Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

"Panel!"

As soon as he got home, Haruki immediately opened his system panel.

The familiar pale blue screen appeared:

[Name: Uchiha HarukiAge: 10Constitution: 5Mentality: 7Chakra: 21 (159→189)Bloodline: Sharingan · Unawakened (51/100)Skills: Chakra Refinement Technique: lv0 (53/100) → lv0 (98/100)Clone Technique: lv1 (2/200) → lv1 (20/200)Transformation Technique: lv0 (77/100) → lv1 (19/200)Substitution Technique: lv0 (71/100) → lv1 (18/200)Basic Taijutsu: lv1 (16/200) → lv1 (65/200)Ninja Tool Throwing: lv2 (10/500) → lv2 (42/500)]

In just five days, his strength had made another leap.

His chakra limit had increased by 30 points, reaching 189.

This amount of chakra might seem insignificant compared to geniuses, but among peers his age, it was already above average.

After all, he was only ten years old.

For a ninja, the golden growth period was between twelve and sixteen.

Before that, except for some geniuses, differences weren't too big.

But Haruki was already pulling ahead of his peers — that made him a bit of a prodigy.

Of course, just looking at chakra alone didn't tell the whole story.

But considering his lv1 Clone, Transformation, and Substitution Techniques, plus his Basic Taijutsu and lv2 Ninja Tool Throwing, he truly lived up to that reputation.

Right now, even compared to graduates of the six-year program, he ranked in the upper middle tier.

And with half a month until the graduation exam, he had enough time to improve even more.

By then, even if sent to the battlefield—

"Uh, maybe that's still a little risky!"

Haruki's eyes scanned the panel and suddenly he realized he was missing a trump card.

Luckily, his Chakra Refinement Technique's proficiency was at lv0 (98/100), nearly ready to level up.

Once he leveled up, the effect of chakra restoration would improve.

That would leave him enough energy to learn a higher-level ninjutsu.

Where would the ninjutsu come from?

No worries—his previous self's parents had left several scrolls in their study.

Once he reached lv1 in Chakra Refinement, he could pick one to learn.

With the proficiency panel, he didn't fear failing to master it.

As long as the technique didn't conflict with his chakra nature, he could grind it to lv1 or even higher.

Thinking that, Haruki closed the panel, took a ration pill from the back room, swallowed it, and began running Chakra Refinement.

One minute. Two minutes. Five minutes. Ten minutes.

Before he knew it, two hours had passed.

Suddenly, Haruki opened his eyes.

A flash of insight passed through his gaze, and many realizations surfaced in his mind.

At this moment, Haruki gained a brand-new understanding of Chakra Refinement.

If lv0 Chakra Refinement's efficiency in unlocking body potential was 1, then lv1 was 2.

In other words, he could extract twice as much chakra in the same amount of time.

This affected not only his chakra recovery speed but also his maximum chakra capacity.

With this thought, Haruki closed his eyes again and began refining chakra with this new understanding.

About half an hour later, Haruki opened his eyes.

"Panel!"

With a thought, he summoned the proficiency panel.

[Name: Uchiha HarukiAge: 10Constitution: 5Mentality: 7Chakra: 171 (189→192)Bloodline: Sharingan · Unawakened (51/100)Skills: Chakra Refinement Technique: lv1 (1/200)Clone Technique: lv1 (20/200)Transformation Technique: lv1 (19/200)Substitution Technique: lv1 (18/200)Basic Taijutsu: lv1 (65/200)Ninja Tool Throwing: lv2 (42/500)]

Just as he expected, after only half an hour, lv1 Chakra Refinement had an effect equal to an hour of lv0 Chakra Refinement.

That is, it restored 50 chakra and raised his maximum chakra by one point.

The only downside was that lv1 Chakra Refinement still required an hour to gain one proficiency point.

This time, no extra proficiency was gained.

After all, the previous owner's Chakra Refinement was still lv0; otherwise, those extra proficiency points wouldn't have been so few.

Still, Haruki was content.

At least now, from today onward, he could use twice the chakra he had before.

Of course, this energy wasn't coming from nowhere.

Soon, he would have to increase his ration pill intake.

But that was a small problem.

He had stocked up on many ration pills before.

To survive future battles, he'd just have to endure some stomach discomfort for now.

Shaking off his thoughts, Haruki got up and left his room, heading straight to his previous parents' study.

Lately, he'd either been at school or training at home, leaving no extra time to organize his predecessor's parents' belongings.

He had only glanced at the study, knowing a few ninjutsu scrolls were there but not looking closely.

Today was his first serious reading of the scrolls.

"Let me see what's here."

Muttering softly, Haruki opened the first scroll.

It was the Uchiha clan's signature ninjutsu—the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

Specifically, it involved spitting a ball of fire, combining intense heat and explosive power, with strength depending on the amount of chakra infused.

It was a very practical ninjutsu.

The learning difficulty was C rank, enough to be a trump card for a genin.

However, Haruki didn't rush his decision and opened several other scrolls.

Two others also contained ninjutsu: Fire Release: Phoenix Flower Fire Technique and Fire Release: Dragon Flame Technique.

Though they were also ranked C, their learning difficulty was higher than the Great Fireball Technique.

Especially the Phoenix Flower Fire Technique, which required a solid foundation in the Great Fireball Technique to learn properly.

Additionally, there were two scrolls recording genjutsu.

One was called Illusion: Iron Maiden Technique, requiring the Sharingan to activate.

It created a mental world where iron spikes pierced the opponent's body, causing pain and immobilization.

Haruki's predecessor's parents hadn't awakened the Sharingan, so leaving this scroll showed they had high hopes for him.

Unfortunately, he hadn't awakened the Sharingan either.

As for the second genjutsu scroll—

Its contents were quite strange.

Haruki had at least heard of Illusion: Iron Maiden, but the other was completely unfamiliar.

That was Reflection Technique.

Indeed, the second scroll described a genjutsu called Reflection Technique.

Haruki carefully unrolled the scroll and read its contents.

As he read deeper, his expression changed repeatedly.

From initial indifference to growing suspicion, then to urgency and expectation.

By the time he finished, relief filled his face.

Now—

Of course, he was beaming with joy.

No surprise—this Reflection Technique very likely held the key to solving the stagnation in his Sharingan awakening progress.
