"What do you mean?"
I opened the book to a page I had memorized long ago. The words were written in old werewolf language, but I knew them by heart.
"This isn't a punishment," I announced to the room. "This is a prophecy coming true."
Everyone stopped talking. Even the babies stopped crying.
Luna Supreme Margaret stepped closer to me. "What prophecy?"
