Chapter 67 - Chapter 66: Takei Musan

"…Fine…"

Asuka seemed, for once, to reluctantly compromise. She clenched her teeth, whispering to herself in frustration:

"Kitazawa Ryota… you'd better not die on me!"

Rei Ayanami had just finished changing into the police uniform when suddenly—

Asuka felt every hair on her body stand on end. An icy chill pierced through her skin and spread deep into her bones. Her entire body tensed up as an overwhelming sense of dread washed over her.

It was a terrifying feeling—one that made her scalp tingle, her breath catch.

She immediately turned toward the end of the alley, eyes narrowing sharply. Her instincts told her that this danger… it was coming from right outside.

They say a woman's intuition is rarely wrong—and this time was no exception.

Because in that very moment, a figure appeared before Asuka and Rei.

"Who's there?!"

Asuka immediately stepped in front of Rei, eyes locked on the silhouette, voice low and tense.

The figure was massive—tall and built like a boulder. The sunlight behind him made it impossible to clearly see his face.

"Heh… so the road to heaven you wouldn't walk, but the gates of hell? You walked right through."

The man's voice was deep and booming, like a speaker cranked to full volume. It made Asuka's ears ring.

"Who are you?!"

Asuka shouted, clenching her fists tightly.

"Heh, since you're both about to die, I suppose I can be merciful and tell you."

The towering figure finally stepped forward into the light, revealing his face.

He was massive—at least two meters tall, his frame thick like a mountain. A living wall of muscle. Even the Hulk might've looked small next to him.

His face was horrifying—covered in scars, each one a testament to some savage battle. Who knew how many blades this man had taken and survived?

Seeing him up close, both Asuka and Rei stiffened in disbelief.

His face… was the stuff of nightmares.

"Heh. What's wrong? You're scared, aren't you? Already trembling?"

The man sneered, baring a row of jagged, yellow teeth.

"Pitiful insects. Let me enlighten you. My name… is Takei Musan (OC). Remember it well—it's the name of the man who will end your lives."

"Takei Musan?!"

Rei blinked, surprised.

"What? Doll, why the reaction?"

Asuka gritted her teeth. "Don't tell me you're scared."

"Second-ranked enforcer of the Black Dragon Gang. Younger brother of Takei Munoi, the one Ryota just killed," Rei said evenly.

"He's listed in NERV's database. Haven't you read it?"

"I…"

Asuka paused. Truthfully, she hadn't paid much attention to intel reports like that.

NERV might've been a UN-affiliated paramilitary organization, but espionage and intelligence were still part of the job. Reports like those were routine—and often ignored. Only someone like Rei would've bothered to read them.

So Asuka didn't know. Understandable.

"Well, well… so you've heard of us. Good. You'll know who it was that ended your pitiful lives."

Takei Musan grinned again, his presence as suffocating as a collapsing ceiling.

"Of course, you only have yourselves to blame. You really thought we wouldn't notice two little rats sneaking around? Heh. How cute."

"Cut the crap. If you're gonna fight, come at us!"

Asuka spat, clenching her fists tighter.

"Fine. I'll deal with you two, and then I'll head back and finish off that punk, Kitazawa Ryota," Musan growled, stepping forward.

He was massive.

As Asuka looked up at him, she felt like she was staring at a brick wall. And worst of all—they were trapped. The alley was a dead end.

No escape.

Which meant one thing—they'd have to fight.

Without hesitation, Asuka lashed out, launching a swift roundhouse kick aimed at his side.

But she hadn't expected this:

Musan simply flicked his arm and caught her leg mid-air. Then, with his free hand, he threw a brutal left hook straight toward her.

Asuka twisted her body mid-air and narrowly dodged the full brunt of the blow. The shockwave from the missed punch rattled the alley walls. As soon as she landed, she pushed off again, aiming a fierce punch toward his face.

Asuka Langley Shikinami was no ordinary girl—she was a top-tier EVA pilot, trained in close-quarters combat. Her skills were elite.

But—

Musan suddenly smirked. And in the blink of an eye—

SMACK!

He delivered a savage backhand, slamming his palm against the side of her head.

The strike was raw, ruthless, and without any technique—just sheer brute force.

Asuka staggered back several steps. But before she could recover, his right hand crashed directly into her chest.

"Ugh!"

The pain exploded through her ribs like wildfire. Asuka doubled over, coughing violently, unable to breathe. Her throat burned, and her vision blurred.

And then—

BOOM!

Another punch. Like a freight train slamming into her.

The world around her blurred. It felt like she'd been struck by a pile driver, not a fist. The ground shook beneath her. Blood spilled from her mouth and nose. Her bones screamed in protest, cracking under the pressure.

That strike… was devastating.

There was no denying it—this monster was stronger than her. Far stronger.

So this… is Takei Musan.

Second Enforcer of the Black Dragon Gang.

God help me… Asuka thought, helplessly.
