Chapter 230 - The Groken Arc: Six

A large burly pixie with silver armor and dark orange wings, jumped from the balcony of the royal palace, the guards already doing their best to gaurd the palace from the onslaught of wolves.

A woman with blue hair, light pink wings, and an orb could feel when Zor took his last breath. She flew to the scene, her wings flapping 250 miles per hour. She ducked through the trees, the grass, the large mushrooms abundant in Groken. Claudine even flew past the witches by the Groken, but she couldn't stop there. She needed to get to her friend.

The pixie landed and stepped back, appalled and disgusted to see a large wolf feasting on his body, his organs scattered throughout, the grass painted red in his blood.

The wolf stood up and smirked at the pixie. Her form transformed from the werewolf to her human form. Zhiliary walked nude to the woman, her claws extended by her canines, and entire body was just covered in blood.

Crack, Pop!

The sky roared above, the magae of the Groken tree slowly ripping apart into thin threads. Every priestess and priest on this planet were probably wide awake now.

CLANK!

Claudine's armored boot slammed Zhiliary's jaw sideways mid-stride, teeth spraying crimson droplets onto the dew-heavy grass.

No words.

Only the wet smack of bone-on-metal, the jarring vibration traveling up Claudine's leg as she twisted away from the swipe of Zhiliary's claws. Those talons whistled past her ear, whispering death. She smelled it too: the fresh blood soaking Zhiliary's skin, mixed sickeningly with the the entire environment of Groken.

Claudine pivoted, her silver armor scraping against Zhiliary's shoulder. The impact sent a tremor through them both, sharp and electric as the ozone-laden air crackling overhead. Zhiliary moved like liquid shadow, impossibly fast despite her nakedness, exploiting every gap Claudine's bulky pixie frame couldn't protect.

A claw raked across Claudine's forearm guard, sparks flying, leaving molten grooves that hissed against the humid twilight. The taste of iron flooded Claudine's mouth, her own lip split from Zhiliary's counter-kick, sharp and hungry.

Blood spilt from the pixie's lip. She jumped back to give herself some distance between her and Zhiliary. This wolf was strong. They walked in circles around one another. The entire time, Zhiliary still kept her smile on Claudine. A smirk, like the wolf was mocking her. Mocking Claudine for what the wolf had done to Zor.

She took a deep breath through her nose, smelling the blood that Zhiliary was covered in. She was ready to attack.

SWOOSH!

She landed the orb down on Zhiliary who blocked it.

Zhiliary lunged, a crimson blur closing the distance before Claudine's next breath. Claudine pivoted hard, the wolf's claws whistling past her throat, grazing the silver gorget with a screech that set her teeth on edge.

Claudine countered with a knee strike; it was brutal, piston-fast and aimed at Zhiliary's ribs, but the wolf twisted mid-air. Bone crunched against armored greave instead, the sickening impact vibrating up Claudine's leg.

Zhiliary hissed, a sound more serpent than wolf, but didn't falter. She used the momentum, spinning low to rake her talons across Claudine's exposed thigh. Agony bloomed hot and wet. Fabric and skin shredded. Blood slicked Claudine's leg, warm against the cool evening air.

She screamed!

SLAM!

The man and his silver armor slammed on the ground, causing the witches to fly back away from the Groken tree.

Thud, thud!

Landing onto the ground roughly with a few landed on their feet with pristine and elegance such as Hacate, Tany, and the Three G's.

Tany held up her hand to use the 'kill instant' spell but Glinda ran to her, and pushed it down ward. Both women ran toward the large pixie with the dark orange wings.

Glinda jumped into the air, twisted and performed a kick with her heal shoe to his face. The pixie grabbed her leg and threw her to the side, Glinda dispersed into tiny Monarch butterflies, and fluttered to the man.

Tany slammed her hands onto the ground, a surge of electricity clawed its way toward the pixie, but he lifted himself up into the air.

Hacate ran in the air, putting her palms together to create a force that pushed him toward the tree.

"Ugh, let's just kill him and be on with it," Tany exclaimed, irritated by a battle like this.

"No," Hacate calmly said. She landed onto the ground and with another hand movement, she opened a portal, pink and purple coloring. And with that the demons rushed through.

The creatures were quick, given orders to take down any pixie within their path, but keeping them alive. And as Zhiliary stood before Claudine, still in a bloody upheaval, the demons flew and scaled their way toward them.

"CAPTURE THEM, CAPTURE THEM ALL!"

"Tsk," Claudine said, she jumped into the air, twirling her orb.

Claudine spun like a silver-scaled whirlwind, her dark orange wings slicing through the humid air as the first demon lunged. Its claws scraped against her armored thigh guard, throwing sparks that hissed against the blood-slicked grass.

She didn't need words; the orb pulsed with azure light in her grip, its magae vibrating through her bones as she brought it down in a crushing arc.

The demon's chitinous skull crumpled like dry leaves under frost, spraying black ichor that steamed where it hit the dew-laden earth.

Claudine landed in a crouch, wings buzzing like angry hornets, already pivoting as two more nightmares scrabbled toward her. Their claws tore furrows in the bloody ground where Zor's remains lay scattered, a visceral fuel igniting her fury.

She blurred upward, avoiding talons that scraped silver from her greaves, the orb leaving trails of cold blue light as she hammered it sideways into a demon's thorax. Ribs shattered with the wet crunch of stepping on rotten timber.

But as she kept fighting, they kept coming. The screams of her comrades echoed in her ear, the howls of the wolves as they celebrated in triumph surrounded her. All and all, there was the lead Alpha, mocking her with that canine smile.

Claudine did her best to control her breathing, her exhaustion. She just hope Grunk was fairing better at the tree.
