Chapter 7 - chapter 7

The oblate spheroid in front of Nero opened in the middle and a small set of rectangular stairs set before him.

Following the woman, he ascended the stairs into the floating object, the white light enveloping him. Holding a hand up to adjust his eyes.

Nero was shocked at the inside of what he now knew was a ship. The inside was completely jet black with bright white lights.

The interior was cleanly cut from obsidian stone. It was extremely spacious with padded seats. But what caught Nero's eye right away was the place this ship was obviously controlled from.

A floating platform in the dead center of the space had golden runes in a circle carved into it, similar to the letter he saw in his head just a few minutes before.

The platform lowered to the woman's feet, and she stepped on it, igniting the ruins on the stone. Once she was in the middle, the stone lifted again, but this time also lifting the black stone wall in front of them.

Revealing the scenery of the crashing waves and submerged buildings.

Nero shuddered slightly at the sight.

But his attention was then drawn to the woman again. Because the gold motes of light began to surround she lifted her hands and grasped something not visible to Nero.

Soon his eyes were forced to shut by the surge of bright light. And the eerre sensation in his body. He felt like his body and mind were being warped and stretched.

But keeping him whole at the same time, this feeling lasted for longer than 40 seconds. But once the feeling left, he fell to his knees in a heap of coughs, the woman paying no attention at all; not even a glance.

The feeling was gone and Nero thought the light was as well, but when he looked up from the floor he was met with a completely different view and a completely different kind of light.

There was no longer any water or broken and batter builds or brown light.

But there were busy streets with thousands of floating objects. Nero was dumbfounded not by the scenery, but the light that covered it all. The…the sun? Nero could see it clearly, the ball of fire in the sky.

He had been told about such a thing all his life. But he never believed it was real… that those who graduated from the academy and consumed a shard of bestowment would be allowed to see the sun.

Nero was stunned at the sight and the realization.

That it was real, the sun was real.

The woman and the platform were lowered to the floor. Still in awe of the sun, the woman called out to Nero. Come child, I need to have you evaluated and questioned. Reluctantly looking away from the sun.

Nero followed the woman out of the floating object.

And when he stepped out, he was met with the sight of a red and white cathedral many times bigger than the last.

The woman gave him no time to gawk and paced forward towards the doors of the cathedral.

He hurried along behind her.

Suddenly extremely self-conscious of his embarrassing wardrobe.

Once they entered the doors. Nero was met with the same sensation and light as before. But on a much smaller scale this time.

Adjusting his eyes, Nero found himself in a small office room with only two chairs. The woman in the black robes had disappeared, and was now replaced by someone else.

The woman was seated on one of the chairs.

She was dressed elegantly in a translucent white dress decorated with shimmering diamonds.

Her eyes were a pristine gold. And her hair matched her eyes and her skin an olive brown.

Before Nero could digest the sight of the beautiful woman before him, she spoke. Hello Nero of the night sky. I am Lady Astoria and I will be the one to question and evaluate you.
