Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Little M Sabrina?

On the battlefield...

"Miss Sabrina, someone has come to challenge the Gym. Should we allow it? From what we've observed, the challenger doesn't possess any psychic abilities," the masked attendant said, kneeling on one knee in front of the throne-like seat across the field.

But before he could finish—

"AHHH!!!"

The masked man let out a piercing scream as his body was suddenly engulfed in a shimmering blue aura. He convulsed slightly, gasping for breath as if his lungs were being squeezed shut.

"Miss Sabrina, forgive me! I spoke out of turn! Please—!" he pleaded hoarsely, his face turning a deep shade of purple under the pressure of the psychic force.

"Let him go!" Ash frowned as he stepped forward. He'd always guessed Sabrina's heart might be a bit… extreme, but this was still beyond what he expected.

A passerby like that masked man—if Sabrina had really killed him—the League likely wouldn't have pursued it. After all, the Mugino family was one of Kanto's top-ranking clans, and Sabrina's lineage was steeped in psychic power. Their influence, especially in the Psychic Division, was not something to underestimate.

"You show mercy now? Where was this kindness when you stood before me?"

A chilling voice echoed from above. The throne turned slowly to face them, revealing the one seated there.

Long, violet hair flowed past her shoulders, framing a striking face with crimson-red eyes. She wore a red and black dress, elegant but narrow, revealing smooth, slender legs covered in black-purple stockings. It gave off a cold, intoxicating aura—elegant and lethal, just like Cynthia.

"It's you… Sabrina!!"

Ash's pupils constricted sharply—not because of her beauty, but because the name triggered an old memory. This was the same girl he met years ago… the girl with psychic powers who once came to Pallet Town.

"You know her?" Cynthia asked, catching the change in Ash's expression.

She wasn't against Ash taking another partner—this world wasn't bound by monogamy—but even so, something about Sabrina made her uneasy.

"...Kind of," Ash replied. "When she was around eight or nine, her father brought her to my grandfather—Professor Oak. They were hoping he could help suppress her psychic powers. Back then, she was just a quiet kid. I didn't even catch her name. I never imagined she'd turn out like this."

Cynthia raised an eyebrow. "You two met in Pallet Town?"

Ash nodded. "Yeah. Back then, Sabrina hadn't changed yet. She was still cheerful in her own way—just… reserved. But her powers were unstable. Sometimes she'd lose control."

He paused, his voice quiet. "...One day, she lost control inside Professor Oak's lab. Things got messy. Professor Oak was injured. When I found out, I completely lost it and… I slapped her hard."

"...You slapped a psychic girl?" Cynthia asked, stunned.

"Yeah. But after that, she apologized to my mom—Delia—and Delia forgave her. She even told me not to be angry. But… my mom means everything to me. No one hurts her and walks away."

After that incident, Sabrina left Pallet Town. Ash hadn't seen her since… until now.

"And now you don't want your girlfriend to know the whole truth?" Sabrina's voice was icy. Her elegant face, once doll-like, was now cold and distant.

"That was in the past. And I'd do it again if it meant protecting the most important person in my life."

As he spoke, Ash's eyes shifted—the Mangekyō Sharingan activating in a swirl of energy. A spiritual pressure burst outward as a psychic duel began between the two.

The masked man had long since escaped. Between Ash and Sabrina, the air seemed to shimmer. Invisible forces collided, and the stone tiles around them trembled, some even floating off the ground.

Sabrina flinched—just slightly—as she sensed Ash's aura. She had known he awakened psychic powers too, but this... this wasn't something she expected. It was overwhelming.

What Ash didn't know was that, back when they were kids, Sabrina had held a strange affection for him.

Not just for one reason:

Ash had been handsome, even as a kid.

He was an incredible Trainer even at a young age.

He was the first person to discover her secret—and hit her.

His devotion to Delia moved her deeply.

That slap… awakened something in her. Something strange. Something thrilling.

Now, facing him again, that feeling returned. On the surface, Sabrina looked calm, proud—dominant even. But her body trembled just slightly...

...As if it remembered something it wasn't supposed to like.

BOOM!

An invisible shockwave burst between them. Sabrina's chair cracked. The battlefield itself shook. Ash reacted instantly—activating Suzano, the energy-form guardian, shielding both Brock and Cynthia behind him.

The battle had begun. And it was no ordinary Pokémon match. This was psychic warfare—pure and raw.

With the protection of Suzano, Ash, Cynthia, and Brock remained untouched by the violent burst of psychic energy—but Sabrina wasn't so lucky.

The backlash struck her directly. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, and her face turned pale. Still, she stood firm.

"I didn't expect your psychic power to be this strong... It seems the rumors were true. You're definitely not just some ordinary man."

Sabrina's voice was calm, almost expressionless, as if the blood on her lips wasn't even her concern.

But deep inside, she was ecstatic.

She liked Ash's dominance—his overwhelming aura.

She wanted him to crush her resistance, to seize her without hesitation. Ever since her parents sent her to Golden City, Sabrina had sealed away her emotions... and now, for the first time in years, she felt something again.

"Ash, your eyes..."

Unlike Sabrina, Cynthia was deeply concerned. Standing just behind him, she couldn't hide the worry in her voice. She stared at the whirling pattern in Ash's Mangekyō Sharingan—unnatural, intense, and definitely dangerous.

The side effects of using those eyes were no joke.

Ash had reassured her before, said he'd find a solution. But now, seeing him like this, Cynthia couldn't help but fear for him.

Even if he pretended everything was fine, she knew better.
