"Well, that was anticlimactic," the fallen angel said, stretching his magnificent black wings that had been confined for centuries.
The vampire beside him chuckled softly, her crimson eyes gleaming as she turned to Kaito. "Well done, boy. I must admit, I expected to wait at least a few more centuries before my seal weakened from sheer neglect. But here we are."
She stepped forward, her fangs just barely visible behind a playful smile. "How about it? Do you want to become my servant? I'm not sure how many of my kindred are left out there, but you'd make an excellent… restart."
Tamamo immediately stepped between them, her expression sharp. "That human's my servant. Hands off, leech."
The vampire blinked, then bent down and ruffled Tamamo's head as if she were a child. "Aww, what a cute little kitsune."
Tamamo, thoroughly irritated, slapped her hand away with a sharp glare.
"Feisty, too." The vampire laughed. "It seems you've already been claimed. Still, my offer stands. Should you change your mind, come find me in Europe. There, I'll give you a proper introduction into the night. I wonder how much the world has changed in my absence..."
With a swirl of fog, she vanished.
The fallen angel rolled his shoulders, stretching his wings with a creak. "I should head back as well. Hopefully, my territory's still there and hasn't been seized by the Hell Internal Revenue Service." He snorted. "If I'm not homeless, you'll find me in my domain. If I am homeless, I'll be drinking on the streets of Goetia in the Central Hell Realm. First round's on me."
With a flick of his finger, a dark portal shimmered open, and he stepped through it with a casual wave.
Next, the bearded man stepped forward, hands behind his back, his voice calm but firm. "Junior. If you truly seek to master your gift, then come to Mt. Tai and become my disciple. Many gaze upon the sacred peak and see nothing. But you..." He paused, locking eyes with Kaito. "You possess the eyes to see beyond it."
And with that, he vanished into the shadows.
The silver dragon blinked and looked around awkwardly. "Huh, am I supposed to say something too before I go?"
Just then, a loud, desperate voice called out from behind them. "Tamamo no Mae! Help me escape too!"
The dragon tilted his head and glanced toward the source of the voice. "A friend of yours?"
"No!" Tamamo snapped instantly.
"I'm her friend!" Moque insisted. "She's just being shy! Please free me!"
The dragon shrugged, lifted his massive tail, and smashed it against the glowing bars of the nearby cell. The seal shattered.
"Thank you, noble dragon!" Moque said, stepping out with ripple of black flames.
"It's only natural to help those who once helped me," the dragon replied. "I should head home, too. Hopefully, all my treasure isn't stolen. If you ever find yourself on the Bright Side of the World, come find me at the tallest mountain. Whatever I have left, or manage to hunt down, I shall reward you a piece of it."
With a majestic flap of his wings, a silver portal opened. It soared into it and disappeared.
The Knight of Pitch-Black Soul stood before them, crossing his arms. "You've unleashed a terrible calamity upon this world. It's not just the No Life King, those guys were sealed here for a reason." His voice echoed. "Normally, I'd leap at the chance to join the fight again. But I'm long retired. The mantle of hero is no longer mine to bear."
He turned and began walking away. "Still, should you ever find yourself in Wonderland, that twisted realm of dreams and madness, come and say hello. I'll give you a tour."
He opened a portal with a swing of his arm. "Here, I'll leave a path for you to return to the Dark Side of the World. Goodbye." He stepped through as his respective portal began to close.
Moque, now free, fluttered excitedly towards Tamamo. "Tamamo no Mae, why did you ignore me like that? What happened to you? Why are you so small now?"
"It's none of your business, bird brain," Tamamo retorted.
"Still rude, I see," Moque sighed. "But at least you're still you."
Black flames curled around her form. In moments, the ragged shape of a dark phoenix was replaced by a striking woman — long crimson and black hair flowing behind her, clad in a white cheongsam with dramatic slits and gaps that highlighted her generous bust and thights. She approached Tamamo for a hug, but she could reach her, several talismans flew through the air and smacked onto her face in rapid succession, freezing her mid-step.
"Why are you so mean…" Moque whined muffledly, her voice muffled by the talismans.
Tamamo ignored her, grabbing both Kaito and Eleanor. "Let's go, human." She pulled them through the still-open portal.
"Hey, wait up!" Moque cried, tugging talismans off her face and chasing after them.
With a final flicker, the portal faded from view. The remnants of the prison stirred only briefly as some inmates casted a glance before slipping back into their long, dreamless slumber.
