Kara looked around her room. The majority of the items she was going to take with her were packed in bags and suitcases that her mother would transport to her later in the evening.
Abel poked his head in the door. He was taller, standing at five foot nine inches. His voice was deeper and his facial fur was coming in. He had turned sixteen at the early start of the year. Derrick was also no longer a boy but a teenager, fourteen years old. Since he was an Omega though, his height seemed to be stuck at five feet and five inches. A couple of Alphas had shown interest in Derrick but apparently he and Jacob were starting to date. Abel had all the Omegas chasing after him but there didn't seem to be anyone he fancied in particular.
"You all packed for your science school? What's it called? The humans call it?" Abel asked. He leaned against the wall and folded his arms, his eyebrows twisting as he thought of the word.
"STEM" Derrick said, stepping into the room behind Abel. He went to hug his younger sister. "Are you nervous?" Kara nodded her head to his question. "Wow, didn't know Faelock even had humans."
"Very small," Kara answered. "How are you and Jacob?" Jacob was now sixteen, the same age as Abel. He was going into his fifth year at Hacate and seemed to have taken a liking to herbology. Afterwards, Jacob had talked about wanting to go into medicine.
Derrick blushed. "He's so tall." His face gushed over thinking of his boyfriend. "He's like six something. Its crazy. Alphas get so big."
"We're big where it counts too." Abel interjected.
"ABEL!!" The Omegas screamed, their faces turning bright red. With Derrick shaking his head to not think of Jacob's Alpha's malehood while Kara shook her head not wanting to think of Sous' Alpha femalehood.
"Alright, alright!" The eldest son laughed, putting his hands up defensively.
"ABEL, YOU BETTER NOT BE CAUSING TROUBLE UP THERE!" Monica yelled from down stairs.
"I'M NOT, I'M NOT! I'M JUST JOKING! Sheesh!" He walked over to his sister, the youngest out of the family. He gave her a hug and a kiss on the forehead. "Do good out there, Kara. Get good grades. You worked hard waiting for this." He hugged her once more. As the boys headed to the door to leave, Abel turned to look back at Kara. "You're very pretty, Kara. Good thing there are no wolves at that Faelock school. Wouldn't want you getting pregnant."
"MOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!"
"ABEL, WHAT DID I SAY!?"
She wasn't even twelve yet, she thought to herself as she and Monica stood at the airport. And yet Abel was saying such innuendos. She shook her head, still blushing at the early conversation with her brother.
Doureena and the boys got out the car for one last family hug. Once done, Monica and Kara took their carryons and went to the restroom. Monica held up her wand and the two disappeared.
It was easier to just continue on with the ruse by going to the airport. They landed safely on the wooden deck of Faelock. Kara looked around and saw other students carrying their belongings inside and traveling from one tree house to the other by using the bridges or by taking flight. Both her and Monica stared at the sky to watch the fairies move their belongings as well. The wings expanding to their fullest width span. Little particles fell from the sky of all colors like the rainbow. Neither Monica or Kara saw so much particles from so many fairies.
"Come on," Monica nudged her daughter. "Let's go inside so we can get your room and tree number and schedule for the semester."
Plop!
She placed her suitcase on her bed. Wiping her hands on her jeans as she looked at Monica who was hanging Kara's uniform up in the closet. Unlike Hacate, Faelock had uniforms. Boys wore pants and shorts that were navy blue followed by a shirt or sweater that was yellow, the shirt or blouse needing to have a collar. The girls had the same color scheme but they were to wear skirts or pants, skirts must not be three inches above the knees and must not be three inches below the knees. Their shoes were to be black or white or navy blue.
"Alright sweetie, I'll teleport your other belongings later this evening now that I have the coordinates to your room." Monica looked over at Kara's new roommate. A twelve year old with black skin and blue eyes, her hair was a wavy and thick and her skin tone had a purple hue to it. Monica could tell her antennas were growing in and she'd hadn't her wings yet. She was mixed- that meant. Monica bowed her head to the girl and then gave Kara a hug once more. "Be sure to write or call which ever is easiest." Kara nodded her head. "Love you and be good."
"Love you too."
Monica waved by to her daughter and disappeared from the room. Kara sighed and looked at her roommate.
"OueakArey?" She asked.
"I- an- eak- um. I- m- earn." Kara responded, slow with her tongue acting as if it didn't know what to do with itself.
"I- can- speak- A-tin," the girl said, speaking in the same speed as Kara was when Kara attempted Arey. "I- am- kind- of- slow. I- a-pol-lo-gize."
"Its okay. I'mma do my best to learn Arey so we can speak comfortably with each other. What's your name?"
"Rhymes and- you- are?"
"Kara." Kara went and sat on the edge of her bed.
"Where- are- you- from?"
"Canas."
"Oh- two- count-ries- ov-er."
Kara nodded her head, taking a good look at Rhymes. She was very pretty, slim yet curvy. Her eyes stood out the most, such contrast from her overall look. "You don't have your wings? You're part elf?"
Rhymes smiled and nodded her head. "I- am- just- twelve-, the- wings- should- come- in- with- time."
As the days and weeks started, Kara began to get used to living at Faelock. She found herself making friends easily and conversations flowed with ease. This was mostly because she was the only wolf on campus although the children learned rather quickly that she was part witch. She absolutely didn't make a mistake choosing this school, although she didn't really like it when they had to go to the bottom ground where the snow was. Kara still wasn't used to snow although she'd gotten use to the cold temperatures up in the trees.
It was her twelfth birthday and she was in the common room with some of her friends opening gifts. When speaking with her friends, at first she spoke mostly Atin but as the weeks went on, she found herself being able to speak more and more of Arey. Her friends were also getting better at Atin. It was like a little language exchange they did, something the professors even recommended.
A couple of gifts appeared from above and plopped into Kara's lap.
"More gifts," said an elf boy by the name of Spanel. He was lanky in his movements but showed most of his strength by being on the archery team.
Kara looked at the boxes, one was from Sous and the other was from Zhiliary. Both Alphas must have given the gifts to Monica since it was Monica who was teleporting the gifts to her.
"Who are those from?" Rhymes asked. Her Atin had gotten better within the last month thanks to conversing with Kara.
"Uh, Alphas."
"Like...mates?"
Kara shook her head. She stared at the gifts, not wanting to open them in the common area. She told her friends she would open them later. They were okay with that. Kara never once told them about Sous. She was so caught up in her new life that Sous being spoken about here didn't seem relevant.
That night while Rhymes was asleep, Kara sat with her legs crossed on her bed. She opened the first package slowly to not disturb her roommate. This one was from Zhiliary. Inside was a necklace, a silver necklace with a rock, a rose quartz or maybe sapphire. Kara didn't know much about rocks but this one was pink. That was it. There was no letter, no note, just the necklace.
She sat those items aside and opened Sous' package. Kara instantly smiled when she saw what was inside. First, she pulled out the image of her and Sous. It was taken on their tour of the Faelock campus. Sous had her arm around Kara. Kara was so short next to Sous now. "Alphas really do get big," Kara said under her breath.
Kara placed the picture aside and took out a white blouse with a collar. An uniform shirt that Sous knew Kara would have to wear often. She smiled and placed the shirt to her nose, smelling Sous' scent. She placed the shirt aside and found there was a letter in the package.
Kara,
I miss you so much. I don't know why but I'm starting to think of you much more now. Like when I wake up and when I go to sleep. Its weird. I hope things are going good in school and I can't wait to see you come next school break. I'll be fourteen then and going to my third year.
Sous had wrote something had scratched it out. Kara wasn't able to make out what it said. She continues to read on though.
Do you know what teams you're going to join, have you made friends? Hope to hear from you soon.
Love,
Sous
The next morning when Rhymes woke up, she saw Kara was still sleeping. She kept quiet and got her clothes out for what she was going to wear that day. When she looked to Kara's side of the room, she did a double take. Looking closer, she saw a picture on the wall that showed Kara and some girl with wild blonde hair.
