The flash of the long-range teleporter tore through the sky above the border fortress, leaving an electromagnetic shockwave in its wake. From the light emerged Marlon landing onto the main command platform.
Upon seeing him appear, the soldiers and guards stationed on the defense line turned with wide eyes. They recognized the imposing figure and the massive heavy spear strapped to his back.
Marlon took a quick glance around. Despite the overwhelming mass of enemy ships blanketing the horizon, not a single soldier had abandoned their post. All remained steadfast at their positions, weapons loaded and teeth grit.
A wild grin spread across Marlon's face.
"Well, well..." Marlon said in a mocking tone, resting his hands on his hips as he looked at the guards. "Seeing as none of you ran off like scared rats, I promise you'll all get a damn good raise when this is over. Fighting to the death is the true style of a Soaring Dragon Kingdom soldier!"
