Chapter 69 - Chapter 68: Guns Drawn

"Kill! Kill him! Kill him now!"

Amid the frenzy, someone's shout broke through the crowd's shock. Yes—no matter how formidable Kitazawa Ryota was, he was still just one man.

Two fists could never match four hands. Never mind a hundred.

"Right! Kill him! Boss said whoever kills him gets ten million yen!"

"That's enough to vanish beyond reach."

"Everyone—charge! Kill him!"

"Yeah—no matter how heroic the Angel-slayer is, he's still flesh and blood! Flesh and blood—means he can die!"

Emboldened by the bounty, the Black Dragon Gang roared back to life.

Kitazawa Ryota watched as their eyes turned red with bloodlust. No more mercy.

Moments later—both parties launched their blades again. The only difference: his side had only one fighter. Him.

Blood splattered across the classroom once more.

The new round of slaughter had begun.

Twin sounds of steel clashing and slicing filled the air. Agonized screams mingled with bodies hitting wood and tile. The besieged teachers and students on the field covered their mouths, nearly gasping aloud.

Even the bravest couldn't help but think: He can't possibly survive this.

They believed it was over.

Not too long ago, Kishimoto Ishiki was smug—certain Kitazawa would fall today. Hattori Narumi cackled at the thought of claiming Asuka as his own, his father's power guaranteeing their safety.

But now—

Watching the massacre unfold, Kishimoto's face darkened.

Kitazawa was still alive. Still fighting. Despite everything—he endured.

Living under the onslaught of three hundred blades and still standing… no one had ever done that.

Even legendary swordsmen of old couldn't match this.

Beside him, Narumi paced angrily.

"Kishimoto-kun! Why isn't that brat dead yet?! How can you guarantee this? Is he a demon?!"

"I… I never expected this," Kishimoto ground out through clenched teeth.

That… that Kitazawa Ryota is unbelievably powerful.

Narumi hissed with rage.

"I don't care—he has to die! If three hundred isn't enough, make it four hundred. If blades don't kill him, use guns! He dies today, or I'm not done!"

Behind them, the walls trembled. The chaos echoed.

Kishimoto nodded slowly, jaw clenched.

Killing Ryota by any means necessary… and it's still not his problem. It's Hattori's mess now.

He barked orders to his aide.

"Get troops! Surround the school!"

"Yes, sir."

The aide believed it was reckless—but orders were orders.

---

Back in the classroom—bloodshed surged on.

Kitazawa Ryota battled flanking blades. Every swing he blocked, every opponent he felled—it was relentless.

He wielded a steel knife, its edge smudged with blood and bone.

His original blade was now dull—the steel had struck bone too many times. With a grunt, he picked up another dead man's knife nearby: shorter, but bloodied and deadly.

He lifted it and charged at the next attacker.

Blood and nightmare interwove with every strike.

Although the enemy's blades clanged and sparks flew, none pierced him—his protective barrier held fast. Each swing hit like metal on stone, leaving no mark on him.

But they fought on, pressed by desperation. If Ryota lived, they would die.

Amid the carnage, Ryota's gaze flicked to the window. If he survived this… what would they unleash next? What darker conspiracies lay waiting outside?

---

Meanwhile, outside on the street…

"One, two, three, four… there are five of them."

Rei Ayanami peeked from behind a parked car. Ahead stood five soldiers—rifles in hand—guarding the road ahead.

Tokyo-3 was locked down. Every checkpoint near NERV was manned. It was clear: this assault was meant to strike down Ryota—and cut off any rescue attempts.

All this… for one person?

Rei shook her head, dispelling her fear.

"What about Misato and Company?" she wondered, anxious.

Commander Ikari was still gone—leaving her cut off.

Their first priority: get inside NERV and rescue Ryota and Asuka.

But guns blocked their path.

Rei mulled over options—distraction, stealth, diversion.

Time was ticking—Ryota couldn't hold out much longer; Asuka was in even worse trouble.

Then Rei's lips set in quiet determination.

She straightened and stepped into the open.
