Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Chain tasks!

The price of a Legendary Pokémon was something Ash didn't even bother to look at—there was no way he could afford it. The required attribute points were in the hundreds of millions!

A pseudo-Elite level Pokémon required 10,000 points, and even the Eggs cost 1,000!

Elite-level Pokémon demanded 15,000 points, and their Eggs were 3,000.

A pseudo-Champion class Pokémon cost 25,000 points, while the Egg version would still run you 5,000!

As for Champion-tier Pokémon—those were a staggering 40,000 points, and even their Eggs came in at 10,000!

Once purchased, the Pokémon would only reach the strength allowed by the system—excluding Champion-tier. Any Pokémon below Champion rank, especially if it's just an Egg, might have the potential to grow into a pseudo-Champion. But if you don't raise it properly, it's just a waste. Even if you try later, it might already be too late. That's not a flaw in the system—it just means your training wasn't good enough.

Champion-level Pokémon were a different matter. They had the potential to comprehend laws of power, so the system didn't place restrictions on them. That was what made them truly game-changing.

Ash took another look at the system's previous features. The lottery system was still active and usable. Now he found himself torn: should he directly buy a Champion-level Lucario, or go for a Riolu Egg instead?

It would take roughly a year and a half to train a Champion-tier Lucario. But Ash still had two uses of the Cooldown Skip function left in the system.

With that, he could raise Riolu to Elite level in just about a month, then use an A-rank custom skill to push Lucario up to the Elite Four tier. Finally, he could use the S-rank and SS-rank Skill Discs to help Riolu evolve into Lucario and reach Champion-level directly!

Each Pokémon tier was judged by raw strength, aura presence, and skill power. Although using Skill Discs would massively boost Lucario's power, there would still be one glaring weakness—lack of real combat experience.

But that didn't bother Ash. He had plenty of other experienced Pokémon. With daily battle routines, Lucario would quickly build up enough experience to compensate.

"Forget it, no point overthinking this now," Ash muttered. "I've only got five attribute points. Can't buy anything yet, anyway."

Suddenly—

Ding~!

[Congratulations, Host! System has reached Level 2. You've received the Level 1 and Level 2 system gift packs. Would you like to claim them now?]

Ash twitched. "Seriously?! You tell me now? This is important news! Why is your timing always off?!"

His brow furrowed as the message sank in. He looked like he'd been struck by lightning.

"Whatever… arguing with you is pointless. You're just a program. Accept the gift packs."

If it were a smart AI, maybe he could get some satisfaction out of arguing. But this was a cold, automated system—no emotions, no reactions.

Ding~!

[Congratulations! You've received the Level 1 gift pack: 500 attribute points and 3 Mainstream Lottery draws!]

[Congratulations! You've received the Level 2 gift pack: 30,000 attribute points and 5 Mainstream Lottery draws!]

"I'm rich!" was the only thought echoing in Ash's head. That gift pack was a jackpot.

Adding his original 5 points, his total attribute points now stood at 30,505—a huge sum. Of course, the reward made sense. Reaching System Level 2 required achieving pseudo-Champion status in his current world. Without his Kaleidoscope Sharingan, Ash estimated it would've taken him a year or two to get there on his own.

His first instinct, seeing all those points, was to spend 500 on lottery draws. After all, each draw only cost 1 attribute point.

But then came the cold shower from the system—

After the upgrade, while the lottery feature still existed, Ash could now only draw five times per week, and unused draws wouldn't stack!

"What the hell?! Then what am I supposed to do with all these points? What even is a Mainstream Lottery?" Ash asked in frustration.

Ding~!

[Mainstream Lottery allows the host to randomly obtain items relevant to the current world's mainstream. The item's type and rarity are randomized.]

Hearing this, Ash perked up a bit. He was currently in the Pokémon world—so naturally, the mainstream draw would focus on Pokémon-related items.

That meant the eight draws he now had could potentially give him high-level Pokémon or rare gear!

"Don't use the lottery yet—save it for later, around the time of the Indigo League Conference. I'll have enough time then to train and prepare properly."

Ash exited the system space, deciding not to rush into the lottery feature. After all, the Indigo League hadn't started yet, and even if he did get something valuable, he wouldn't have the time to train it right now.

Before he realized it, over an hour had passed. By then, Brock was already up and cooking breakfast. As for Cynthia, well… girls took longer in the mornings. That wasn't news.

Ash stepped out of the tent, stretching. The sunlight had already climbed high into the sky, and the morning heat was sweltering, making him break out in a light sweat almost instantly.

"Feels like summer's really here," he muttered, wiping his forehead.

"Yeah, good thing the Indigo League is held in the fall," Brock replied while stirring a pot. "If it were during this weather, half the competitors would probably pass out before the semifinals."

"Morning, Ash!" Cynthia called out cheerfully as she walked over, freshly washed and radiant. Today, she wore a simple white short-sleeved top and a long, flowing skirt that reached down to her ankles. Paired with clean white sneakers, she looked effortlessly elegant.

In truth, Cynthia had wanted to wear something lighter—maybe even a short skirt—but she didn't pack much for this trip. She'd have to wait until they reached the next town to shop for more clothes.

Just then—

Ding~!

[Congratulations! Chain mission triggered.]

Mission 1: Receive Cynthia's first kiss.

Reward: 1,000 attribute points.

Mission 2: Be Cynthia's first.

Reward: 50,000 attribute points.

Mission 3: Win Cynthia's heart completely.

Reward: 100,000 attribute points.

Ash froze, swallowing hard as he stared at the system panel. The rewards were significant—but more than that, the missions themselves stirred something inside him.

Thankfully, none of the tasks had a time limit, nor were there any penalties for failure. If there were, the pressure alone would've crushed him.

"…System," Ash muttered to himself, "you may just be a soulless program with no emotions… but I've got to hand it to you. You're evil. And I kinda like it."

His mood had shifted to something unusually light. He was no longer burdened by the guilt and hesitation of his past life. He was a man, and there was nothing wrong with wanting something—or someone.

With the system now upgraded, and two lavish gift packs already in hand, Ash couldn't help but feel like a reborn tycoon in the world of Pokémon.

He wasn't just rich—he was absurdly rich, and ready to take on whatever came next.
