Chapter 26 - Trial

<< The police managed to arrest Gorgo Garilla. The news brought a sense of peace to the citizens of Kyoto, who had been swept up in the disaster caused by the battle between Max and Gorgo, the terrorist attacks, and the chaos caused by the Nordor and Noeredor brothers.

Unfortunately, only the terrorists and Gorgo were captured. Max, along with the Nordor and Noeredor twins, remains at large.

At the request of the United States government, the Japanese courts authorised the extradition of Gorgo Garilla to stand trial in his country of origin. There he was imprisoned, awaiting trial.

The citizens of Kyoto protested the fact that Max Songoku's face was among those wanted, when he was the only one, in the midst of the conflict, who cared about avoiding a high number of casualties.

Gorgo Garilla was finally sentenced to life imprisonment, on the condition that if he committed any act of violence inside the prison, his sentence would be immediately increased to death penalty, without the right to appeal.

The massacre at the Kyoto dojos left a deep wound in the population. Nearly 80% of martial arts schools closed their doors, leaving only four elementary schools standing, in addition to a few minor dojos that managed to resist. >>...

About two days after the crisis.

Max slept on the sofa with Gouten's foot stuck to his face, both clinging to the TV remote control, which changed channels in an endless loop.

Oliver drank tea with his master, enjoying a rare moment of peace away from the snoring in the background. After a sip, as he put down his cup, he looked at his bandaged arms.

'Do they hurt?' Baldur asked him as he refilled his own cup.

'No, master... I'm fine.'

'I'm glad to hear it...'

"A torn muscle in my right arm from the clash of fists with Gorgo, and almost a dislocated left shoulder. I'll never forget the look of surprise on Baldur, Max and Gouten's faces when they found out... how funny," thought Oliver, smiling slightly as he looked at his bandages. But he soon frowned, overcome by doubt.

"Master... in your training... what we had to find... was it a golden sphere of light and a white one?

'Golden and white? I don't quite understand. Yes, when I was young, I had to meditate to be able to touch a single golden sphere, which represents the core of our Ki. When you manage to touch it with your mind... both merge, and that's how we control our own energy,' replied Baldur.

"But... I didn't touch it while meditating. I touched it while fighting Gorgo... And the white sphere?

'Perhaps it's because of your non-human nature...'

'We Senkaynes...' interrupted Max, pausing to yawn, "are usually born with access to Ki. Very few need to obtain it. But they never do it while meditating... they just force their bodies, seeking to feel different forms of the flow.

"I see... one question!

"Tell me...

"Why are you dragging Gouten around?

'I refuse to let go of the TV remote,' replied Max, raising his arm to show how Gouten, still asleep, was clinging to the remote with one hand.

'Regarding the white sphere... I've never heard anything about that...'

'I've never heard anything about spheres, so I'm out of the conversation...' said Max, with a sudden movement that slammed Gouten against the wall.

The boy fell with a thud to the floor, but all that could be seen was a bubble of mucus coming out of his nose, accompanied by soft snoring.

'His level of commitment to sleep is unnatural...' commented Baldur, looking puzzled as Gouten continued to sleep comfortably on the floor.

'Sir, how are Kawaki and Tao doing?' asked Max from the sofa.

'Kawaki has already been discharged... he went on holiday to Argentina with his grandson, Leonel. Tao Pai and Neo are still in hospital, their fractures will take several months to heal,' replied Baldur calmly.

'Who are they?' Oliver asked curiously.

'Kawaki and Tao Pai were my companions here at the Water Dojo when we were younger. Leonel Kawaki is his grandson, born in Argentina, and Neo is Tao's first disciple,' Baldur explained.

'Isn't the dojo supposed to have four disciples? You're missing one...' Max observed.

'It's funny that you consider yourself my disciple...'

'I don't train with you, but I learn...'

'We only started classes a few weeks ago... the fourth disciple can wait a while.'

'I can't wait to see what else we're going to learn!' Oliver smiled enthusiastically.

'There's a lot to learn...' replied Baldur, with a warmth that closed the scene like a caress.
