Chapter 139: Reactions
The deepest part of Totto Land, Whole Cake Island.
Katakuri and Perospero, leading several of their younger siblings, disembarked from their pirate ship amidst the welcome of a group of Homie soldiers.
"You all go back to your own places first. Perospero and I will go and report to Mama in detail," Katakuri said, turning to his younger siblings. Although Katakuri had already reported everything about this incident to Mama via Den Den Mushi, he knew that he had to report to her in person one more time.
With that, Katakuri and Perospero strode away, disappearing from the sight of the younger ones. After they left, the group of youths exchanged glances and then dispersed.
Charlotte Leggero, with short pink hair, wearing a red short skirt and a purple cape, walked along the wide road. Hearing the faint conversations of the surrounding residents, a strange expression appeared on her beautiful face.
"In such a short time, has the news already spread to Whole Cake Island? However—" Leggero recalled the battle scene she had witnessed not long ago. She slowly took out a crumpled bounty poster from her clothes and smoothed it out again. Looking at the figure with wings spread high and golden hair flying, a strange light appeared in Leggero's eyes.
Similar scenes were happening to the several other young women who had also accompanied them to that battlefield.
In the core area of the Whole Cake Chateau.
The Soul Queen lowered her head, a look of extreme greed on her face, her eyes glowing with a strange golden light. In a tone that was chilling to the bone, she confirmed again with her eldest and second sons.
"Katakuri, Perospero! Was it really a Lunarian?!"
To this, beads of cold sweat appeared on Perospero's forehead. He quickly waved his hands, trying to calm Mama down. "Yes, that's right— but, Mama! That old guy can even fight fiercely with Kaido himself. And that Archangel Louis, he's strong enough to be on par with you, Kaido, and Whitebeard."
As he spoke, the tongue hanging in front of Perospero trembled violently, afraid that Mama would get a rash idea and do something irrational.
"Hm?"
To this, Charlotte Linlin glanced at Perospero, her expression becoming ferocious, a hint of displeasure in her eyes. "What are you afraid of, Perospero?! That's a Lunarian! Not to mention, he has giants under his command!"
Hearing this, Perospero became even more flustered, so scared that his words became incoherent.
Just then, Katakuri slowly stepped forward and said in a deep voice, "Mama, this matter indeed needs to be considered carefully, and our goal cannot be achieved through force. They may seem to have a weak force, but behind them are the Giant race, other possible members of the Lunarian race, and—"
"Kaido of the Beasts!" A strange light appeared in Katakuri's eyes, his tone peculiar.
Charlotte Linlin's face darkened, a shadow of gloom flashing in her eyes. "That Nation-Destroyer—is she really that brat Kaido's child?"
Katakuri nodded. "From the conversation between Kaido and that person, that should be correct. Moreover, that person's strength is probably only slightly weaker than mine. In the future, she will inevitably become a monster who can also ascend to the top."
Katakuri and Perospero had not interfered in that incident. At the time, Mama's order was to check their quality, and if they were truly outstanding, to lend them a hand. But in the end, the quality they had displayed could no longer be described as merely outstanding; it had reached a terrifying level. They didn't need their help at all. But before leaving, Katakuri had watched the battle between Kaido's child and the two young Vice Admirals. In the end, that person's performance had shocked him.
At these words, the strange light in Charlotte Linlin's eyes grew even stronger. "Kaido's—child—"
"Tch. That brat Kaido, is it actually easier for him to win them over than me?"
Charlotte Linlin's expression was uncertain. Finally, under the gazes of her two sons, it became firm.
"No matter what, the Lunarians and the Giants must be mine!" As she spoke, Charlotte Linlin's fingers dug deep into the armrests of her throne. "Hold a Tea Party! Invite them over! No matter what means I have to use, the Lunarians and the Giants must be mine!!"
The demon-like whispers echoed in the empty space, making the Homies created by Charlotte Linlin tremble in fear.
"Yes, Mama," Katakuri replied, his face as calm as ever.
Marine Headquarters, in the high-level conference room.
"What?"
"How is that possible!"
"How could something like this happen!"
At this moment, the originally solemn conference room was filled with a clamor of noise. Every sentence was filled with doubt and disbelief.
Fleet Admiral Sengoku's words had shaken all the flag officers stationed at Marine Headquarters. Even the most serious people had lost their composure at this moment.
In the crowd, the former Marine Admiral Zephyr looked at the report in his hands, a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"Gion—"
"Tokikake."
"Kuzan..."
"Borsalino—"
The four of them were all among the Marines that Zephyr had poured countless efforts and emotions into training. But now, he had received their reports of death and disability on the same day, from the same place. This made the already dispirited Zephyr look even older, and his whole body seemed to stoop.
Just then, a withered, age-spotted hand rested on Zephyr's shoulder. Zephyr's body trembled, and he subconsciously turned to look.
"Little Tsuru?"
The slender Tsuru was sitting beside him, quietly watching him. "Let it go, Zephyr. Everyone has to face death eventually. At least they fought until the very last moment."
Zephyr looked at Tsuru, who also had a sad aura about her, and for a moment, the emotions in his heart became indescribable. He knew that Gion was also a special existence to Tsuru.
"Archangel-Louis." In the high-level conference room, Sengoku's extremely serious voice sounded, attracting everyone's attention.
Zephyr looked away and turned to Sengoku, who was addressing the Vice Admirals.
"Origin unknown, age 15-19."
"Race suspected to be Lunarian!"
"Not long ago, he defeated the ambush fleet led by Marine HQ Admirals Kizaru and Aokiji at the entrance to the New World."
"Both Admirals suffered considerable injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the G-1 branch—"
"Several flag officers went missing, among them Vice Admiral Momousagi and Vice Admiral Chaton, who have been confirmed dead via their Vivre Cards."
"After the battle, Admiral Kizaru reported that a Lunarian appeared on the battlefield, with extremely powerful strength, almost comparable to a top-tier monster."
"Kizaru thus speculates that Archangel Louis is very likely also a member of the Lunarian race!"
As Sengoku's words fell, everyone suppressed their anger and grief and fell into thought.
Vice Admiral Tsuru heard this, and what Garp had once mentioned—that the opponent had an extreme malice towards the Marines—flashed in her mind. "I see. So this is the reason why this person is friendly to ordinary citizens, but holds such extreme malice towards the Marines—"
Just then, a Vice Admiral frowned and asked, "Since the battlefield was at the entrance to the New World, why didn't Mary Geoise dispatch personnel to provide support? Do the Five Elders and Commander-in-Chief Kong not care about the life and death of the Marines?"
To this, a shadow of gloom flashed in Sengoku's eyes. He explained in a deep voice, "Because they, including myself, never thought that Kizaru and Aokiji would lose—"
"..."
The Marine HQ Admirals are the highest combat power of the World Government. Each one is incomparably powerful, and all are users of extremely rare Logia-type Devil Fruits. Borsalino, Kuzan, Sakazuki—the three of them, even among all the generations of Marine Admirals over the past eight hundred years, are a considerably powerful group. They are the ultimate military representatives of the Marines in suppressing the seas, and each possesses the power of a natural disaster.
No one had ever imagined that the two of them, fighting at the same time, would encounter a monster with an incomprehensible defense, world-class speed, top-tier Observation Haki, and an extremely formidable physique. And on top of that, he even possessed a healing ability.
According to Borsalino's report, Archangel Louis's conventional attacks did not feel stronger than Kaido's or Whitebeard's. Although powerful, they were not impossible to deal with. However, Kizaru and Aokiji were, in the end, mortals. Every attack required the consumption of Haki and stamina. Over a long period, the opponent had not a single wound, but their own Haki and stamina were continuously declining. There would eventually come a time when they could no longer withstand the opponent's attacks.
