Chapter 13 - A Better Life

To sleep, was seeming impossible. He had been lying down for the past two hours and yet, he was unable to close those eyes and doze off. Memoriesp00 kept pouring in. He saw himself, or rather the current him, he saw the past life of the current him.

"How helpless he must have felt as he got drowned in that pool." he said to no one as he rolled in bed.

"How did you feel Hee-mang? True, I might have taken possession of your body, I am yet to feel how you felt when you had to go through all these things. But they look hurtful. If only you can speak to me and explain to me how it ended this way. Why am I in your body? If I am in your body, where are you? In mine? Would you have survived the drowning? I jumped into a river, I doubt you will survive that." he sighs as he shut his eyes forcefully.

"Say Hee-mang, what would you have done if you were still alive in your own body? Would you have completed what you started, or quit it as soon as you got threatened with death?"

He stared into the ceiling and blinked his eyes slowly.

"I wish I get to meet you someday. You seem like a nice person, one with morals. Your father must have been very stupid to have discarded you at the words of those whores. You deserved better."

He sat up on the bed as he wasn't feeling any better lying down.

"Don't worry Hee-mang, I'll help you live a better life. Get you a good wife, move away from here, have kids, set up a small business. I'm very good with handwork, so running a business won't be an issue. That is definitely a better life than struggling to prove your identity to a family that doesn't cherish you. Trust me Hee-mang, if you ever come back to your body after I have achieved this for you, you will thank me for the peaceful life you shall live henceforth. I'm sure you will come to love your future wife. I would have gone on ahead with marrying the woman of your dreams, but it seems like you have none. I hope you are happy where ever you are."

Lying back on the bed, he closed his eyes and soon drifted off to sleep.

He was in a drunken state. Walking away from the inn he had just gotten himself drunk.

"That idiot, of all days to leave town, he just had to choose now."

He staggered as he walked forward, losing balance and falling face flat on the hard floor.

"Ah, seriously." he said as he got up and dusted off his robe.

"I really didn't drink much, so why am I acting like a drunk. This is so frustrating. Everything is."

He looked up at the dark sky, the moon was no where to be found.

"Tonight just seems different for some reason."

He continued his journey back home, feeling dizzy, too dizzy. He was a late night one, yet, it wasn't midnight and he felt as if he hadn't slept for over a week.

"I should hasten my steps, I can't spend the night in public, on the streets, that will only soil my family's name."

Hastening his steps, he suddenly felt himself slowing down, he was getting really dizzy, he could not force himself to stay awake.

Walking slowly, he became tired, too tired to continue the journey home. And he fell into the bush by the pathway.

"Took you so long." a voice said as rustling sounds of the bush was heard
