A burst of bats flew around Faye until they turned into Makala. Faye stepped in front of Makala so the grim wouldn't see her.
"What are you still doing here?" Her chin was shaking. The snow was picking up, turning into a blizzard.
Makala shoved the priestess. "You left me. We can fight together."
"You are out of your mind. You may get splashed with holy water or step back onto the church. Makala, go home!" Faye glared into her.
Makala didn't have time to argue, a vampire formed back into himself and took out a glock from his waste. He shot it at the grim but Faye thread over to the big dog, and used her needle to block it.
The grim jumped over and bit the leg of the vampire. The vampire attempted to get away and when he shot once more at the dog, the bullet went through it.
Faye smiled, remembering the grim was just s spirit. She threaded to the vampire and stabbed him in the heart with a needle.
She took his gun and checked it, then proceeded to shoot at another vampire that was flying towards her. She screamed and landed on the ground in the snow. Faye pointed the gun at her and shot her in the heart, the snow below her turning black.
The grim and Faye looked at one another, understanding the two were one in the same realm when it came to assisting spirits and the after life.
Makala coward within the snow. She was stunned as she just watched Faye take the life of two vampires. She...she wasn't sure how she felt by that. That must have been what Faye was speaking of when she spoke how Sous killed so easily.
Three vampires ran toward Faye and Grim and dispersed into tiny bats. Faye jumped into the air and twisted over. She landed onto the back of the large black dog. Together they galloped toward the bats ready to strike.
Faye closed one eye, allowing her silver eye to scan which bat was the one with the soul and which ones were simply clones.
"Got cha!" She threw her needle at one of the bats. The bats combusted and turned into the original vampire. He fell to the snow, a needle in his heart. Her eyes flashed, seeing his spirit leave his body.
Two other group of bats remained. The grim sniffed the air, knowing where they were. With the blizzard getting stronger, Faye had to come up with a plan.
The vampires coming at her were coming in endless supply. She wondered if the grim would listen to her wanting to go to the witch.
She looked out over the snow and beyond. She still saw the light flickering.
Faye patted the Grim on its head and she jumped off. She began to thread through the air, her needles using the snow to give her leverage.
Her eye flashed when she threw her needle toward toward the light source.
CRASH!
The glass broke; the light going out. Faye landed at the hut where the witch lived. She took a breath and walked to the door. When she reached out to touch the doorknob, Makala pulled her by the collar, and pushed her against the wall of the house. The vampire had tears in her eyes.
Faye said nothing, maybe Makala just thought she was bluffing or something.
"You killed them back there!"
Faye brought her hands to Makala's. The vampire was so cold but was it because she had a heart that didn't beat or because of the weather?
She brought her into a tight bear hug and whispered into her ear. "Go home, Makala, please."
The howl of the grim sounded off in the distance and a sly laughter found its way into Faye and Makala's ears. The two girls looked at one another with Makala grabbing a hold of Faye's arm.
Mist surrounded them, adding to the blizzard that was already blowing heavily that night.
Then blackness.
When they opened their eyes, they were located in place that wasn't familiar to them, but it had the makings of a throne room. There was an aisle and off from the aisle were statues. Statues that when Faye stepped up to one seemed to be of a creature she wasn't familiar with.
A creature who had the snout of a horse, the fangs of a tiger, tentacles of a squid, one wing upon the middle of its back, claws for hands, and humanoid legs.
"I get the impression these statues are going to come to life," Makala whispered in Faye's ear, afraid.
"I get the impression you're right," Faye responded back. Even still, she noticed that ahead of them, there was a pillar. Behind the pillar, a crucifix.
A stone bowl sat a top the small thin pillar.
"The water," Faye said.
She walked towards it but when she took a step, the statues began to make movement. Makala jumped, hiding behind Faye.
"Tilkalde!" Faye slammed her hand on the ground. Once she saw the ground crack, she took Makala by the hand and ran toward the holy water bowl while the dead took care of the statues.
Faye picked the bowl up and took one of her needles and threw it to the roof where there was a hole big enough for them.
"Hold on!" Makala took hold of Faye, the two soared upward. But the room suddenly flipped upside down and the two found themselves falling while the statues and the dead were rising.
They fell through the hole, landing in the snow. The bowl fell on Faye's face, the water spilling out onto the snow.
"No!" Faye yelled out.
"Why can't we use water from the other churches surrounding the priemeter?" Makala asked.
"Because it doesn't transfer. The witch did something to make it nearly impossible for this church to have holy water." She kicked the bowl and yelled out, "Putain!"
It was cold, moist, she was freezing. She shook with anger at this witch playing tricks on her.
"Come on," she took Makala by the waist and threaded her to the church. Faye ran inside to speak with the priest. He was by the alter. She slammed on her hands down on it. "What did you do for the witch to curse this church and side with the vampires?"
The priest bowed his head and walked toward the fireplace, his hands still behind his back.
The ice crystals that formed on Faye's glasses began to melt and her vision became clear. Impressive, she was able to do what she did practically blind.
"We are not proud of that part of our history so we don't like talking about it," he said.
