Chapter 176 - Chapter 176: Charizard Takes the Stage! The Flame That Shakes the Arena!

"Pikachu, that's enough! Come back and rest — you've done great," Ash called out, pulling a Poké Ball from his belt.

"Pika!" Pikachu nodded proudly before dashing back to Ash's shoulder, tail flicking with satisfaction.

Narrator: "Trainer Ash withdraws Pikachu! After two intense battles, even Pikachu's stamina must be running low. What Pokémon will he send out next?"

Ash smiled faintly, tossing another Poké Ball onto the field. "Your turn — Charizard!"

A burst of light filled the arena as the mighty Charizard emerged, flames roaring from its tail.

Narrator: "And it's Charizard! One of Ash's most iconic Pokémon and one of the original three starters of Kanto's first generation — the Flame Pokémon has entered the battle!"

The crowd erupted into cheers the moment Charizard appeared, its massive wings flaring and eyes gleaming with confidence.

"Wow, so cool!"

"Yeah! Master Ash's Charizard looks incredible!"

"When this tournament ends, I'm going to catch and train my own Charmander!"

Charizard roared mightily — "ROOOAR!" — sending a wave of heat and power across the stadium. The sheer pressure made the audience feel its strength firsthand.

Narrator: "What overwhelming presence! The moment Charizard entered, the entire arena felt its fiery might!"

In the VIP viewing room, Kazuya Verenza leaned forward, astonished. "So that's Ash's Charizard… it's even stronger than I expected."

As a member of a family known for training Fire-type Pokémon, Kazuya could tell immediately — Charizard's control over fire was exceptional.

"Indeed," said Elder Sada Verenza, arms folded.

"Its mastery of Fire-type techniques is remarkable. It's not just raw power — that's a Pokémon trained for elite-level combat."

Beside them, Skye Draconis smirked.

"I've seen footage of that Charizard before — it even battled my uncle's Dragonite once. I collected full data on its abilities."

Nathan Redwood, however, looked calm despite the murmurs.

"No problem. With Cloyster's defensive armor and type advantage, we can cut Charizard's strength in half."

He'd studied Ash's battles carefully — including Charizard's fiery clash against Blaine's Magmar. Confident in his strategy, Nathan issued his first command.

"Cloyster — use Water Gun!"

"Cloy!" Cloyster's shell opened wide, firing a thick jet of water straight toward Charizard.

"Charizard — counter with Flamethrower!" Ash shouted.

Charizard inhaled deeply and unleashed a blazing torrent of fire. The two attacks collided midair — but shockingly, Charizard's flames pushed the Water Gun back inch by inch!

"What—?! The temperature of its fire is that high? Cloyster, retract into your shell!" Nathan called, realizing his mistake too late.

Cloyster's Water Gun was completely overpowered. The flames engulfed its position, slamming against its armored shell. Though Water-types resisted Fire, the sheer heat left visible scorch marks.

"Unbelievable…" Nathan muttered under his breath.

"Even with all the data I collected, it wasn't enough… My sister was right. Ash's Charizard is on another level."

Ash's expression hardened. "Charizard — Iron Tail!"

Charizard's tail gleamed silver, charged with steel energy. In an instant, the Fire Pokémon kicked off the ground, vanishing with blinding speed.

"Cloyster, dodge it!" Nathan shouted, but the command came too late.

Charizard reappeared right in front of Cloyster and swung its metallic tail in a brutal arc —

"CRAAASH!"

The impact sent Cloyster flying backward, crashing into the icy floor. When the smoke cleared, its shell was cracked like a spiderweb. The shell creaked open slightly, eyes spinning in defeat.

Referee: "Cloyster is unable to battle! Charizard wins! Nathan, please send out your next Pokémon!"

Narrator: "An incredible display! In just two decisive moves, Charizard has completely overwhelmed Nathan's Cloyster! Truly, Charizard is the pride of Kanto's Flame Starters!"

"Charizard! Charizard! Charizard!"

The crowd's chants thundered through the arena as Charizard spread its wings and roared triumphantly.

Narrator: "Once again, Kanto's fiery spirit burns bright! Even among the many powerful regions, Charizard stands tall as a symbol of strength and determination!"

In a quiet hotel room, Lorelei sat elegantly on the sofa, dressed in her usual office-style attire.

Her long legs, wrapped in sheer black stockings, were crossed gracefully as she swirled a glass of red wine in her hand. Her eyes stayed fixed on the live broadcast flickering on the screen before her, brows furrowed in thought.

"I don't know what to think about Nathan Glacienne," she murmured softly, her voice carrying a trace of exasperation.

"That man… I just can't tell whether I misjudged him."

She took a slow sip of wine, watching as the camera focused on the young strategist.

"Was I really wrong? Is it truly pointless to fight someone whose data surpasses your own — to battle an opponent who understands the numbers better than you ever could?"

Meanwhile, Nathan Glacienne walked alone along the dimly lit path outside the stadium, his thoughts heavy. After recalling his Forretress — the "Iron Armor Pokémon" — he carried the Poké Ball tightly in his hand, feeling the chill of the night air against his skin.

He had climbed every step of the competitive ladder while enduring his father's disapproval and society's skepticism toward "data-style" trainers.

For years, he was ridiculed for relying too much on analysis and probability. But through persistence, logic, and grit, Nathan had reached the rank of Elite — a true Pokémon King in his own right.

And yet, standing across from Ash Ketchum today, that lifelong sense of achievement suddenly felt… hollow.
