Chapter 3 - "The Sound That Cannot Be Heard"

The darkness in the dream was thick...

No sun.

No moon.

Only fog, writhing around her like a silent serpent.

Kira was running—

In a place she didn't recognize, with voices clashing inside her head.

Screams… footsteps…

And then—her father's face.

> "Kira, time's up. They're coming."

She cried out:

> "But… I don't want to leave you!"

He smiled sadly, reaching his hand toward her chest.

A small white light passed into her, and she suddenly felt a strange warmth spread through her body.

> "This… is my power, Kira. It will hide you. From them. From the fog. From everything.

Just live. That's all I ask."

Then…

Gunshots.

She woke up with a gasp, breathing hard.

She was in her room, inside the Cravell Facility, surrounded by artificial silence.

It wasn't the first nightmare.

But every time she woke… she felt the same weight in her chest.

As if her father's soul still lingered.

She wiped her forehead and stood up.

Today… she had a mission.

---

A small medical team from Cravell set out toward the edges of the fog, led by Doctor Kira herself.

The mission was simple: analyze the fog's effect in a newly expanded zone and check for signs of new mutations.

But Kira felt something odd.

The closer they got to the coordinates, the harder her heart pounded…

As if the fog itself was calling to her.

They arrived.

The air here… was dense with energy.

> "Set up the equipment. We won't stay long,"

Kira ordered firmly, hiding her unease.

But before they could finish—

A sound echoed from the depths. A roar.

Then… the monsters appeared.

Four of them.

Twisted bodies. Protruding bones.

They moved faster than humans.

The team began to flee—

But Kira couldn't move.

Her head throbbed. Her eyes flickered.

The fog… was screaming.

As the monsters reached ground zero and lunged toward her—

An explosion.

A blade of shadow pierced one.

The second fell without ever seeing its attacker.

A figure stood in the mist—

Wearing a black coat.

Dark hair flying.

Arato.

He leapt at the monsters, one by one.

He still couldn't control his power—

But rage alone was enough.

Moments later…

Silence.

Kira stared at him—

Then collapsed.

---

Two days earlier…

Arato stood before the new commander of Cravell, receiving an offer.

> "Join us. Your power can help.

And we'll keep Ren in our care until he recovers."

He didn't answer immediately.

But when he looked at Ren, sleeping in his bed…

He nodded.

---

The convoy returned to Cravell.

Kira was in a coma.

Arato sat beside her bed, unsure why he saved her…

Only knowing that she wasn't supposed to die.

But elsewhere…

In a place unseen, a council was watching.

The council of the Nizaria Organization.

Screens displayed footage from the incident.

Images of Kira.

Of Arato.

One member said:

> "There's a strange frequency in that girl…

Almost like the original fog signal."

Another replied:

> "She's close to it…

But we didn't find that in her bloodwork."

The council leader said nothing.

He simply stood from his chair.

His eyes glowing with shadows.

> "Study her further.

But carefully.

We don't want to wake the beast… before we know if it's sleeping or wide awake."

---

And in one of Cravell's corridors…

Kira whispered in her sleep:

> "Father…

The fog…

It's screaming again."
