Chapter 90 - The Sparring Club Arc: Six

Pixie Boy entered into the arena with his hands in his pockets and his head lowered. He didn't want to have any attention focused on him. He walked toward the Hacate team's area of the arena. When he looked up into the bleachers, he saw Makala laughing and joking with some of her girl friends. Down onto the floor was Sous, Faye, the rest of the team, and the instructor. Pixie Boy didn't know who was currently on the floor, he didn't know what year was currently sparring, and he didn't even know what martial arts they were performing. He didn't care for any of that.

Pixie Boy walked up the steps of the bleachers and made his way in between people towards Makala.

"Hi Makala," he said.

Makala looked up from watching the match and smiled at Pixie Boy, surprised to see him here. She stood up and hugged him.

"I didn't know you were going to come," she said.

Pixie Boy looked down and saw Sous and Faye looking at him. Its was Faye who kept her eyes on him, Sous seemed optimistic but Pixie Boy could tell she was fighting back from reality. It was like she didn't want to admit what he was planning. She was a smart wolf after all.

He smirked at Makala. "I came by because I wanted to give yer something."

"What?"

Pixie Boy stepped back and took the potion bottle out of his pocket. He opened it and splashed the substance on her. Makala immediately felt the effects and let out a painful scream.

The potion Pixie Boy splashed on her ate away at the cloaking spell that she used to withstand the sun. As the potion ate the spell away, her skin began to burn and whither under the light, even the artificial light in the arena. She screamed trying to cover herself but everything burned. Her friends covered her, screaming at Pixie Boy.

"WHAT DID YOU DO?" One girl screamed.

"ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL HER?" Another one screamed out.

No, he was trying to hurt her like she hurt him. All those months ignoring him and looking away from him in his disillusioned mind.

"MAKALA!" Faye got up and went towards the vampire. She watched as all those around Makala panicked. "She needs to get out of the light!"

Instructor Song, Mara, and many other professors came forward to assist with Makala, picking up her body. One instructor covered her with a blanket and they rushed down the bleacher stairs.

"Follow me. I have a dark place she can go to heal in the infirmary."

Everything in the arena stopped. Faye saw red. Pixie Boy was already trying to escape, not by running but by blending into the crowd. When he threw the liquid onto Makala, he exchanged few words and turned to leave.

Faye took out her needles and threaded toward the Pixie Boy, Sous followed.

Pixie Boy placed his hand on the arena's door but Faye threw down one of her needles. It stabbed him in the arm and also landed in the door. He was stuck. "DANIEL!" She yelled. He looked up and saw her falling from above with her needle pointing at him. He closed his eyes.

It wasn't Pixie Boy she stabbed but Sous' two hands. The girl blocked the needle from killing Pixie Boy. She gritted her teeth, her canines showing, her claws extracted.

"GET OUT MY WAY!" Faye yelled. She pushed the needle deeper into Sous' palms. Even though the girl flinched, she didn't move. The needle had already impaled her palms and was centimeters away from impaling her chest.

"For what? So you can kill him and the then the hunters come after you? Think, Faye!"

Tears began to fall from Faye's eyes. It was Sous' fault. She tried to warn Sous. She tried to warn everyone but no one listened to her. She was angry. Faye stabbed the needle in some more and this time, it pierced into Sous's shoulder. The blonde let out a yelp.

"You didn't believe me!"

"You're right," Sous agreed, grunting from the pain. "I didn't. I should have listened. I should have paid more attention. Makala is hurt because of me. When I saw him making that potion, I should have said something to Instructor Pickle. I should have warned him. I was stupid." She confessed all this to Faye. "I'm sorry, Faye, and I'm sorry to Makala."

Faye rubbed the tears away and took the needles out of Sous' and Pixie Boy's body. He took that chance to try and fly away since going through the door wasn't an option. Faye threaded toward him and got onto his back. With the strength of her plus her needles, Faye cut his wings off. She jumped off his back as Pixie Boy fell from the sky toward the arena floor.

Sous jumped toward him to try and catch him but she missed him by inches. He landed hard onto the floor. When his face connected with the floor, it about flatten like a pancake, and combusted like a cake. Blood spilled out all over him and began to form a large puddle on the ground where he laid.

Faye hung from the high wall looking down at Pixie Boy. She didn't care if he lived or not. She held onto his wings and let them drop. His wings slowly dropped to his side on the ground as onlookers came to his side to assist. His legs and arms were twisted in weird positions and his breathing seemed shallow. It didn't matter to Faye. She took that opportunity and exited from the arena. She ran down the hall searching for where they could have taken Makala.

"Faye!" Sous called out to her but she wasn't interested in stopping. She managed to get outside and from a map was able to locate where the infirmary was.

Faye pushed opened the doors to the infirmary. It was large, fit for an university. It reminded her of those hospitals for humans, white walls and smells of sterile chemicals.

Her steps echoed down the hall and she was soon greeted by a witch who was behind a counter.

"Um, I'm here for a friend. I think she was rushed here from the arena. Makala, a vampire from Hacate school."

The witch nodded her head. "Awe yes, are you family or just a friend?"

Faye hesitated. She wanted to say family also but she decided to just tell the truth. Feeling defeated, she said, "I'm a friend."

"Go ahead and take a seat. I'll see if she can have vistors."

Sous entered into the infirmary and saw Faye sitting down in one of the waiting chairs. Sous walked up to her and sat down.

"Well, we won." Sous said.

"Yippee!" Faye responded back sarcastically.

Sous could see some of Pixie Boy's blood had gotten on Faye's face. She was going to say something but the doors to the infirmary opened once more, and Pixie Boy was being rushed inside on a stretcher. When they walked past Sous and Faye, one of the men said, "You're lucky he's not dead."

Sous and Faye watched them continue down the hall. The witch came up to Faye. "You can see her now," she said.

When Faye entered into the infirmary, Makala was completely wrapped in burned bandages. She ran to the bed side and looked at her. Sous saw Mara and Instructor Song over in the corner along with a couple of other professors. Song must have left Frederick in charge.

"Sous, Faye, what happened?" Instructor Song asked.

Sous looked at Faye but she was too busy coming to terms of Makala's situation. She shook her head and walked over to the instructors. "Pixie Boy-"

"Pixie Boy?" Mara pondered.

"Daniel, I mean, Daniel was getting jealous that Makala was spending more and more time with Faye. I saw him create a potion in the alchemy club and I knew it was a substance that affected UV lighting."

"Did you know he was going to throw it on Makala and attack her like that?" Song inquired.

"I was...I was suspicious but I didn't say anything. I guess I just didn't think he would do that." She admitted. Sous felt awful. "I should have said something, I know."

Mara placed her hand on Sous' shoulder. "Don't beat yourself up."

"She should beat herself up!" Yelled Faye. She pointed to her friend who laid lump on the bed, her body completely covered in severe burns from the attack. "Look at her! Look at what he did! If she had said something, this could have been prevented! She's burned to a crisp!"

Mara walked to Faye and stayed calm so as to try and make Faye understand the situation that although dire, was not all lost. "She needs time to heal, child. Once she heals, we can restore the burnt skin, and re apply the cloaking spell that was originally used on her."

"What about Daniel?" She asked.

"He could have killed her. He'll be suspended, not to step foot on campus again."

Instructor Song walked to them as well. "You could have killed him by tearing off his wings like that." He had heard about the situation from staff members when he and Mara had transported Makala to the infirmary.

Faye shrugged her shoulders and turned back to Makala. If she was suspended, it was worth it.

"You won't be suspended. After all, you were preventing him from escaping. However, we have to go back to campus."

"I can't stay here?" Song shook his head at Faye's question.

"Go ahead and say bye to her. Professor Gune will keep us updated." He said looking at Mara as she nodded her head in confirmation.

Faye sat on Sous' bed petting little baby basilisk. Sous placed away her clothes and plopped down beside Faye, making the bed jump a little.

"To keep your mind off things, do you want to go to Conaska with me and Tany? We're going by train. We'll be a bit late for classes come the start of the week but meh." Sous said shrugging her shoulders.

"I don't have money for a train ticket," Faye said, her voice soft and her eyes remaining on little baby basilisk.

Sous sat up and leaned against the wall with her legs in front of her. "I'll pay for it."
