Chapter 59 - CHAPTER 59:"Conversation Part 2"

He knelt on the ancient cobblestone with his eyes wide and locked in place. William's gaze of course was directed at Elsa, as she had just dropped a bombshell on him.

Fate was real. This single sentence sent a shiver running down his spine, as William's worst fear was now confirmed. Truly he was afraid of a lot of things, but having his life be controlled by someone else without even knowing it was by far the most terrifying of all.

With a trembling voice, William broke the silence that had been set by her statement.

"S-so fate is real, is that what you're saying."

The blond girl looked down on him with her pearly blue eyes, a dark smile now visible on her face. With a confident tone, she spoke.

"A pillar of the universe that holds authority over Fate does in fact exist. And right now, that pillar is the one that is orchestrating the 'conflict' that you so desperately want to know about."

The darkness within his pupils shuddered and his muscles tensed, a shaky breath escaping his lips.

One revelation at a time, a sensible image of the situation was finally starting to form in his mind. An ongoing conflict, a prophecy, his luck were all connected to a single being, and that being was also leading everyone else to... something.

William wrapped his arms around his unconscious sister and gently picked her up from the ground. He wore a deep frown as he glanced between Jane and Elsa, though eventually his gaze stuck on the blond lady.

"Elsa, tell me... just how involved am I in fate's web."

Her blue eyes shifted upward and she scratched the back of her head. This act of fake confusion only served to make William angrier.

Looking back at him, Elsa smiled.

"As far as I can tell, you would be classified as a 'major piece' to say the least. However, I don't really know what service you will provide in fate's plan."

His frown turned into a scowl, and a sentence escaped his mouth in the form of a whisper.

"Liar."

Of course, due to Elsa's mind reader she already knew what he was going to say, so a whisper would not hide anything from her.

Her smile disappeared and a blank expression took its place. Speaking in an emotionless tone, she now seemed a lot more uncanny than before.

"William, I know that I seem all powerful and all knowing to you, but trust me when I say this to you... I am not on the level of the pillars of the universe. All of them could erase me in a blink of an eye if they wanted to."

Her words only made his scowl grow deeper.

"They could erase you in the blink of an eye huh. Funny that you say that because last time I remember, Adam the pillar of death threatened me and told me to stay away from you. He said that if I got involved with you, it would not only end badly for me but for everyone, and I can only assume that 'everyone' would also include him as well as all of the other pillars. Elsa you are indeed telling the truth, you really aren't on the same level as the pillars of the universe... you are something much more dangerous, and I can only hope that I am wrong but I don't think that I am."

A brutal silence enveloped the room as both William and Elsa looked at each other's eyes.

In this moment of silence, William could only think of all the horrible stuff that Elsa could do to them.

But in the end, none of his imaginary scenarios occurred.

With her hand she flipped her long golden hair back. The blank expression did not once leave her face, and when she spoke her voice was still devoid of emotion. It seemed that his accusations had not provoked her that much. That did not surprise him as it was in line with her personality.

However her next words would catch him by surprise.

"William... you are right, I am very dangerous. In fact, I may be the most dangerous being that you have met so far in your journey..."

His scowl disappeared in an instant and now a question mark formed on William's face.

Out of all of the scenarios that he had formed in his mind, her admitting to his accusations had not been one of them. What was she trying to pull...

Elsa meanwhile continued.

"But, I am only dangerous to my enemies and you are not one of them."

There was a short silence before a dry chuckle escaped William's lips. He looked into her bottomless blue eyes, a dark smile plastered on his lips.

"So tell me Elsa, who is your enemy then?"

To his surprise, the blond devil did not linger with her answer.

"My enemy is also your enemy. It's fate, that is who I am up against."

William's breathing came to a halt, and another moment of silence was shared between him and the blue-eyed girl.

Elsa on one side and Fate on the other. Were these two the real sides or was she lying. There was simply no way to tell. And despite his natural hatred for something like fate existing, William just couldn't trust the blue-eyed woman.

Another chuckle left his mouth.

"We have the same enemy, so what? Do you expect me to fall into your arms just because of that. I thought that picking between you and Adam had been a doomed decision, but no this absolutely tops it. But really though, how do you expect to gain my trust now that you have told me of how dangerous you really are?!"

Her gaze lingered on William as he caught his breath. But then suddenly, she looked slightly down to the sleeping black-haired girl.

A small and subtle smile formed on her pale face for just a single second. Short enough for William to not notice it.

Once her emotionless expression returned, her gaze shifted back to the black-haired boy who was now staring right back at her, a hostile light clear in his eyes.

"I do have a way to gain your trust William, but... how about you take your sister to a bed first, and wait for her to wake up. Once she does I can explain the ongoing conflict in detail as well as a bunch of other stuff that you need to know."

William took a second to look at Jane's lifeless body before staring back at Elsa. A frown of displeasure was apparent on his face.

"Yea, that sounds good. But just so you know, it doesn't matter what you do I will never trust you Elsa. If you really need me that badly just hijack my body with your mind manipulation, or does that ruin your plan somehow?"

Before she could reply, William had already turned his back to her and with Jane in his arms he made his way to the corridor where they had first entered the main room.

Due to having his back turned to her, William could not see her reaction to his words. However...

"She's smiling, I just know it."

Despite showing clearly that he would never trust Elsa she still seemed confident in whatever she was planning. This terrified William to his very core.

But right now, he had to throw these thoughts of cosmic conflict away for just a moment. What he needed to do right now was something much more mundane, it was to take care of his little sister.
