c136: Frieza Joins the Battle! Reach the Realm of Nothingness
Capsule Corporation launch pad for the space capsule.
Everyone was still waiting for Goku to return with Frieza, and even the seasoned veterans looked unsettled.
First came the reality that the two Zenos sitting at the absolute peak had decreed erasure for universes that lost. It wasn't an empty threat; they had already demonstrated that frightening power. For mortals like them, the mandate felt like a cold blade at the throat.
They had to win the Tournament of Power for Universe 7 to continue existing. The price: become "villains" to every other universe by eliminating them from the stage. And while twelve universes existed, only eight low-mortal-level universes had been forced to participate; the others (Universes 1, 5, 8, and 12) were exempt. Even so, the effective odds were harsh one winner, everyone else erased and the pressure doubled as that truth sank in.
A brutal calculus.
Then there was Frieza. Recruiting him meant betting their lives on the galaxy's most incorrigible tyrant. Some former enemies like No. 17 had truly reformed through Goku's relentless faith. But Frieza was different. No matter how many defeats he suffered, he always stood up again, sharper and more poisonous. For Universe 7's soldiers, fear and hatred toward Frieza had grown like a reflex.
Beerus suddenly stood, tail flicking. He glanced at Whis. "Whis. Let's take a walk."
Whis understood at once and nodded. "As you wish, Lord Beerus."
They gave a brief nod to the others and vanished in a ripple of angelic light.
Luya watched them go, piecing together the likely answer then purposefully set the thought aside.
A few minutes later, a familiar pressure brushed the air; everyone turned.
Beerus and Whis reappeared with Goku and Frieza.
Expressions hardened across the room.
Frieza.
"Hey! Kept you waiting!" Goku greeted, cheerful as ever.
No one answered the greeting; every gaze locked on the emperor with the halo above his head. Vegeta's jaw tightened, his eyes like ice.
"Hoh hoh hoh… how nostalgic," Frieza purred, posture relaxed, malice disguised as poise. "Since we're teammates now, do look after me."
"Frieza," Vegeta said flatly, aura prickling, "try anything and I'll end you."
"My, Prince Vegeta, still flinching at the sight of me?" Frieza teased, honey over venom. "There's no need to tremble. I won't do a thing… yet."
Vegeta's teeth clicked. He looked one breath away from exploding.
The headache spread across the room Gohan, Krillin, even No. 18 felt it. Internal strife here would be a disaster on the stage.
"Let them handle it," Piccolo said, arms folded, voice cool.
"Okay, okay!" Goku stepped between them. "Vegeta, put it on hold. Frieza's fighting for our universe now. And you Frieza remember what we agreed with Fortuneteller Baba. You've got 24 hours on loan. If you step out of line, I will erase you first."
"Hoh hoh… understood," Frieza said, smiling in a way that meant anything but submission.
His gaze drifted and met Luya's.
Frieza's smile thinned. "So, you're participating as well, hmm? I do remember being escorted back to that… charming afterlife garden, thanks to you."
Luya's eyes were cool. A corner of his mouth lifted. "Interesting. Looks like you've trained since last time."
"Of course. I've perfected Golden Frieza no more stamina collapse." Frieza took a step closer, the air subtly tightening. "Care to test it?"
"Frieza," Goku warned, frown deepening.
Luya closed the distance without flinching. The two stood face-to-face, a hairline crack of killing intent humming between them.
"I hope you last," Frieza murmured. "It would be a bore otherwise."
"Don't worry," Luya replied lightly. "Even if you're out, I won't be."
Their smiles were civil; their meanings were not.
Beerus cut across the tension, voice like a guillotine. "Enough. We depart now. Anyone who dares to take this lightly will answer to me."
No one doubted him. With the universe on the line, the God of Destruction would not hesitate.
"With our lineup, we'll pull it off," Goku said, confidence unwavering.
"Spare me the bravado," Whis said with an airy chuckle. "Remember the rules the Grand Priest laid down: 48-minute battle royale, ring-out elimination, no killing, no weapons, no flight by ki, if you have natural wings, that's different. Teamwork matters, or you'll be peeled off one by one."
He lifted his staff, eyes twinkling. "Also… there are rumors of a warrior from another universe whose power rivals perhaps surpasses a God of Destruction. Consider yourselves warned."
"Surpass… a God of Destruction?" Krillin swallowed hard.
Goku and Vegeta exchanged a look. Far from fear, a rare fire kindled the heat that only a worthy wall could ignite. Peaks existed to be climbed.
"Rumors are rumors," Whis finished, smiling. "But do your best."
"No," Beerus said, golden eyes hard. "Do better than that. Win. Protect yourselves. Don't get knocked out early."
Everyone nodded.
"The time's up," Whis concluded. With a gesture, angelic light unfurled, pulling in the two Kaiōshin alongside the team. Space inverted.
As they vanished, Bulma clasped her hands, eyes on the empty air. "Come back safe… all of you."
…
The World of Void the Null Realm.
A place true to its name: a featureless, silent space where only the arena existed built by the Grand Priest using impossibly dense, god-grade materials (harder even than Kachi Katchin). The structure was vast: a spinning-top-shaped stage with a monumental central pillar anchoring the rules of the match. Around the periphery floated tiered viewing platforms for each participating universe.
At the highest dais sat two Zenos, side by side and gleeful, four attendants at their backs. They tapped at their tablets, playing and comparing notes, innocent smiles belying absolute power.
"Them," the Grand Priest said gently, eyes flicking to his masters, "have arrived."
Twin "Eh?"s from the kings, bright and curious.
Light spilled onto the arena dozens of figures resolving from the glow. Champions from across eight universes, each a blade drawn for survival.
Team Universe 7 stepped onto the stone.
"Amazing!" Goku grinned, drinking in the sheer scale. "So this is the Tournament of Power stage huge!"
"This is the World of Void," Whis explained softly. "No distractions, no collateral damage. The perfect ring for a battle where everything is at stake."
Gohan exhaled, eyes tracking the vast circumference. "A stage this big forces formation tactics. I thought it might be smaller… this will be chaos."
Krillin scanned the gathering fighters their stances, breathing, the quiet confidence. "They all look… scary. None of them are pushovers."
Goku's grin sharpened. "Even better. The stronger they are, the more fired up I get."
Vegeta's aura whispered like a storm held in check. Piccolo's gaze narrowed, already mapping threats and patrol routes. No. 17's eyes passed over the crowd with a ranger's calm. No. 18 adjusted her gloves, measuring distances. Frieza's smile remained faint and unreadable; the halo above his head glowed softly, a reminder and a threat.
And Luya jaw set, spirit steady felt the weight and the invitation of the void. Somewhere out there, a warrior rumored to eclipse even a God of Destruction waited. Good. Barriers only existed to be shattered.
The bell had not rung, but every heartbeat said the same thing:
Win or vanish.
