Chapter 9 - Before The Storm.

That night, Nagisa sat by the window, gazing at the full moon in the dark sky, watching how its silvery light cast over the city. A light breeze gently ruffled his hair, accompanied by the rustling of leaves from the tree in the backyard.

He didn't hear anything around him, nor did he pay attention to his surroundings, as all his focus was on one thought that occupied his mind and heart: he was now dating Nyoko.

His mother entered the room and paused for a moment, noticing her son who seemed as though his soul was soaring far away, while his body remained still by the window.

She approached him, her face marked with concern. She had never seen him like this before in her life.

"What's wrong, my son?"

she asked, her voice filled with worry, thinking that perhaps her son was exhausted from work or maybe even sick and hadn't told her.

Nagisa turned to her, a smile lighting up his face. His expression was strange—a mixture of happiness and nostalgia, hope and longing.

He spoke softly, as though confiding a secret.

"Mom... I don't know what's happening to me. I used to mock those who said that love is a sickness, but now I feel as though I've truly caught it.

Only one woman was enough to color my life with shades I've never seen before... neither in real life nor even in my dreams."

His mother's expression shifted from worry to understanding, and the frown on her face turned into a warm, tender smile. She moved closer to Nagisa and opened her arms to wrap him in a sincere, motherly hug.

"You're just like your father"

she said, her words striking a sensitive chord in Nagisa's heart. His father had always been his role model in life, and even after his passing, he continued to live on in his memory. Now, his mother's words made him feel like he had fulfilled a small dream that had long been within him.

He leaned his body toward his mother, burying his face in her shoulder, feeling the warmth of her embrace.

The days passed, then months, and finally, years went by in the relationship between Nagisa and Nyoko. Life between them had as many challenges as it did joys, and four years of love and partnership passed.

During these years, Nagisa was able to rebuild himself and progress in his career until he reached a prestigious position within the company. His love life also progressed at the same pace as his professional success, and he proposed to Nyoko... and she said yes.

He thought that day was the happiest of his life... but as the wedding day approached, his feelings were a mix of excitement and tension. The idea that the wedding would be the most important day of his life made his body tremble, but every time he remembered that Nyoko would be his wife and partner, his heart calmed, and his anxiety turned into passion.

He promised himself that he would make this day unforgettable... a day that Nyoko would carry in her memory forever, as if time would stop in respect of its beauty.

The long-awaited day arrived, and Nagisa stood wearing an elegant black suit that fit his body perfectly. His hands were clasped and sweaty, standing in front of a crowd of family, relatives, and friends. He felt that the minutes were turning into hours as he waited for Nyoko's arrival.

Suddenly, the sound of the doors opening caught everyone's attention, and Nyoko appeared in her white dress, holding a bouquet of flowers in her hands. She entered the wedding hall, and her presence overshadowed everything, as if she were a princess emerging from one of the legendary tales.

Her beauty stopped Nagisa's mind from thinking, and he forgot about the people around him. His legs betrayed him, and he could no longer stand.

He moved toward her without realizing it, until he stood directly in front of her, extending his hand to touch her cheek, as if his mind couldn't comprehend what his eyes were seeing. He felt his throat dry, as though the words had completely vanished.

"You look... beautiful."

His tongue moved on its own, and his eyes never left her face, as if she were a painting that needed hours to fully appreciate the wonder of what he was seeing.

A soft laugh escaped Nyoko's lips, but she tilted her head toward his hand and whispered shyly,

"The guests are watching us, stop."

Nagisa smiled and didn't take his eyes off her, responding in a low voice,

"Ah, even if the whole world was watching us now, I wouldn't stop, nothing could stop me. How can I keep my soul in my body when I see the love of my life at her most beautiful?

I now see the light of my life in your brown eyes... it's as if the future smiled at me when I saw you standing by my side."

Nyoko's face turned red from his emotional words that flustered her heart. She raised her hand and gently slapped him on the chest as if reproaching him with affection,

"Enough with the poetry... let's finish the wedding before I melt from shyness."

***

A whole year passed since their eternal bond, a tie that neither unraveled nor wavered. Everyone used to say that love fades after marriage, but the exact opposite happened; Nagisa's love for Nyoko grew with every moment they spent together.

Her voice still played the strings of his heart, and her laughter continued to paint joy on his features. He rushed every evening to return to her arms, holding her as if the entire world disappeared between her embrace.

He often canceled his plans with friends, saying,

"I want to spend this night with my wife."

They would tease him in response,

"She won't fly away! You have your whole life with her!"

Then came that day... the day when Nagisa wasn't just nervous, but seemed to be in a state of panic.

He had left Nyoko alone at home, looking pale and exhausted, barely able to move, vomiting occasionally, and closing her eyes in visible fatigue.

All of this was enough to make his heart tighten with worry, but he couldn't stay with her; the scheduled meeting with the manager and the sales committee was critical, and there was no room for postponement.

Nagisa stood in the middle of the white meeting room, in front of a long table surrounded by committee members, giving a detailed presentation about the revenues and future plans. He spoke with apparent confidence, but beneath that, his heart was pounding with anxiety for Nyoko.

In the midst of his presentation, his phone vibrated in his pocket.

He glanced at it quickly and saw an unknown number.

He excused himself hurriedly, left the room, and moved to a secluded corner where no one could see him. He took out the phone, hesitated for a moment, then pressed the answer button and raised it to his ear.

"Hello?"

He said, his voice mixed with worry and curiosity, as though something inside him was whispering that what was coming wouldn't be good.

On the other end, a soft woman's voice spoke gently to him, but it wasn't Nyoko's voice—it was someone else's that he didn't recognize.

"Hello, are you Mr. Nagisa?"
