New York was everything Lyon thought it'd be. The sights, the sounds, the buildings, even the people were exactly what he imagined them to be. Had he not known any better, then he would have believed that he was still back at his own Earth, given how normal everything seemed to be. However, it was only thanks to the Omnitrix wrapped around his wrist did he know that things weren't normal, and the occasional flying superhero reminded him that he wasn't at his Earth. It was certainly a sobering thought, but he enjoyed the sights around him nonetheless.
Sitting at a park bench, Lyon idly licked a green ice cream cone in his hand, enjoying the minty goodness he hadn't had in a long time. And thanks to Ghostfreak and his abilities did Lyon manage to procure enough cash from the local thugs and gang members, which meant he could sustain himself for a little while. Granted, Ghostfreak's instant K.O felt like overkill against them, but he didn't exactly want to be spotted so early, let alone show up as an attention-grabbing alien. Lyon didn't exactly want anyone catching wind of him just yet.
After all, a story of a ghost in the alleys wouldn't drawn as much attention to him if he were to any other alien. It made things a bit more ambiguous, rather it being specific. And it bought Lyon time, enough for him to think, at least.
"Ah, I love New York. Especially on a beautiful day like this." Lyon said to himself, grinning wide as he finished up the last of his ice cream. With a carefree smile, Lyon wrapped his hands behind his head, and simply stared at the cloudy blue sky above him. He let out a small sigh, shaking his head. "Why's it always gotta start out in New York, huh? Could've been somewhere better. Like Colorado or Texas. Shit." He said to himself as he palmed his face and exhaled.
Lyon took a deep breath, calming his nerves as he pulled out a small device from his back. He fiddled with for a few seconds, the PDA coming online as it synced up with the supercomputer. Tapping the screen, Lyon took a quick look at various feeds across the states, ranging from Chicago to Dallas. It was thanks to his supercomputer that he was able to monitor so many places at once. Yet, even he knew it still wasn't enough just to watch.
He needed to act, to take his first big step, but he just didn't know where.
"Maybe I'm overthinking this." Lyon muttered under his breath, collapsing the PDA and putting it back in his pocket. He stared at the Omnitrix on his wrist, a scoff leaving his lips. "What'd Ben do? Dust himself off and just... roll with it, I guess? Might as well take a page from his book. I just gotta dumb things down. Not like anything's gonna-" He said, only to be interrupted when a massive explosion shook the earth around him. Lyon was knocked onto the ground, caught off guard by the sudden explosion.
Groaning, Lyon put a hand to his head, hearing the ringing in his ears blare. He grunted, shaking himself off as he turned his entire body to face the building behind him. Smoke, fire, and ash rose forth from the building, screams following soon after as the ringing left Lyon's ears. He clicked his tongue, his heart thumping in his chest as he did the stupidest thing he could imagine: run towards the danger. Lyon moved, and ran towards the burning building.
"A bank robbery!? Really!? In New York? Surrounded by superheroes? God, this guy's stupider than I am!" Lyon exclaimed, sirens beginning to blare a good distance away. "Okay, shit. Didn't think it'll happen this soon. Fuckin' hell. Okay, guess we're doing this now." He hissed in a panicked voice, his mind barely having time to process his situation. His heart began to beat hard in his chest, his teeth grit as he pushed through the smoke.
There was no more time for thinking over things. People were hurt, people could be dead. The cops wouldn't be here for another few minutes, and there was hardly anyone who could help that was nearby. Whoever was responsible for this, Lyon was going to make sure he got rid of that problem. He had the means to do so, and all he needed to do was use it. It was that simple.
Around him, Lyon could hear faint, pained moaning and noises coming from everywhere around him. As the smoke began to clear slowly, Lyon could make out the forms of people, trapped under rubble, some looking worse for wear. Many were bleeding, many were unable to move. The sight made Lyon's blood boil, and he glanced at where the smoke and fire were coming from. He could hear even more moaning in that direction, and the sound of footsteps.
"Ah, nothing like a bank robbery to start off the day. No heroes in sight!" A masculine, deep voice broke out from the smoke. Soon enough, a large man began to step out of the burning bank, a smile on his face, while the upper portion of his head was covered in a helmet of some kind. In one hand, he held a duffle bag full of cash, with multiple bills fluttering in the wind, disintegrating from the fire. However, his left hand was completely gone, replaced with a cybernetic of some kind. The cyborg turned towards Lyon, and glared right at him. "And lookie 'ere, we got ourselves a little hero steppin' up. How fuckin' adorable. Guess I wasn't thorough enough." The cyborg sneered.
Gritting his teeth, Lyon stood up to face the cyborg. With a look of sheer disgust stretching across his features, Lyon glanced all around him, then to Killcannon. "You. You're gonna pay for hurting these people." Lyon snarled, readying the Omnitrix as he dialed in his alien. "Nice flashlight, asshole. Can't wait to tear it off and shove it up your ass." He said, a grin beginning to find purchase on his face.
"Keep blabberin', kid. It ain't gonna keep you livin' for long." Killcannon shot back, leveling his laser-gun-arm directly at Lyon. "And who are you dialin' in that fancy watch of yours, boy? Your momma? She ain't gonna be here to see you die!" The cyborg shouted, firing off a crimson blast at Lyon.
Without hesitation, Lyon slapped the Omnitrix's face. In a flash of emerald green light, his body began to change. He grew taller, his bones and flesh replaced by a purplish-colored rock. From it, grew several pink-colored crystals on his back, chest, and arms; the same crystals becoming his new hands. His face contorted, flattening and hardening, a singular green eye now taking its place, along with a crystal structure which formed his mouth. And as soon as the light faded, Lyon jumped into action.
"Chromastone!" Lyon shouted, charging towards the barreling laser beam without a shred of hesitation. Stepping between it and the the wounded behind him, Lyon grinded to a halt, allowing the laser to hit him. He felt no pain at all, the laser fizzling into his rocky body as he channeled its energy into him, ultimately making the beam do nothing. "Haven't given this guy a whirl. As good a time as any to deal with a one-trick pony." He announced, prismatic energy radiating off of him.
"Who you callin' one trick, you freak!?" Killcannon roared, a look of anger on his face as he began to fire more laser blasts from his arm. "I don't know what the fuck you are, but you're dead!" The raging cyborg bellowed out.
"Yeah? Keep talking then! That's all you're good for anyway!" Lyon shot back, allowing the lasers to continue to hit him, using their energy to charge up his prismatic power. "It doesn't take a genius to wave their arms around and shoot stuff. Lemme show you how a pro does it!" He shouted, raising a hand and firing a rainbow-colored bolt of energy directly at Killcannon.
The bolt made direct impact, sending Killcannon reeling back as he tried to recover from the blast. Seizing his chance, Lyon surged forth, propelling himself using Chromastone's flight. Getting in nice and close, Lyon then used his momentum to punch Killcannon square in the jaw, preventing the cyborg from standing up. Now on the floor, Killcannon tried to fire off another blast from his arm, only for Lyon to grab the end of the barrel and allow it to fire into his hand, absorbing it into himself. Picking up Killcannon by the collar, Lyon then grabbed his gun-arm, yanking off the cybernetic completely.
For good measure, Lyon then grabbed Killcannon by the collar with both hands, reeled his head back, and delivered a powerful headbutt directly into Killcannon's forehead. The force of the blow shattered the villain's helmet and red visor, knocking him out cold as Killcannon groaned, slumping into unconsciousness. Satisfied, Lyon then threw him on the ground, and looked all around him. He saw that there people still in need of his help,
With a look of determination, Lyon then flew directly into the burning bank, hearing the screams and moans from everyone inside. In his mind, however, Lyon lamented that he didn't have Heatblast or Water Hazard in his roster. They would have made the job of rescuing civilians a little easier, but he wasn't going to turn a challenge away. Chromastone was good enough for what he needed to do anyways.
"Don't worry! I'm coming to help you! Just hang on!" Lyon called out to the survivors, using his enhanced strength to break the burning debris and picked up a wounded receptionist. "I've got you, ma'am! Just don't freak out! You'll be out of this in no time! First responders are on their way!" He exclaimed, carrying the woman on his back, making sure she wasn't poked by the crystals on his back.
Whipping his head back, Lyon spotted another survivor, a man, dangling by a piece of debris on the second floor, and another pinned by some rubble. Flying towards the first man, Lyon grabbed him by his jacket, floating down towards the ground and knocked the debris off of the other survivor. Grabbing the second man by his suit, Lyon then flew towards the entrance of the building, dropping them off right next to the other survivors. And already, he could hear the sirens getting closer.
Still, Lyon didn't have time to sit and wait. And without uttering so much as a word, Lyon went right back into the burning bank. Using Chromastone's flight, he would pick up any straggler he could, letting them ride on his back or picking them up between his arms. One by one, Lyon would pick up anyone he could, then dropped them off by the front of the building. This repeated for some time, until finally, the police had arrived on scene.
Lyon had a chance to catch his breath as he stepped out into the light, from the smoke as every single gun was then cocked and pointed right at him. Blinking owlishly, Lyon raised both of his hands, trying to not look as threatening as possible. Still, he chose not to revert back to his human form, in fear of being shot. He was only human, after all.
"Freeze! Keep your hands where I can see them!" The first officer, a large, African-American man shouted at him, pointing his Glock directly at Lyon from behind his squad car. "Don't make any sudden moves! I will not warn you again!" The barked out.
"Wait, you're yelling at me? The hell, man!? Can't you see I'm busy trying to do your job!? This is the asshole causing all the commotion! Not me!" Lyon tried to argue, pointing at Killcannon who was currently still unconscious and on the floor. However, before he could do anything further, the officers in front of him began to shout at him, their voices speaking incoherently over each other. "Seriously!? This is the welcome I get!? Not even a 'thank you'!? Jeez! This day can't get any more-" He shouted, frustration building inside him as his sentence was cut off.
His green eye widened. And there, flying in front of several helicopters, was a familiar-looking flying bike of some kind. In the pilot's seat, was a copper-colored machine with green eyes, staring directly at him. Hanging off the sizes of the flying bike, was a young man with an orange-colored costume, as well as a young Asian woman in a spandex costume. And flying beside them was a ginger-haired young woman, in a pink spandex costume, pink energy radiating from her hands as she also stared at him.
Huh, seems the Teen Team decided to pay a visit.
Wisely, Lyon kept his hands up, deciding that it wouldn't be a good idea to mess with the second-most terrifying woman in this universe. He certainly didn't want to take his chances with someone who can rearrange the atomic structure of any object or living being as she wished. Lyon wasn't suicidal, nor did he want to be possible transformed into a banana. So his best option was to cooperate.
"Okay. Guess I shouldn't've jinxed it, huh?"
