Clint shut the door with a loud thud, his annoyance echoing through the hall. The maids passing by stopped in their tracks and flinched, eyes widening at the sound. Clint turned toward them, raising his eyebrow sharply.
"What?" he asked flatly.
The maids blinked, then suddenly giggled, their hands covering their mouths."You learned that eyebrow-raising from Maiven, didn't you? It suits you," one teased, and the others giggled even harder.
Clint clicked his tongue and looked away, but he still ended up walking alongside them. He reached out and grabbed the basket of clothes from one maid with ease.
"How's the Duke, Clint?" one of them asked curiously.
"He's awake," Clint muttered with clear irritation.
The maids gasped in unison.
"The Duke woke up early? That's unusual," another whispered.
"When that happens, the Duke usually wakes after two weeks," one added, and they all nodded knowingly.
