Chapter 1 - ch 1: rebirth

The sound of rain pounded against Kai Draven's apartment window like war drums. Thunder cracked in the distance, echoing through the city. He didn't flinch. His focus remained entirely on the glowing screen before him.

Boss HP: 2%

"Come on… just one more rotation…"

His fingers danced across the keyboard like a maestro, weaving spells, slashes, and dodges into a perfect rhythm. His character leapt into the air, blades gleaming with violet fire. With a final, desperate slash—

[DEMON KING SLAUGHTERED.]

[Achievement Unlocked: Slayer of the Apocalypse.]

Kai leaned back, grinning. After three days with no sleep and only canned coffee for fuel, he'd finally soloed the hardest boss in Blood Reign: World's End.

He stared at the screen with a tired but satisfied gaze. "I really am unbeatable."

Then the screen glitched.

A flash. Then darkness. Not on the monitor—in the room.

Kai's heart skipped. The hum of electronics died. A sharp crack of lightning lit the sky—and struck the rooftop just above his room.

He had time to mutter "Oh, shi—" before everything went white.

---

Pain.

That was the first sensation.

Then… heat. Warm, almost comforting, like sunlight on skin.

Kai's eyes fluttered open. His body ached, but in a strange way—it felt… new. Fresh.

He wasn't in his room. No wires. No desk. No posters.

Above him stretched a vaulted ceiling of polished obsidian and gold. The walls shimmered with runes, glowing faintly. Light poured through tall stained-glass windows, casting dragon motifs across the marble floors.

"…the hell?" he whispered, sitting up.

His hands were smaller—no, younger. He looked down to see a toned but adolescent body, no older than fifteen.

Before panic could take hold, a soft chime echoed in his mind.

Kai blinked. "Slayer… System?"

Before he could say more, the door burst open.

A woman entered, tall and regal, with long silver hair cascading down her back like a waterfall of moonlight. Her eyes were golden, crackling faintly with electricity. She wore a crimson robe embroidered with dragons.

"Kai!" she cried, rushing toward him.

Behind her came a man, taller still, with a sharp jawline and black armor. His presence was like a mountain—immovable and proud.

And behind them, two figures. A girl around his age with silver-blue eyes, cold and composed, and a slightly older boy whose grin screamed I live for battle.

"Kai, you're awake," the woman whispered, cradling his face gently. "You scared me…"

Kai's mouth opened, but no sound came out.

Who…?

"You've been unconscious for a week," said the man, placing a hand on Kai's shoulder. "The trial nearly killed you. But your spirit held on. Just like your mother."

The girl stepped forward. "Don't push him. He clearly doesn't remember everything yet."

The boy scoffed. "Or maybe he hit his head too hard fighting that Fire Wyvern."

Fire Wyvern?

Kai blinked again, trying to process.

"Let me guess," he finally said. "You're my… family?"

The woman chuckled softly, her expression both loving and powerful. "Yes, my sweet boy. I'm Ariadne—your mother."

"I'm Lucius," the man added. "Your father. You are Prince Kai Valen Draconis. And welcome back, son."

Kai's brain stalled.

Transmigrated. Slayer System. Royal family. Prince. What…?

A part of him wanted to scream. But another—stronger, darker—was… thrilled.

He had no friends on Earth. No parents. Just endless games and cold ramen. This… this world felt real.

And more than that—

He had power.

Kai grinned.

---

"Do I get a sword?" he asked casually.

His father raised a brow. "You will forge one during your first dungeon test at Valkyros Academy."

Academy?

Kai nodded slowly. "Sounds… fun."

"Fun?" Darius, the older brother, grinned and ruffled his hair. "You've got guts, little bro. Let's see if that attitude lasts when you're crawling out of a spider nest."

Sylvera rolled her eyes. "Don't poison his mind. He needs focus, not your thrill-seeking."

Ariadne simply embraced Kai again. "Whatever path you choose, know this: We are with you. Always."

For the first time in both lives… Kai felt it.

Family.

Real. Powerful. Loving. And terrifying.

He smirked to himself.

"Bring it on"
