Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Temporal Distortion? Spatial Overlap?

Fang Xiu couldn't help but turn his head to look at the previous mental hospital entrance, only to find that it had disappeared.

In its place was a wall.

He took two steps back and looked around. Where was the mental hospital? All that remained was the luxurious and magnificent Hundred Willow Academy.

Fang Xiu subconsciously blinked. When he opened his eyes again, the mental hospital had reappeared! But the security guard Brother Zhao had vanished.

What on earth was going on?

He focused his gaze, staring intently at Qingshan Mental Hospital.

The next moment, a bizarre scene occurred. Hundred Willow Academy began to slowly appear, like a fade-in in a movie. First, it was a phantom image, then it solidified, its colors gradually becoming richer.

And strangely, Qingshan Mental Hospital was still there!

The two buildings seemed to overlap each other.

Temporal distortion? Spatial overlap?

Fang Xiu felt as if his eyes were playing tricks on him, seeing overlapping images everywhere, a superposition of the mental hospital and Hundred Willow Academy.

He moved to a different spot and reached out to touch it. His hand passed through the wall of the mental hospital until it encountered the wall of Hundred Willow Academy and stopped.

Immediately, he made a judgment. This mental hospital was likely the same as those bizarre creatures – illusory, only visible, and requiring certain conditions to be met before it could be touched.

This place was still Hundred Willow Academy, with the mental hospital superimposed on it like a holographic projection.

At this point, Fang Xiu no longer had the mind to go find Wu Dahai. He wanted to quickly investigate the secrets within the mental hospital.

Why were other bizarre entities living beings, while only this place was a bizarre structure?

"Hey, hey, Little Fang, why did you walk away without saying anything?"

The voice of the security guard Brother Zhao came from behind him, but Fang Xiu ignored it, his mind completely focused on the mental hospital.

He walked very slowly because the two buildings overlapped to a high degree, making it difficult to distinguish which was illusory and which was real, and easy to bump into walls.

For example, right now, Fang Xiu was clearly near the green belt of Hundred Willow Academy, but in front of him was a dilapidated ward with peeling walls.

Fang Xiu didn't hesitate at all. He plunged headfirst into the ward wall as if entering air, and he directly entered the interior.

The scene before him changed. What entered his eyes was a corridor with benches, the walls stained with dried, blackish-red blood.

It looked very much like a scene from a horror movie.

The place gave the feeling of being in a hospital from decades ago. The walls were a dull gray, and the floor was not the common marble but gray-white concrete.

Fang Xiu didn't take the normal route but instead moved directly through the walls, searching everywhere.

Something terrifying seemed to have happened in the mental hospital, as bloodstains were everywhere, and there were even rotten pieces of flesh.

He walked through the lobby, dining hall, toilet, activity room... all were empty.

Until he reached a ward, he couldn't help but stop.

This ward was special. The entire door had a dark red color, as if someone had splashed a bucket of blood on it, the color of dried blood.

From afar, it looked like a demon's gaping mouth, chilling to the bone.

The ward was labeled 104.

Ward 104?

Fang Xiu became curious and wanted to investigate. He took a step forward, and his body passed directly through the ward door, entering the interior.

The room was ordinary, with only a dilapidated bed. In the corner of the bed, a little girl in a patient's gown was curled up, her head buried deep in her legs, her arms wrapped around them. On her pale wrist was a worn-out braided string. Her face was not visible.

Fang Xiu looked straight ahead, as if he couldn't see the little girl at all, but the corner of his eye was secretly observing.

He wouldn't naively think that there were living people in this bizarre mental hospital.

Even if the other party looked like a person.

The little girl seemed to sense Fang Xiu's arrival and suddenly raised her head.

Fang Xiu's gaze instantly focused because the little girl's face... had no facial features.

He walked straight forward, while the little girl stared directly at Fang Xiu with her featureless face until he left ward 104.

After passing through ward 104, Fang Xiu saw many other wards along the way, each with a number.

He entered them one by one and encountered many bizarre entities of various forms.

Most of them were violent and bloodthirsty. Upon seeing a living person enter, their first reaction was to attack frantically.

Fang Xiu didn't even bat an eye, letting them attack.

He roughly counted, and there were at least dozens of similar wards.

This meant that the mental hospital held at least dozens of bizarre creatures!

"This mental hospital must be hiding a big secret."

As he walked, he suddenly stopped.

Because he shockingly discovered that the doors of wards 162, 169, and 177 were open, and they were empty, with nothing inside.

Had the bizarre creatures escaped?

He continued deeper, but his path was blocked by a real villa. He didn't have a key and had to go around.

After going around, he found himself in a doctor's clinic within the mental hospital.

The room contained a desk with a stethoscope scattered on it, along with some medical reports stained with blood.

Fang Xiu stepped forward to look at the medical reports, and his pupils suddenly contracted!

On a blood-covered medical report, a few lines of text were exposed.

They clearly read: Subject No. 128... (blood covering) Conversion to bizarre entity degree 21.64%, conversion failed.

Conversion to bizarre entity!?

Could it be that bizarre creatures are all transformed from humans?

Were all the bizarre creatures in those wards once people?

An unspeakable shock arose in Fang Xiu's heart. He wanted to continue reading, but the next second...

Because everything at the moment was illusory, like a holographic image, he couldn't pick up the medical reports and read them one by one.

Damn it!!

Seeing the secret so close yet unable to know it made his anger surge.

Suddenly!

Several slender strands of black hair appeared in Fang Xiu's line of sight.

These strands of hair hung down from the air, connected to something unknown.

Fang Xiu naturally wouldn't be foolish enough to look up. He pretended to stroll around casually, then moved away and looked with the corner of his eye.

He saw a "beautiful" doctor in a white coat, with limbs as slender as a spider's, perched on the ceiling, staring straight at him.

Her face was deathly pale, the eye sockets were black with terrifying patterns, her eyes had only whites, no pupils, and her hair was more than a meter long, hanging naturally from the ceiling. One of her hands held a gleaming silver scalpel.

A doctor!?

Fang Xiu's heart stirred slightly.

Did she write these medical reports?

Could it be that she was once human too?

Various guesses flooded his mind, but he couldn't get any answers. The bizarre creatures would definitely not answer his questions.

Fang Xiu could only continue forward. Since the doctor's office had clues, there must be other clues in the mental hospital.

And the院长's (Dean's/Director's) office!

That must be the core of the mental hospital. Perhaps all the secrets were within it.

He constantly moved through the mental hospital, searching for the location of the Dean's office.

Soon, he located an office area. Based on the normal layout of a hospital, Fang Xiu deduced that the Dean's office should be in this area.

When he approached this office area, he found that its location in reality was exactly the sales office of Hundred Willow Academy.

The place where Fang Xiu worked.
